Beauty Fix Subscription Box Review – July 2015

Beauty Fix is a beauty subscription that for the moment seems to be more on the skin care side. It is $27 a month and usually a super good deal. It became one of my most favorite beauty boxes to get because of the great value and high quality products.

This month sucked though. I am just going to say it. If this is supposed to be my “fix” it is very sub par “junk.” After opening this I still feel the itch for a better fix and I am surprised how badly disappointed I am. Again,  Beauty Fix has had some amazing boxes. I just will be cancelling if I get another box that is even close to this one.

Let us take a look!

From the outside it looks the same…

Devacurl - 3 Step Sampler Kit
Devacurl – 3 Step Sampler Kit

Devacurl – 3 Step Sampler Kit: These are foil samples but pretty big ones. I don’t have curly hair so I am going to send this over to Sub Bella if she wants it. She tends to dig stuff that is 100% sulfate and paraben free. I think it is because she knows how to read about ingredients. I sure wish I knew how to read!

The fact that it clearly states “No Poo” on the package makes this suitable for gifting!

Harry Josh Pro Tools - Styling Clips:
Harry Josh Pro Tools – Styling Clips:

Harry Josh Pro Tools – Styling Clips: I am going to need a few more of these clips so that I can try to dye my own hair. I really need to do a better job about getting my roots. My twin sister noticed like a large chunk of roots growing from my head where I neglected to put dye. I told her Calico Cat is very in right now. She needs to put down a book and pick up a damn fashion magazine!

“Free Gift” in the largest print possible tells me… this is suitable for gifting! Just kidding, its pretty lame.

Vichy - Purete Thermal 3-In-1 Cleansing Solution
Vichy – Purete Thermal 3-In-1 Cleansing Solution

Vichy – Purete Thermal 3-In-1 Cleansing Solution: I am already addicted to this stuff. I have a large bottle and a few little ones like this so that I do not have to be far from my “Vichy Face Water.” It is the perfect creation for those who like me, hate washing their face. If you love to wash your face don’t sit there and judge me with your clean skin…

In France does it ever rain this wonderful water? If so do sultry Parisian women dance in it?

Erno Laszlo - Firmarine Face Bar
Erno Laszlo – Firmarine Face Bar

Erno Laszlo – Firmarine Face Bar: They state this is an “algae-extract wonder bar.” I guess if I were a bar of soap I would want to be a wonder bar as well. Probably what Oasis meant to sing if they hadn’t been drinking…

This bar is so small that it would be unnoticed in prison if you were to drop it!

Dermstore - Lip Quench
Dermstore – Lip Quench

Dermstore – Lip Quench: HOLY CRAP A FULL SIZE PRODUCT! Whoopsie doodles, it’s just a lip balm. That’s cool here is my $27!

The fact that they feel this is going to make any of us sold on the value of the box makes me think they need better air circulation in their building…

Glo Minerals - Lash Boosting Mascara
Glo Minerals – Lash Boosting Mascara

Glo Minerals – Lash Boosting Mascara: WAIT THERE IS ANOTHER FULL SIZED PRODUCT! It’s mascara. This is supposed to be lash boosting with antioxidants. I am dubious that antioxidants penetrate the hair shaft. I mean I have no idea. I do like this formula personally because it does not irritate my eyes. A nicer product to include and I am thankful it made it in.

I hope this formula washes easily out of pillow cases because I get mascara everywhere when I pass out!

Skin Ceuticals - Resveratrol B E, Metacell Renewal B3 and Skinmedica - Replenish Hydrating Cream (Note: That is a drop of water in the corner not bird dookie)
Skin Ceuticals – Resveratrol B E, Metacell Renewal B3 and Skinmedica – Replenish Hydrating Cream (Note: That is a drop of water in the corner not bird dookie)

Skin Ceuticals – Resveratrol B E, Metacell Renewal B3 and Skinmedica – Replenish Hydrating Cream: These samples are so small and disappointing I am not even going to bother. I will say this is some BS Beauty Fix.

Seriously.

Bliss - Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask
Bliss – Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask

Bliss – Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask: Things with “Triple Oxygen” in it makes me belly laugh. I want to get into marketing cosmetics. I would call things “Super Double Fragrance Molecules Now With Smelling Power!”

I probably wouldn’t be able to sleep at night… what with all the piles of money stuffed under my mattress…

Verdict: Not at all worth the price. Not by any standard. I was stalking Nana on her blog and Facebook (I stalk therefore I care) and she full out messaged their Facebook about it like a BOSS. If it weren’t for all the red wine dribbling down my chin I would have messaged her about it. You can check out her honest review by clicking here. (Do it she is super awesome).

Disclosure: Obvious from my bitterness I bought this sub with my own money.

Your not really supposed to wash your face in the morning if it makes you feel better. The oils are supposed to be good for you provided that some washing/treatment action goes on before snoozing. Just a splash of water for the eye gunk area says a dermotologist that I only saw once. Sometimes I see this statement made by media and it’s usually from peeps that do not have any care for making money in beauty industry.

Well I feel a little better… LOL I got called out in my Pilates class a couple Saturdays ago for showing up with full on eye make up from the night before. I was just like “listen ladies if you like this old make up you’re going to love how much like booze my sweat smells like right now…” As you can infer I am very popular with people in real life….. Sigh

All I can is wow. The review made me laugh, but the items are disappointing. I’ll happily accept any curl products that are sulfate and paraben free.

You got it girl! And thank you so much as always!

It is a wonder anyone could find that soap in their boxes! Hair is dead, does not need antioxidants….

I am SO glad I canceled this box a few months ago. It really had some good boxes there, but seems to be going downhill – like so many other boxes right now.

Very sad little box. Gotta go check out Nana’s review

Yeah Nana isn’t afraid. She also took better pics then I did!

I still can’t get over the size of the soap. The clips look great, but being packaged in something labeled free and then selling it???

Right?!? It’s just odd. The soap is so small…this month sucked!

I really agree with you regarding this month. So disappointed and I have straight hair so the hair care will not work for me. I am giving them one more month to bounce back as this is usually one of my favorites.

That soap is doll house sized, free clips that aren’t free? Lame.
You both are SubGoddesses, -Substance and Style in your reviews.

That is so sweet of you to say and I bask in compliments like a fat cat showing her belly! I’m seriously thinking about complaining about the box but Nana did such a good job on Facebook…

Great review – had me laughing out loud of course! However, I’m one of the only weirdos who actually kind of liked this box… Oh well.

I got my August box yesterday and I love it! Everything looks great and is new to me so I can’t wait to try them all. Good sizes too!!

Is it weird that I don’t mind to try things that aren’t for my “type”? I have dry skin (winter especially) but I don’t mind trying products for oily skin in summer. And I have wavy/frizzy hair that I usually straighten but will still try volume stuff just to see what it does. I don’t purposely buy these things but if I get them in subs… Why not?

I actually enjoy trying stuff that isn’t supposed to be for me as well. I mean if it’s there why not? Now that I have the blog though I can just send Sub Bella all the hair stuff for thick hair, since mine is soooo thin!

I think I was spoiled by the past boxes. With tax dear store is nearly $30 for me so I just need a better value for my personal needs. I use the hair clips at least!

What’s your fav in the August box? Now I’m feeling remorse for canceling!

I haven’t tried any of it yet but I’m most excited about the SmartFx Smart Eye Wrinkle Lift. I’m also really interested in the Alterna densifying foam and the Medicell even though I don’t have an issue with redness. The mask, shampoo, conditioner and face washes look great too… I just like it all!

The box does look nice! Is the foam a daily thing I wonder? I think they came back from the meh box last month (I know you liked it but they spoiled me!) Maybe once I get through my stash I will get back on the train!
