Little Lace Box Review – June 2015

Little Lace Box is a lifestyle subscription box that graces my cat hair covered condo every other month. Sometimes when I think about it I imagine the curators shocked faces that the box they took so much time to perfect and theme is sitting next to a woman with a red wine joker smile and a bowl of Trader Joe’s Baconaise Popcorn.

Sorry bout that LLB!

This month’s theme had something to do with accessories and being fabulous. Cool! They decided that getting back to old school Hollywood roots would be a good idea. I am all for that as long as I don’t have to wear those old school pointy bras. Those were weird…

Ya know, the more I think about them the more I want one! I could refer to my chest as “vintage.”

Yay! My box is here!

LLB - Watercolor Print Scarf
LLB – Watercolor Print Scarf

LLB – Watercolor Print Scarf: This was made by LLB and is 100% silk. It is a pretty scarf and I like that it is made from silk because little worms spun it for me. In a way, wrapping myself in this scarf would be like encasing myself in a cocoon. Unwrapping it in a flourish I could emerge a butterfly! I stuck a bit of my paw in the wrapper to ensure that it was silky.

Despite giving me a ton of ideas on how to use this scarf and even urging me nicely “not to be afraid,” I am sending this on to PA Anna and so did not want to take it all the way out of the plastic. I just am not going to wear a scarf living in San Diego. I feel so overly warm all the time.

They do point out if that if I would “rather not wear the scarf,” I can “tie it to my favorite handbag for a splash of color.” If I do that then my handbags will KNOW which one is my favorite and it may cause infighting.

Kitsch - Ring

Kitsch – Ring: This ring was meant for the February box but the Goat Syndicate Power Grab West Coast strike meant it couldn’t be included. Worth the wait! There were two options one with turquoise and the other with amethyst. I received amethyst and could not be happier! It is a little big but that means I should probably eat more to fit into it right?!?

Since this ring is only available from LLB it is like a secret society ring, except it isn’t a secret… or a society…

LucyB's Apothecary - Nail Lacquer (Starlet)
LucyB’s Apothecary – Nail Lacquer (Starlet)

LucyB’s Apothecary – Nail Lacquer (Starlet): There were two polish choices that were matched with the ring you received. LLB does mention that they have read reviews and comment’s that note nail polish is something that comes in every box.  LLB heard you, still, they wanted to take you from “day to dinner” so maybe you should help them help you?

This company has both an “imagine and soul.” I barely have one of those things…

LLB - "Pour Some Sugar Scrub On Me" Sugar Scrub (Oatmeal Milk & Honey)
LLB – “Pour Some Sugar Scrub On Me” Sugar Scrub (Oatmeal Milk & Honey)
LLB - "Pour Some Sugar Scrub On Me" Sugar Scrub (Oatmeal Milk & Honey) back
LLB – “Pour Some Sugar Scrub On Me” Sugar Scrub (Oatmeal Milk & Honey) back

LLB – “Pour Some Sugar Scrub On Me” Sugar Scrub (Oatmeal Milk & Honey): They sent out four different scents. I am curious about the one scent “Lollabambooza” because I dig booze and actually know what what it is referring to. So score one for being over 30!

They allude to another scrub being $48 for 6 ounces and that this was their version of that brand. I believe I just cracked open the product they are talking about and will try to do a head to head. Anyway, I can’t help but like the sort of catty fun they have with it and if that makes a me a bad person I already know.

Is it weird that “Oatmeal Milk & Honey” has no milk or honey in it?

San Diego Hat Co. - The Packable Summer Hat

San Diego Hat Co. – The Packable Summer Ha (rolled)

San Diego Hat Co. – The Packable Summer Hat: I felt chills when I opened the box and saw this hat because I had just been joking on this site about what I would put in my Beach Box if I had curated one. This and the scarf where mentioned. Weirder still, LLB knows where I live...

I actually like this hat a lot because I have what is scientifically know as a “hat head.” Those with my condition tend to take to hats and feel (rightly or not) that most hats look good on them. I also like that this folds for easy packing. Because someway, somehow, I am going to go somewhere.

I swear living in San Diego did not influence me at all…

LLB - June
LLB – June

Verdict: Weirdly two items were in my pretend Beach Box. I am shocked the bag of Cheetos did not make it in, but this box is a little nicer than what I would ever cobble together. For me the value was good and I found many of the items to be useful! I do understand the criticism that LLB is getting because of this month’s lack of “up and coming” artists/designers. I personally just care about whether or not I like a box and this one was a win for me.

TJ <3! Need to try out that popcorn. Try the red wine with the yellow smiley face. Do you like Milanos TJ has a copycat that is my new fav there…
Put some TJs items in a subscription box container like our MSA/Kloverbox and open up a TJ discussion/taking out our sub goodies in the real world 😉
Love the "little worms spun it for me" comment!

Thanks Pnut! I didn’t know they had their own Milanos! Soo yum yum! I’ll try the happy face wine. What type of red is it (I’ll drink anything)

Not sure not one in the wine rack …. Perhaps merlot? Husband likes dark red wine.
I got a package of the Milanos though they are called TRader Joe’s Crispy Cookies filled with Belgian Chocolate!

I am going tomorrow to get all these things. I want to drink happy wine, eat cookies, and watch trash tv. These are personal goals.

This box was a win for me too. I am giving the scarf to my Ohio buddy, and I got a ring in turquoise. Between LLb, Rachel Zoe, and Msa, kloverbox, my exfoliation needs are met. Thanks for review.

      Thank you for your comments!

Yeah now if we have dry gross skin it is totally our own faults!

So was the scrub from LLB supposed to be a dupe for the Kloverbox one?

Ok. I’ll ask one question. How is honey vegan? Or is the label saying it’s 95 percent vegan? Guess that’s 2 questions.

I read the review and appreciated the comment about “bag” grammar.

Lol! I really should get a standard disclosure. As always I just sort of cobble together things…

I give up. We need a weekly comment thread. Somewhere you posted that I could view any box I received. You may want to rethink those parameters. I don’t know how you want your blog. I also receive faith based boxes, children boxes, and the occasional adult box.

Comprimise. Anna do what you do for MUT and forward it to Subscriptionista who will add her commentary/flourish?

I will work on her lol

It is so hard to come home and write AND find the time to drink all the red wine…

She’s making me write them and post them. They’ll be different than what I post on MUT in order to fit her theme.
