Boxycharm Review – May 2015

Boxycharm is a beauty subscription that costs $21 and usually sends out a really good value box. Of course it depends really if you are interested in the items or not. The make up is usually not high end but it does include mostly all full size items. I like that they have more accessible brands and find the value to always be there for me personally. Even if I try out something I don’t like it is usually worth a good belly laugh.

Now everyone will know I like to try beauty products that come in a box!

ModelCo Bronze Simmer
ModelCo Bronze Simmer

ModelCo Bronze Simmer: I really need to watch a ton of videos to see how to put this stuff properly. I always end up looking kinda dirty after slopping bronzer on. This particular one is really big. I don’t even think a Kardashian could finish it! It is large enough so that you can use it on your body. If you decide to, let me know how that goes.

Great for creating the illusion of clevage or at the very least a dirt chest

The Lip Bar Lipstick
The Lip Bar Lipstick

The Lip Bar Lipstick: I LOVE purple lipstick! I once bought some as a joke and was surprised to find that it looks pretty nice on even the most birdlike of lips. I was excited to slather this on my beak and it looked really pretty on. It does not look as purple but it does make my lips look more trendy when I use old time slang like “bee’s knees” and “golly.”

I will wear this when I try to bring “Jiminy crickets!” back in rotation. Perhaps you’ll be using it in a year!

Bodyography Essential Brow Trio
Bodyography Essential Brow Trio

Bodyography Essential Brow Trio: “May is the month of brow” said every beauty box I got this month. I have not attempted to use this yet but I am sure one of the colors are bound to work on my brows. I sort of wish I had a unibrow and then I could use all three colors in a sort of ombre look that will be the envy of women everywhere.

Do you think filling in my lady mustache is a chic idea?

Oppsie I don’t have a picture of this. I think I dropped it somewhere. Darn!

Bodyography Brow Brush: I am glad that they provided something that goes with another item. If you are not weird like me and are able to hold on to this then you will be happy to use it with the trio. I am not really sure how are where I dropped my brush. It is the mystery that will consume me for the next week or so…

Did my cat take it? She sure has been rocking some nice brows as of late…

Lauren B. Beauty Nail Polish
Lauren B. Beauty Nail Polish

Lauren B. Beauty Nail Polish: This is such a pretty muted pink. Perfect for making my white skin look a little tanner and also when it chips I wont look sloppy right away. I will look sloppy later because that is how I roll. Searching for the missing brow brush takes time, and so something had got to give people!

I can refer to my manicure as the “Beverly Hills” of  (fill in the blank)

Verdict: Say what you will but Boxycharm usually brings a value that is well over the $21 spent. While I am not huge into doing my brows with all sorts of powders and the like, it will be fun to give these a try. I will get use out the products sent and will continue to give them my money for their boxy goodness!

I love purple lipstick. I received one in my Eco Emi box a few months ago and got to relive my younger days. May had a lot of brow items. I hope your cat is not plotting with the goats to create a new eyebrow line inspired by the missing brush. Synthetic eyebrows of course.

It’s like she is always plotting something against me. Last night I woke up and felt a weird weight on my foot. I think it was her flexing her power.

Ugh what a day already! I broke my phone and am like 11 days from an upgrade and verizon won’t do it. So now I have to get a burner and be like law and order style. Maybe I should get a few and attach them all to my belt?

Just don’t give the cat the lipstick to go with the brows, that would be frightening…. Brow items are way to popular this month, but it is good they gave a brush to go with it. My original lipstick was orange/coral and looked bad on me, but it broke and it took forever to get off my hands. That stuff has great staying power. I traded for a purple lipstick and like it, fun to play. Then I got the funky green polish… Now that would go with purple lipstick and dark brows……

HAHAHA You need to go all out 80s colors. Like every color ever made all on one day! I have really small lips so I always feel weird wearing lipstick and tend to go for gloss. The purple is pretty big time for me and my face.

Did you feel like Bluebeard’s wife with all that lipstick staining your hands?

I think that is why I love purple lipstick and green nail polish. I’m still an 80s girl at heart. I miss that decade. At least my hair was in style. Super thick curly/wavy hair doesn’t work well nowadays although it looks like it is making a comeback. I never straighten it. it takes my hairdresser 45 minutes to straighten it with a flat iron and it still has a wave in it.

My hair is so thin… I am a twin and my twin has thick hair. Whenever we would get a hair cut they would always comment on my thin hair. Thick hair is always in!!! Did you ever crimp you hair? My big sister bought me one and I’m thinking about bringing it back!

Oh yeah. Also there were the hot bendy rollers. My hair isn’t in style around here. It’s all sleek, shiny, straight hair. I don’t blend in. I was actually partially dumped by my last boyfriend prior to my husband because of my hair.

It seems like beach waves are popular elsewhere which is how my hair looks most of the time. Wash my hair, put oil in it. scrunch it maybe 30 seconds to give it some conformity in waves, and off I go. I have to comb my hair in the shower with a wide tooth comb, otherwise forget it. Beauty Protector does a great job on the tangles if I forget to do it i the shower.

That’s is insane! I would love to have thick hair! I always got dumped for being crazy. Go figure. If I let my thin hair air dry it has some wave and frizzy. Especially the bottom coat. I used to have a nicer top coat but the hair dye took it’s toll.

I used to have a best friend who had super long thick hair. When she’d stay over she would clog the shower. I’d always rush in after to clean it up so as not to shame anyone.

Biotin is great for skin and hair, I’m like a wookie, on the stuff. Helps With Joint Stiffness too.

I bought some but I always forget to take it! I need to get one of those pill thingies. I forget to take everything!!! I heard it also helps the skin which is another thing I need. I think my mistake was to get a brand that has too many to take in a day.

Your comment made me laugh. My sister gets dumped for the same reason. She’s looking online again for a man. She’s the type of person that if you put 99 good men in a room and 1 man who will be abusive, she will find that 1 man. She has lots of problems and has a hard time with men who treat her right. It’s all about finding the person who appreciates your particular brand of craziness.

Fish oil helps with your hair too. My hair has a nice shine/luster to it because of the fish oil even though I’m in my mid 40s. I noticed that the luster seems to disappear around that age.

People usually pretend to be into my crazy. But after awhile… Lol My bestie used to date a legit crazy. I always wondered if that is how she could put up with being my best friend.

Online dating shouldn’t be so bad. I say cast a wide net and see what jumps in. Plus all those dates mean reasons to get dressed up and accept free food. Yes, I believe men should pay the for the first date. I mean, why else would a girl even go? 😉

I need to find the right fish oil. I tried it once and ummmmmm I got the burps something fierce. I thought I was going to die of salmon breath… Just like so many before me.

I feel really good. I cooked tonight! I never cook but have been trying blue apron out. They make it so easy to do things I never though I could do! Seriously though I’ve been known to just make a easy Mac in the microwave and eat bag salad straight from the bag. I seriously never ever cook.

I cancelled Boxy to give myself a beauty break but I’ve been kicking myself ever since. My skinny brows could use a little body, imo. If only they would GROW!
As for bronzer, I learned how to use it from Maskcara! She has some really great YouTube tutorials and I set my phone up on my counter and did a play then pause, play, pause, etc. Following exactly what she did. I learned. Shockingly. And now I can apply bronzer and highlighter without issues. And no, I don’t look like Kim K when I’m done. 😀

Truth be told id be proud to look like Kim K after some make up lol! Thanks so much for reading and for pointing me to in the direction of some much needed assistance. My brows are thin as well, they are also seemingly at odds with each other. Like they hardly resemble one another.

One time last year I was beyond glad to have something to fill in my sparse brows. You see I got my roots touched up and the stylist somehow got bleach on my eyebrow. It looked so bad. Like I was half alien. Thank goodness for brow products!

Ombre unibrow?! I cracked up laughing here at work and got a few crazy looks from the people in nearby cubicles… nothing new. I love BoxyCharm! Did you get June and/or July? I’m looking forward to the Revealed 3 palette for August!
