Five Four Club Review – April 2015

Five Four Club is a subscription for Men’s clothing. For a flat $60 a month you get two or three pieces of clothing. There is an easy survey to take so that the clothing sent fits the taste of the man in question. I found getting a guy to take the survey was not that hard and it was in all a painless process.

When you put in your first Five Four Club order it will be shipped pretty fast. This makes it a really good gift for a guys birthday or something that you may have waited a bit to long to buy, or have no idea what to get. I was really surprised that I got my order in less than a week!

It came in a plain plastic envelope which was fine. I am not as seduced by packaging as some people. I have also been known to use Trader Joe’s bags as wrapping paper. I try to play it off that I am “quirky” and “unconventional” but honestly I just hate wrapping things.

Here it is being modeled by a poor young man who is routinely cowed into such nonsense:

It is a nice black T shirt that says casual while at the same time boldly hinting at a secret life of underground BDSM clubs. The leather zipper or zipple as I am calling it, is something I actually like but can see how some might decide it was not for them. I think it looks nice on, and adds some euro trash flair that is lacking in most American men’s closets.

Slim fitting with cute antique white buttons this shirt was a winner. I like that it is slim fit. I don’t like that I am going to have to iron the shirt. I hate to iron. I just laughed because typing ‘I have to iron’ makes it seem like I do it all the time, which is untrue.

Anyway the material on this is a little on the thin side but might be good for those hot summer days when you are forced to wear a button up or want to make up stories about the inheritance you were left by  your great great grand uncle who was sent to a madhouse for collecting buttons.

I was a little disappointed that there were two black shirts in the bag. I don’t know too much about men’s clothing but I feel like they could have sent another color to break up all the black. Perhaps they think that I am the formal type always demanding to be escorted to the “GOOD” 7-Eleven. They are right.

While I think it looks nice on, the fabric did not feel as soft or have the quality of a $50 shirt. This one might end up on the trade list.

Final Verdict: I think Five Four Club is a good value for $60 and one of the better choices for a men’s subscription. I have seen other clothing subscriptions and they seem to be a bit expensive and more involved. I like paying a flat rate fee better than messing around with sending things back and forth. I am looking forward to my next shipment to get a better idea of how well Five Four Club does among the menfolk. It is refreshing to get something that isn’t socks or a tie!

euro trash flair – rotfl. weird to have a leather zipper, though can’t say I do much shopping of things ‘on trend’ so I may be off too. The second shirt seems nice, even if an ironing thing – don’t do much of that either.

I did like the second shirt much than I thought I would. I think the two black shirts will go up for swap. I will continue with this subscription for another month or so to see if it is worth it. I am sorta thinking that I might stop Gentleman’s Box after this months unless it wows me. Birchbox man keeps pulling me in. What with points for reviewing and what not lol

I want to get my husband Birchbox man, but he just does not use much in the way of colognes and moisturizers… But I STILL want to get it for him, think it would be cool…. lol

If you use the Gap10 code it is $10. I still like the option to be able to pick the gift. The first box I did not and ended up with a hankie. not useful

My older son received BB Man for a few months last year. I resubscribed him with the headphones code. He’s ready to try out more products. I wish they had a bimonthly option. Every other month would be perfect for him.

I agree. I am going to cancel some mens subs because there is just too much product and guys don’t use enough!!!

As usual, very funny. Who is your model? And why doesn’t he get to keep the clothing?

Thanks! He will get to keep what he wants. The black shirts were just not his cup of tea. I am hoping next bag will have more keepers in it!

Being that we are talking about Birchbox…I am unhappy with my woman sub. My March box and plus item did not show up. They replaced the plus item and stated they will reimburse my cc. It’s been over 2 weeks with no reimbursement. They stated they ran out of stock, but sent my sister a box even though she ordered about a week after they said they will try to replace my box. She ordered after the PYS and thought she will be receiving April because I lacked tracking of a replacement box.

The charge for April’s plus item failed. I have no idea why. I had to email them about that because there is no reason for that.

I decided to read on MUT birchbox thread today to see if anyone else was experiencing similar troubles. I read that people saw through the cheat that two of the possible items is Beaver shampoo and conditioner that were made in China. I checked my box and it’s listed. It’s not a guarantee because things change prior to the 10th. I posted that maybe it was an April’s Fools joke. Someone posted they saw it on Instagram.

I will be sending yet another email on the 10th if this is to be in my box. First the name which has a negative connotation in my generation. Second -made in China!!!! I think that will be my first made in China item from BB.

I’m stuck in a yearly sub. It was inexpensive with a great gift for subbing a year. This adds to my belief don’t buy yearly subs.

I’ve been pretty happy with BB but I would be upset to get a made in China product. I just don’t trust it’ll be safe. I too am really starting to think yearly subs are NOT the way to go. I get tricked by how cheap things are!

I’ve been subscribed to BB for 9 months and never experienced issues until now. I became a yearly subscriber in November. I contact BB and the credit was issued that day so I followed up with the credit card company. BB also processed the April BB plus item that failed. I thought once the order failed there wasn’t a way to purchase it so I greatly appreciate that . My sister wanted a Rifle tote and gave me money for it. She wasn’t sure at the time if she was going to sign back up for the Rifle box. I still don’t know why it failed, but obviously my credit card company isn’t getting along with BB for some reason.

They’ve been responsive and helpful. It’s a lot of little annoying issues. I’m still going to email them about the made in China product if it is in my box. I don’t expect them to do anything about, but I want to express that this customer is not interested in products made in China.

Definitely post what they say! Usually they are pretty good. They should make it up to you.
