Collectible Geek Grab Bag Cache Review

Disclosure: This box was paid for by me. There are no affiliate links in this post.

Collectible Geek earlier this month offered a Grab Bag Cache as a post Fourth of July sale. I ordered Collectible Geek subscription boxes in the past. I purchased one Grab Bag Cache for my boys to share.  I purchased the box on July 5th, and it arrived on July 13th. I was holding off on the review because my older son wanted to write it but has been too busy. Now I am writing it.

Subscription: Collectible Geek Grab Bag Cache

Cost: Grab Bag Cache $20.00 Shipping & Handling $9.75

What to Expect: ” We also put together some great GRAB BAG CACHES for you, each will contain 5 items 3 of which are guaranteed to be FUNKO products, and just to keep things interesting 17 of these special caches will have Exclusive POP!s that we have never sent out in a cache before. “

Did Collectible Geek send what was promised? Read below to find out. But first, a little rant. Why do geek/gamer boxes have high shipping costs? I also notice a trend in new subscription boxes to charge for shipping. I suggest they read CrateJoy forum and learn about postage pirate. Cratejoy forums are an interesting read for subscribers who spend a lot of time waiting for children and appointments.

Here’s the official box. My little guy was working hard at trying to look natural.

Collectible Geek Goodies

This box arrived when my older son was at a sleepaway camp. It was hard for my little guy to hold off on claiming items.

A family of Groots!
A family of Groots!

A family of Groots! Groot is from the Guardians of the Galaxy and is a fan a favorite.  Going from left to right:  Loot Crate Glow in the Dark Exclusive Groot; Dancing Baby Groot, which I bought from Target. Lastly, Groot from Collective Geek. Funko item 1!

Vinyl
The Joker and Vision

Joker Interchangeable Magnetic Vinyl and Marvel Avengers Age of Ultron Blind box- Vision.  Funko items 2 & 3. Collectible Geek came through.

Teenage Muntant Nija Turtles
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

These items are from the May 2015 box which was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle theme. My little guy loves the posters. He is disappointed that he is not allowed to read the comic because of the subject matter. My older son was excited to read it because he heard what happened in the comic.

Captain America socks.
Captain America socks.

The Captain America socks are from the April 2015 Assembled themed box. I have mix feelings about the socks because I don’t recognize the brand. I can’t place the other item. Is it from Firefly? ETA It’s the Stargate Portal. Thank you, SDBear!

Dungeons and Dragons
Dungeons and Dragons

KRE-O Dungeons & Dragons Army Builder Pack: My little guy was disappointed that it was not a warrior that could be part of his Lego Chima battles. He has no clue to what is Dungeons & Dragons. This is from the February 2015 box.

Verdict: The grab bag cache provided a great selection for my boys. They were able to divide it up fairly. The only repeat received were the Captain America socks. It helped that we ordered the DeadPool Cache in December, the 80s Cache in March, and the Assemble IWIA box in April which reduced the risk of repeats.

Any geek or gamer fans? What do you think of the box? Share below and whatever else is on your mind.

I think the mystery item is the transporter thingy covered in chevrons from the movie & tv series, Stargate.

I’m eternally waiting for my grab bag from the Animation cache. I hate the shipping times on this box.

I also haaaaaaaaaaaaate how EVERY geek box charges ridiculous amounts for shipping. Arg. ARG I SAY. I would subscribe to more geek boxes if they included shipping in the cost. :/

They should send us cat treats for making us wait so long. My older son drove me crazy waiting for the Assemble Cache.

Same here. Some of the shipping charges are equal to half the price of the box. Last year a bunch of new boxes came out. I think all of them charged shipping. My sons love the boxes, but I hate paying for shipping. Build it into the price of the box!
