In Real Life – Pool Bound!

In Real Life is a new series of posts where I show pics of actual items out in the world. I think I have been liking the idea of all the stuff I have been getting but as the pile grows I have realized I’m not using a whole lot.

What am I waiting for?

Please feel free to send me pics or comment with what you use in boxes and what you don’t. Who knows we might help other subscription lovers and get some ideas!

Last weekend I hit up the pool to try my hand at getting a little bit of color. It became sort of cloudy but I had a nice time actually using some of the items that I had!

MSA Kloverbox Tote
MSA Kloverbox Tote
Popsugar MSA Kloverbox
Popsugar MSA Kloverbox

Towel – Popsugar

Tote – MSA & Kloverbox (I already got sand in this and I haven’t been to the beach…)

Beer – Modern Times (Don’t let the can fool you because it is such a GREAT beer!!!)

In a lot of style blogs they always write ” I styled this with this blah blah” and I seriously have the urge to say “I styled the Popsugar Towel because it was spot on for the occasion. Of course I had to pair it with the tote because it tote-tally made sense for bringing up my beer.”

Yes. People were looking at me as I took pictures of this stuff. I tried to pretend I was a photographer but it was a little embarrassing.

I guess there is a reason I don’t write style anything!!!

Have you used any of these items yet?

I took the PSMH Baggu, to Ojai for girls weekend. I am using the Tatcha cream from MSA, KB box. Adorable idea, much appreciated, thank you.

      Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!

Oh the Baggu!!! I left that at my place in Portland so when I go up there I can fit in and not need a *gasp* plastic bag. I want to go to Ojai!!! I could totally drive there but never have.

How is the cream? I won’t even open it to smell it. OMG what if cat hair got in it and then PA Anna got it?

I figure this might make getting all this stuff more fun to actually have. I have been swimming in stuff and it has made me sort of depressed. So naturally I needed to figure out a way to challenge myself to use it AND to see what you ladies are doing!

Ojai is delightful, it gets very hot in summer and, September though. I got the weekend tote Baggu that is really big. The Tatcha cream has minimal scent, and I’m very scensitive, ; 0)
Re. your, stuff overliad, do a purge both with products and subs. Donate, swap, gift what you won’t use before it, expires. Then, Use Some Boxes Without Lids, IN Drawers, With lids, If needed. now, Put Like With like, Hair products, mascara, sunscreen, etc. put travel and samples in your toiletry travel bag. prioritize top 3 subs and you should feel depressed feeling go. especially from those who get your unneeded goodies.

You have inspired me! I wish I could stay up all night and just make it happen! I want to go through my clothing as well. I always have too much stuff. I have to keep the subs mostly for the blog. Unless I can figure out another way to write. I like the platform of reviewing things. I started out with Yelp and it proved to be a really easy way for me to express myself…

          Donating is a great idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You could do a blog post or a challenge about it. don’t like having stuff lying around in boxes. Everything that I keep is put away and then the rest is given away mostly to my sister who receives a couple of subs once in a while. I also include items that I haven’t used yet as extras in a swap, but i don’t swap much. My beauty items, except for hair and nails, need to fit in 2 boxes. I am using the decorative boxes from Michaels.

What amazes me is how much my children claim from my boxes. Even things such as the blanket from Burke Decor and the Beach House pillow. I do have too many candles at the moment which is funny because earlier this year I thought I was going to run out.

I’m in the unique position that I am limited in what I can use for beauty items which helps a lot. My sister uses most of the item I can’t use.

What I need to do is finish my craft boxes!!!

Lol I feel you on the craft boxes! I’m really wanting to at least finish one… I’d feel pretty good lol

Yep, I love reviewing stuff. I got into it almost twenty years ago, people were posting restaurant reviews on a local food newsgroup and I started doing the same. I don’t actually expect anyone to read my reviews, but I do go back to them myself to remind me of what I thought of something I may be about to try again.

Anyway, after this week I’m ending my obsession with subscription boxes. I’m keeping Birchbox because after this month I have it for free until 2017. I’ll keep Ipsy until my daughter no longer wants it. And I’ll keep LLB as long as I find value in it – not necessarily in the price of the items but in my enjoyment of them. For example, I have so enjoyed discovering the Cucina dishwashing liquid that the April box was justified just by that 🙂

I was sure I would keep Beauty Fix, but this month was sooooo disappointing that I’ll give it one more month, if August’s isn’t great, I’ll just drop it.

I am going to continue on and then cut back as I develop more things that I hope you all will continue to read. I was super duper into Yelp and will still try to continue being an Elite but it sucks not to own your own content. I also had some drama with a rando Elite guy who I never met who decided it would be fun to make a whole thread calling me out for “having no life” because my take on life is different then his. Dude was so rando and mean. When I complained to Yelp about it they didn’t do anything and that made me sad. I am still Elite and so is he, but it woke me up to a lot of things.

I am still finding my voice I think but as long as I get people commenting and giving me feedback I will get better. I am sort of a lazy writer…

I am not sure if this was the same for you, but did you gain weight when reviewing a lot of restaurants? I gained so much after joining Yelp!

    Ohhhh… Like this post!
I am nesting now and just categorizing my items …. Swimming in sunscreen especially since I always cannot part from getting the annual Sephora Sun Kit.
Want to figure out how to use the nice boxes (e.g., Zoe, Burke) in a more organized way. Only keeping the really cute BBs my yearly ended waiting for a good promo until this got lots of minis to use up.
I use the Zoe sunnies allot.

      Thanks Pnut!

I love the Sephora Sun Kit but I was too slow to get it. I need to reapply sunscreen more. They did this piece on a morning news show about sunscreen staying good for like 3 years, but if you have it that long then you aren’t using enough. I felt super guilty!

I am so JELLY you got the Zoe box! I just saw the spoilers and there is one item that is soooo awesome looking. I won’t ruin it just in case you don’t want to know. I just couldn’t believe how nice the box was!

I saw the Zoe spoilers lol! Also waiting/stalking MUT for PA Anna to post spoilers picts from her Burke box. Some freestanding Sephoras still have the kit even though it’s sold out online I think they overstocked it this year do not mean to enable but the years before were much better I would not run out to Sephora it is just some weird annual tradition of mine. Got them organized by year expiration/received. I have a thing with minis my addiction started with mini perfume bottles ….
Speaking of boxes got that 3 month GlobeIn promo for the 1 item in a basket.

I try never to go into any stores if I can help it. I just am so unfocused I waste tons of time and money. I am all about online! I also hate trying on clothing. I am so thankful for online shopping I can’t even express it!

I LOVE minis as well! I am so impressed you put them all into order. I have just started to shove them in the nooks and crannies of the bedroom. I think my mini obsession started when I was sent a sample of Teen Spirit deodorant. So long ago… before I was even a teen!

I am SO thinking about the new Globein promo! I was thinking about the full size as well. I need to cool it on the $ spending if I am every going to be able to buy enough Lotto tickets to win!!!

            July 2, 2015 at 3:39 am

There is a 3 month promo for the full size the code somewhere on MSA discussion on the mini promo. Granted the full size is a better value but I am not really wowed by the reviews on them (I did envy the picnic one but have enough bentos again with the containers) and I should limit myself not to collect those cute baskets lol.
Yea I prefer Sephora online for the no-fuss free samples and GWP codes too. I was a GWP addict prior to this box addiction. Ironically I still follow postings on another blog and it’s actually called GWPaddict!

I posted my Burke box on MUT yesterday. I love my Globe-In boxes. The bigger one worked great with my family. I’m glad that they started the the small size. It fits in my current budget. I have upcoming medical bills 🙁

They are already trashing Burke on MUA.
I have not received mine yet (this is my second box) but I liked the spoiler picts you posted.
Would use the empty container for my TJ’s olive oil.
Like you, always wanted the set never snapped one up and sweet that it lights up!
The last item is going in the drawer with like textile items will toss something out from there as to not crowd the drawer.
I think I will keep my Burke sub on monthly the items are on the higher-end and like our Blog Hero, I am into online value subbing/shopping.

Great pics! I like the box a lot! I have hand arthritis and it’s sweet to see those items. I like the way you took the photos. I think the bottle in perfect for oil so light doesn’t get in and degrade it.

You should carry the tea towel in your pocket. Then when your with people but eating at a fast food or super casual restaurant you can whip it out with a flourish and put it on your lap. Then look at the other animals around you with their paper napkins and wonder how they were let out of the barn!

  3. July 2, 2015 at 3:29 am

Haha! I’ve thought of doing this and then weighed the side-eyes-per-second I might get to length of time it would take me to get a non-blurry photo that didn’t look like I was trying as hard as I was to make my stuff look like they belonged… And moved on. But now you’ve inspired me!

I didn’t even think about it until I actually did it. It was SO weird. People were looking at me like I was crazy. I just wanted to shout “Dude this is for my blog, I have like 5 readers who NEED to see this!” But I just tried to pretend I was doing it for a big purpose. I did not expect that at all. July 2, 2015 at 4:40 am

So I studied for the permit test. I am a “book smart” type even if my writing doesn’t show it. BUT I passed my permit test with 100% because my twin sisters best friend failed the permit test like 3 or 4 times and they let her keep the failed tests. She gave them to us and the last one i studied was the exact same one I took. I swear I took the whole test in like a minute and then just sat there pretending to take a test just in case…

That same chick? She ended up getting her permit which makes me full body shiver because she was not someone I would let on the road.

So does he have a dumb friend? If so, have the friend take the test first! 😉

I did some sleuthing for you and it seems that Tom’s doesn’t have baking soda. Instead they use zing ricinoleate and you can read all about the ingredient in their website:

I use that towel in the shower, finding out that is my favorite type of towel to use, smooth on one side and the terry just on one side. It has been so hot here I am really worried about my huge sub box stash going bad. Have a few blush/eyeshadows that are weeping. We are on like day 10 of 90+ heat… We have AC in some windows, but not in the bathroom where I store my huge stash.
