Petbox is a subscription that caters to the love of your life. You know, the one you want to cuddle with while watching an old movie when all the rest of the family is tucked into bed …
Petbox has a lot of different subscription options, however mine is from Groupon. They do offer deals on different sites so be on the look for them if you are not sold on the box 100%.
The subscription allows you to either get a surprise box where they choose the items or an option where you can choose the items yourself with points. Because of my bad luck allowing Petbox to pick the items I decided to try my hand at selecting my own box.
Yay it is Here
Kong Company – Kickeroo: I had just successfully fostered another cat named Moe for the the shelter I volunteer for and decided that I would take a little break from fostering. Three days later I got a call from the shelter begging me to take in two boy kittens which I simply could not do. After all, I lived in a small condo in the city AND I never told the owner of that condo about any of the cats. They were able to talk me into one female. They pulled up on the side of the busy street and handed me a box. In that box? One Sophia Cat von Bear Cat de Tuxedo, a well loved little cat bed, and a little green Kong Kickeroo.
Now she is my forever kitty, and has an even bigger Kickeroo! I was so surprised when I opened this because I was expecting it to be so much smaller.
I hope she will still want to cuddle with me!
Supercat – Catnip Markers: I love the idea of these markers. Suddenly I am very powerful. With one swipe of this marker YOU may become my cats best friend. I feel like I could write poetry to my cat with these and no matter how bad it was she would love it.
As an aside I remember being a kid and loving the smell of markers. It was before I would even think to “huff” or whatever they are calling it these days. I remember in like second grade all us kids would all get a good sniff. I think that accounts for a lot of ummm things…
I want to rub these on my expense reports so my cat will complete them for me!
Burt’s Bees – Hypoallergenic Wipes For Cats: I watched that documentary about Burt’s Bees and Burt. I felt sort of bamboozled by their marketing of his imagine. Then I thought long and hard about it. I wanted to be sold, that is why I believed a hippie guy with a beard made me peppermint tinted lip balm. I also can’t help but love all the stuff they make. I refuse to fight it.
Anyway, when I saw this I knew I had to choose it. My kitty has some skin issues and I think this might sooth her dander prone areas. The I also like that I can use these to sort of “touch up” her paws when she hops into bed with me. Can you believe she doesn’t listen when I tell her not to walk with the same paws that she kicks litter with, on my pillows with where I put my face? I get no respect!
In a pinch I can use these for myself to soften and moisturize my dry coat!
BaaBaa’s – Color Bed: I come from a household where towels are thrown down every place a cat decides is a nice chill spot. I have been taught to do this and find it makes my place look like a badly run laundry. BaaBaa’s are perfect to throw where ever you cat decides in the new “place to be,” or on top of its cat bed so that you can easily clean its little nook. I was really happy with the size and softness of this item and I plan to get a few more. Now my place will look more like a cat harem!
I wonder if BaaBaa’s takes custom orders for us humans?
Greenies – Feline Smart Bite Hairball Control Tuna Treats: Greenies are a favorite among the cat crowd and I thought this would be a great choice because of it’s soft wet center. Sophia didn’t really take to them, but she is pretty weird about wet food at the moment. I will have no problem finding a home for these treats because people rave so much about them!
I am worried about this treat being too “smart,” and helping cats in their bid for world domination.
Petlinks – Pudgy Pets: Something about fat animals makes me smile as it is cute. I sometimes wonder if Sophia is a bit overweight but tell myself she just has short legs. Yes. Short legs, that’s the ticket! This toy is going to be a favorite because it is perfect for rolling and also has a great texture for a few bites here and there.
Hopefully this doesn’t make my cat body conscious.
Spot – Colored Burlap Balls: I decided on these because my kitty loves to make chase. They have words printed on them like “catch” and “great” which is sort of weird. My cat only reads gossip on the internet so I doubt she will even notice.
I hope she doesn’t use these to learn to juggle and then leave me for the glamorous life of circus performing.
Smart n’ Tasty – Feline Dental Treats (Chicken): Because I had trouble with last months box I was given an extra 200 points. These treats cost 100 points each which I thought was fair. I went ahead and got two bags because Sophia LOVES these. She is so picky and I sort of believe she was found with her bags packed outside of Charlie Sheen’s mansion because she “couldn’t get along with the other Goddesses” and not actually found cowering under a bush like the shelter would have me believe.
These treats sell me because every single thing is from the USA and all natural. I should probably give her more of these because her breath can be aggressive. She argues the same can be said about my morning breath.
Wouldn’t it be awesome if they made dental treats for humans?!? Mints you say? What are those?
Verdict: I am really pleased with this months box and because I got to choose what I wanted I know everything will be used.
Note: In the last box I had some trouble with duplicate treats, and expired treats. I wrote an email complaining and they game me 200 points which I was able to purchase two packs of Sophia’s favorite treats with. Later I received a call and email from them in order to talk a bit more about what I had complained about.
I decided to call them back because if you haven’t guessed by now I have all sorts of opinions I desperately want someone to pay attention to. Matt was very kind and said it was unacceptable for expired treats to be included in the box and that they have already taken steps to make sure it would not happen again. He also helped me understand what went wrong with the address not being updated. I also found out that the cat food sample included was actually a bonus item and not part of the box. I felt kinda dumb about that.
Anyway he offered me another month free and I accepted. That will be next months box. However, I was impressed and it really does seem like Petbox is taking steps to be better at what they do. They did not ask me for anything and to the best of my knowledge will only know I am the one who write this blog once I post this review.
