Oui Please 1.3 – A Breath of Provence Review May 2015

Oui Please (Ouiplease.com) is a subscription that seeks to give us Americans a bite of the croissant so to speak. Every other month subscribers receive lifestyle items that are French for the price of $175 a box or if you actually subscribe $150 a box. It is $650 for a year. Each box is supposed to have items in it that value $400 or over. I signed up for a year using a 20% off code because I like to live dangerously but not too dangerously.

There was a lot of controversy this month because of the shipping delay and reasons given. I am even guilty of getting into it with some chick on the MSA forum about it because while I didn’t really care about the package being late (I just wanted to make sure I would get it at some point) I stood up for someone who was frustrated. I gave up my little internet kerfuffle when I realized that the person I was communicating with did not understand the irony of sharing her opinion on a public forum she does not own while at the same time telling others they had no right to share their’s.

Here I moderate comments to filter spam, but you can feel free to say what you want about a box. It won’t hurt my fragile ego.

That said, on with the review!

Camilla the Hen take a sniff of her box!
Camilla the Hen take a sniff of her box!

Camilla the hen always claims this box is for her because she has to put up with me every single day. Pretty good argument because I found it hard to argue with her.

By this time I could really smell the goodness!

Ozone - Classic Stripe No Show Socks ($15):
Ozone – Classic Stripe No Show Socks ($15)

Ozone – Classic Stripe No Show Socks ($15): Is it right that I nearly squealed with delight when I saw these?!? I don’t know what switch was flipped in my life but a once boring gift is now like my favorite thing to get. I also really needed some of these no show socks so that I could try the whole causal tennis shoe summer look without trying to roll down my short socks all sad like. I love the stripes and feel they fit the french theme overall. As for Provence itself I can at least vouch that these smell like lavender, as does everything in the box.

These match the nail stickers I received in my first and last French Box that I kept even though they are ancient. So it could be a good look!

Mimilamour - #Bonjour Gold Bracelet ($100)
Mimilamour – #Bonjour Gold Bracelet ($100)

Camilla says it makes a nice crown as well
Camilla says it makes a nice crown as well

Mimilamour – #Bonjour Gold Bracelet ($100): This was my favorite piece in all the spoilers I saw so I was shocked to get it! I like that it is simple and easy to wear. The books says it is 24 carat gold plated so it should not turn my wrist green.

The designer and owner on Mimilamour has an interview featured in the magazine. He says that people are often surprised that “a big bearded man” is actually behind the brand. I say pish posh to that. After all, if Santa who is arguably one of the biggest bearded men can make Christmas happen then big bearded enterprising men everywhere get a tip of the hat from me!

He named the company after a pet name he gave his girlfriend. If I named mine after an affectionate name for my cat Sophia, my brand would be called “Litter Tosser.” Please do not send me all of your requests and money at once!

Tassia Canellis - Way ring ($60)
Tassia Canellis – Way ring ($60)

Tassia Canellis – Way ring ($60): A lot of folks who got this ring thought that it had fallen out of the envelope. Only to find the most small little chain balled up inside or somewhere in the packing material. Mine was where it was supposed to be. I can fit it on my ring finger which was nice because it is pretty small. It is really small and super delicate. I actually love it! I love how little and just “there, but not there” it is. Sort of like my sanity!

If it doesn’t fit on your finger then gift it to that kitty whose tail is in need of “perfect finishing touch” to give her that “French style.”

Oliv' La Claree - Radiance Elixir ($50)
Oliv’ La Claree – Radiance Elixir ($50)

Oliv’ La Claree – Radiance Elixir ($50): Olives leaves are supposed to make you look younger. I honestly would make a bed of them if I thought I could get even a couple years younger looking! This small bottle is pricey but perfect for my skin type so I will try this first before I go making that bed of leaves.

If I do end up making that bed of olive leaves I will probably have a much easier time making my bed…

Oliv' La Claree - Beauty Oil ($35)
Oliv’ La Claree – Beauty Oil ($35)

Oliv' La Claree - Beauty Oil ($35) Top View
Oliv’ La Claree – Beauty Oil ($35) Top View

Oliv’ La Claree – Beauty Oil ($35): There have been a lot of write ups in different fancy magazines about this product. It gets great reviews from fancy places which impresses me. I do not get great reviews in fancy places I can assure you. It’s package is like an actual little tin of oil. So cute!

No longer will I have to use the rare oil of a square coconut to get beautiful!

La Fare 1789 - Voluminazing & Shining Shampoo ($25)
La Fare 1789 – Voluminazing & Shining Shampoo ($25)

La Fare 1789 – Voluminazing & Shining Shampoo ($25): Fancy pants shampoo am I right? This has honey in it so I probably would not use this while camping or going for a hike. Bears are no joke people. I have so much shampoo and such at the moment that I haven’t been able to give it a try and I might end up gifting it. But then it leaves me with problem of letting the giftee know that this is nice shampoo and not just something I found at Ross… hmmmm… Maybe I will subtly ask them to read this blog and they will get the hint…

With such simple ingredients maybe I could just put some of this on my crepes and call it a day!

La Fare 1789 - Succulent Foot Cream ($15)
La Fare 1789 – Succulent Foot Cream ($15)

La Fare 1789 – Succulent Foot Cream ($15): I like my feet like I like my cheese…wait that isn’t right… This product comes in a pretty small jar. I am sure it is because French ladies have small dainty feet. Mine are huge and ugly. I think I will gift this cream to someone with smaller feet as they are sure to get more use out of it. Am I the only one a little concerned that this has an ingredient in it that they say “relieves congestion?” Why would I need a foot cream to do that? I am not even sure I want to know.

Putting the word “succulent” on a foot cream is so creepy to me. Who dares me to gift this along with a note reading “Succulent foot cream for your succulent feet!” Ugh.

Panier Des Sens - Hand Cream Lavender ($15)
Panier Des Sens – Hand Cream Lavender ($15)

Panier Des Sens – Hand Cream Lavender ($15): I love a nice hand cream! There were a couple other scents that were sent out like lemon and verbena. I am glad that I got the lavender to keep with the whole Provence theme. It says that is for sensitive skin so I will happily slap this on my poor tired paws.

I can smugly breath in as I put this on and say “Ahhhh the South of France…” in a dreamy way.

Rose et Marius - Melon & Basil ($15)
Rose et Marius – Melon & Basil ($15)

Rose et Marius – Melon & Basil ($15): My soap smells so good! I think more brands should put basil in their scents. It just smells so fresh! The soap is small and would make a nice gift but being selfish I am going to keep this for me, me, and me.

I can put this in the bathroom and have yet one more thing to get angry about someone using it! “What you used the NICE soap and the NICE towel’s? What were you thinking?!?”

Plantes et Parfums - Provence Lavender Flower Sachet ($15
Plantes et Parfums – Provence Lavender Flower Sachet ($15

Plantes et Parfums – Provence Lavender Flower Sachet ($15): How crazy is it that I can sit here in California and literally huff flowers that grew in the fields of Provence? I think little touches like this are the things that make Oui Please special and different from other boxes. This item made the whole box smell wonderful and I am wondering now what clothing drawer I have that has good enough stuff in it to warrant this little item.

Maybe I can put this in my car to cover that In-N-Out burger smell that I swear will not leave my car!

Epicerie de Provence - Honey Candy Jar ($15)
Epicerie de Provence – Honey Candy Jar ($15)

Epicerie de Provence – Honey Candy Jar ($15): This is super cute! I have read that others love this candy. I do not. They just don’t have a whole lot going on to make it worth the calories for me. I think I might be able to use these somehow but I think I will end up giving this away to someone who has a better palate then I do. Shouldn’t be that hard!

Since this is supposed to remind me of “simpler times in the Provencal countryside” maybe I should have tried this while sitting near some farm animals without any electronics.

Sothys - Eyeshadow ($30)
Sothys – Eyeshadow ($30)

Sothys – Eyeshadow ($30): This was not in the booklet and so I had to look up the price myself. My info is from a German beauty site, so it could differ. This is packaged so nicely with a pretty velvet bag. I just don’t think I can pull off green eyeshadow. Maybe maybe someone can give me some tips!

This eyeshadow is so pretty I can just showcase it in my home as an objet d’art!

Group picture!
Group picture! (Sophia is in the back judging me, like always)

Verdict: Shipping issues aside the box I received was super solid. The items are useful and also a treat. I don’t think it reached the promised $400 value but that isn’t a huge deal to me. I liked the items and I am glad they did not send me something like a plastic zip bag valued $40 like another box. The values really do seem in line for the products and it was fun to go through them. I took a little trip to France from the comfort on my sofa. I didn’t even have to brush the crumbs from my shirt!

Sssh. Don’t tell anyone. This is the first time I really like the Oui Please items. I love your box excluding the eye shadow.I still don’t like the company.

I think the company is a little shady. Lol I mean at this point I’m not sure if goats are behind everything or not. Makes me wonder about the French. They seem based on boxes to be very conflict avoiding types. Any one from France here that can tell me?

      • May 23, 2015 at 5:28 am

IDK< I think the Lavender Bunch is in on this one. They seem to be taking over from the goats….

You are right to point out the power grab being made by the lavender bunch aka the lavender LLC. Seems they might indeed be making moves. Looks like the goats are fighting many wars…

Nice review, you def got one of the better boxes. That bracelet is gorgeous. Have you tried the nail stickers from French Box yet? Mine were so old that they actually lost the stickiness. They did not work at all. Just a heads up on that!

      May 21, 2015 at 3:40 pm

Omg really?!? I haven’t tried them! I still can’t believe people are giving them a second chance. The next box better be amazing!

I read that the nail stickers expired. I didn’t even know they could expire. I love your bracelet. It’s good to see Camilla back! I do think the goats are in cahoots with the French theme sub boxes.

Yeah the totes expired but I figured they’d be good… Guess not lol

Camilla says hello! She told me she thinks we should all go to the South of France and just be fabulous and have people notice it.

I broke down and got this box, and it was very sad. You got an awesome box. I got the golden teal ring which I can’t wear (It would just fall off as it would be a midi ring.) Then the face oil, beauty oil, shampoo, foot cream, hand cream, carved soap, lavender sachet, candy, beige nail polish, beige eye shadow, and a full bar of lavender soap. Using MSA pricing my box was worth $231 (guessing at the full size soap of $10) Take away that ring and I got a whopping $171 box. But the good news is I can actually use all this makeup and stuff, no phenoxyethanol. I was hopping for the bracelet you got.

Did you email them about it? The value is way low for your box. My box was a nice surprise. Last month I felt like my box wasn’t nearly as good compared to others.

      • May 23, 2015 at 2:38 am

I did, here is my reply – “Bonjour Shana,
Thank you for reaching Oui Please Team. We apologize that your experience has not been flawless and we would love to make it up to you! We will be sending a gift your way! Please allow 2-3 weeks for delivery! Merci!” We will see. TGIF

Is the shampoo gentle do you think? I’m thinking about trying it but my hair is awful. Thin and dry

          • May 23, 2015 at 5:30 am

I do like the shampoo, it cleaned well and gave me some nice body. You will want some conditioner with it though. not drying but more deep cleaning feel. The foot cream is really good too, rubbed it in last night with clean socks. After I got home today my feet were so much softer. So I am happy to try these products, they really are nice.

Because I’m gross and let my hair get prettttty dirty before a shampoo I’ll give it a try! I know TMI but seriously I’d have no hair if I washed daily!

I have accepted the date to give away the foot cream and comment on succulent feet so I can’t try it. However, I’m glad you reported back because it’s good to know my gift will be creepy and somewhat useful!

          May 23, 2015 at 2:55 am

TGIF for real!!! Ohhh please report back what they send. You know what would make everyone go insane? If you went on forums and posted that they sent you that clutch everyone wants. People would literally get into a tizzy. I mean don’t do that but can you imagine???

Like: “well OP sent me that clutch and leather cuff bracelet to make up for my lackluster box… I’m still pissed they didn’t include more caramels but whatever”

          • PA Anna
            May 23, 2015 at 3:39 am

That would be scary. There’s so much drama wrapped around the clutch. Shana would need to go into hiding.

Shana – I am glad they are going to send you extra items.

          • Subscriptionista
            May 23, 2015 at 4:07 am

It would be so scary. I briefly considered making a trolling post where I pretend I’m reviewing some box for the first time and making it out of this world bad. Maybe for April fools day I will.

Seriously people would cry over the clutch. I’m not fancy and I don’t have all these fancy things. So the clutch love is lost on me. The leather cuff was cute though!

Yeah agreed. Better not to stir the pot.

On another note I posted my orange glad review to their facebook hoping to get people to read my website cuz I have little shame. And they liked it but they Posted a reply that made me a little uncomfortable. Maybe I shouldn’t post my reviews on the pages of the box I’m reviewing anymore. I dunno… Lol

Right now I’m trying to write the loot crate review and I just am not into this months box. I hope your sons will dig it, I just don’t at all. Like it was prolly one of the worst ones to me. Usually makes for good writing when I dislike something but this is more of just the problem of a boring box.

          • May 23, 2015 at 5:27 am

That is just badddddd 🙂 That would not start a TIZZY but a full blown RIOT!!!! I will let you know if I get anything from them. Hope they do something, the range in values are huge and I got one of the lowest boxes out there. I am still trying to figure out that ring, I got the one that looks like a horse bit… It does fit on my pinkie but it would fall off.

          • Subscriptionista
            May 23, 2015 at 5:59 am

I liked my ring but it was very delicate to put on. I once had a terrible boss with a pinky ring … He would show off his car and stuff like that. Lol pinkie rings on dudes

          • May 23, 2015 at 5:32 am

Thanks PA Anna, I hope they follow through, or I hope I get an outstanding box next time. It really is amazing to get a box of beauty stuff I am not allergic to so that is nice. But a bit more level values would be nice…

          • May 23, 2015 at 5:33 am

Orange Glad Thank you so much for a splendid review smile emoticon We are so psyched to see bloggers who understand the true value of our box, it’s all about the curation and discovery, and that is what makes OrangeGlad stand out from the ordinary deal stealing subscription crowd. I was so eager to see what you received that i forgot to read the review. True story – I used someone’s nice towel and soap back in my early 20s. I received a lecture that they were for decorative uses. I agree that your box is solid. You are fortunate when it comes to boxes. Have you thought about marketing the idea about tail rings? I’m sure there are people who will buy it for their pampered kitties. You could call the line “Litter Tosser”. Yes, I do think I am quite clever at 9 in the morning. Now to find some caffeine.

All this daring talk about foot cream. Every time I read the word “succulent” I think of chicken. It makes me hungry.

I don’t know what to do about Burke Decor. Does Camilia have an opinion? I need to update my credit card, but can’t access the account page. I don’t think anyone can. They said I could call in the number. I don’t like subs that are a lot of work. Hi Patricia, thank you so much flattery will get you everywhere with me hahah I would write a book if I had any good ideas, but sadly I am sort of a hack who can only seem to review things. I have not had the chance to read Evanovich but plan to read her books one of these days. I saw here in an interview once and she was great. She seems super real, and not tied up in her process.

Trust me if I COULD be a real writer I TOTALLY would. I would love to show up to parties and say “oh moi? I’m a writer… ya know, words and all that.” Then my cat could brag about me to all her friends.

Thank you very much for the items. I have succulent feet and soft hands. I haven’t tried the face cream yet. I will next week. I have one sachet in my bedroom and one by my desk.

I see the appeal of the sub now that I tried out the items. I still don’t trust the company.

Yeah, I’ll keep sending you stuff from my boxes. I feel sorta weird that they are not sending the box this month but at the end of July. They don’t communicate. I feel like the French box was complete crap from what I saw online but wouldn’t dare ruffle feathers saying it on another site. Figure this is my blog and I’ll say what I feel like.

Go get em! 🙂 They need to communicate and I don’t like this pushing back of boxes….

OK, I finally got a replacement item – a tassia canellis golden cross bracelet. Looks like the chain from the rings with a tiny gold cross on it. Pretty, I like it, though I am not sure how I am going to get it on – pretty tough with how fine it is. I found a value of $46, though why it would be less than those rings as it is much longer….. I really hope they pick it up with the next box.

Thanks for getting back to us. That is weird that the value is less! I really liked the ring and think the bracelet would be pretty but very delicate! Like REALLY delicate! I’m hoping that the next box is good. I’m anxious what with the trouble we had before.

I will. With the wordpress platform I probably just need to figure out what to install in the blog. I’m not tech savy at all lol

This is the thread that never ends. I received my June Hampton Lane box which I thought I opted out and promptly placed it up for swap. Someone requested it and had a Oui Please item in her listing so I decided to accept. I also selected another item too, but that is beside the point.

I’m not sure how to use what I selected. It’s the beauty oil. Do I leave it in my hair or rinse it out? Do I pat it into my skin?

I think you can do it all! ptobably nice after a shower when you want to glow with luminous light. Kinda like my hands after eating pizza!

The thread that never dies, well I got another package from Oui Please today 🙂 I got this text from my daughter that I got a package but it was leaky while at work. I could not get out of her where the package came from, the curiosity was horrible! They sent me succulent foot cream (which just cracks me up due to your review), hand cream, radiance elixir and an organic lip balm. It was the lip balm that had melted and made a mess. I was very happy getting this package, now my box is more on target. I also really like that foot cream and am almost done with the hand cream. The new hand cream is lavender. I am going to try it, but if it is strong PA Anna may find it in her mailbox sometime….

YAY!!! That is awesome that they sent more to you! Now your box isn’t all sad, and you are a part of the leaky club. 😉

I laughed at that you for the succulent foot cream! I followed through on the dare and I ended up sending it to Anna. I do hear that it is good stuff from other comments on MUT.

Hopefully you like everything and that you get a ton of comments from people about your succulent feet and over all radiance!
