Burke Decor Review – July 2015 (yes, it’s confusing)

Disclosure: There are no affiliate links in this post. The box was paid for by me.

I’m at a place in life where I am dreaming about matching plates, breakable items out in the open, and decor that reflects good taste. My 16 year old did break a dish by accident last week so maybe my house isn’t quite ready yet. This has led me to try out decor boxes.

I believe there has been confusion about the monthly boxes because the April box resulted in 2 boxes being sent out to most, if not all, subscribers. This had led to confusion about the box month. According to the information card this is July’s box.  Burke Decor has also changed its subscription policies. Straight from the website “First box ships out at the end of the month in which it is purchased. Monthly subscriptions to follow ship the last week of the month.”  Click here to read additional details about changes to the Burke Box Subscription.

Subscription: Burke Decor Home Box

Cost: $55.00/ monthly This box can be purchased onetime, monthly, every other month, or every 3 months.

What to Expect: 3-4 home items to keep your house freshly styled.

Here’s the first look at the Burke Decor Home Box.

What my house does not look like.
A very small, tiny part of my house.

Fissure Glass Bulb Vase design in black by Torre & Tagus:  The home decor universe feels that my whole house looks like this tiny section. This is a beautiful black vase with threads of white glass on it. I can appreciate the style while wishing it was not BLACK! It has a good weight to it. The dimensions are 6d” x 7.75h”. I used silk flowers in the picture because the deers have eaten all my tall flowers. Also, I can not dirty the vase because I am sending it to Subscriptionista as a birthday gift. Happy Birthday Month, Subscriptionista!

The vase reminds me of Hershey kisses. Hershey is located in Pennsylvania.

Hand-Painted Shagreen Tray by Tozai in Jade: I went to Tozai’s website to read about the significance of the white spot. Alas, they did not feel it was necessary to let us know. The dimensions are 1.5″ x 6.5″ x7.5″.

The great white stripe will be as mysterious to us as Jupiter’s Red Spot.

It’s a beautiful tray that I am going to place in the master bedroom. The Made in America barrette is available from Artistry Gifts.

If Subscriptionista thinks I can rock a toe ring in my 40s, I can easily rock a butterfly barrette.

Shagreen refers to a texture made from skin of rays, sharks or dogfish. This tray is handpainted to replicate the texture and appearance of shagreen.

This blog is saving rays, sharks, dogish, whales, dolphins, coves, bunnies and Bambi!

Kai Nightlight Candle design by Kai Fragrance

Kai Nightlight Candle design by Kai Fragrance: Once upon a time I was new to subscription boxes. There was a box called FabFitFun Spring 2014 that people were going crazy over because it had a full-size Kai perfume oil. You could buy the whole box for less than the cost of the perfume oil. I didn’t understand then, I do know.

I can’t explain Kai. It smells sensual and relaxing at the same time. The made in the USA candle has an intoxicating scent of exotic white flowers.

Now I understand the craziness over Kai.

I always look forward to Burke Decor because i never know what I will receive. The tray is a big hit for me along with Kai. I even like the vase. I am looking forward to next month’s box.

What do you think of this month’s Burke Decor box? Do you have a favorite item? Share below and anything else on your mind.

The white stripe reminds me of “cat’s eye” stone but more like that evil guy’s eye thinge in The Lord Of The Rings. as long as I have it covered with my preciouses, I am not bothered. Keeping my monthly sub.
As predicted, peeps are pissed with “shaker envy”. If Burke placed coasters in that box maybe the biatchery would like this box more.

UGH I am setting up our social media stuff and EWWWWW it keeps trying to connect the blog with people in my contacts and such. These people are so awful and I don’t want ANYTHING to do with them. I am not sure how it even knew of people from high school even! That is crazy!

Anyways, I am working on that stuff now so we can get our surprise going!

That vase is fabulous! I grew up in Indonesia and have a very SE Asian theme in my house (most of my decor is from Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia) so that would fit right in.

The hay is also making me jealous. I spend so much money every month on hay but the horses do like to eat.

CeciliaA – Thank you for commenting! We had a horse hay buyer come up to our farm from Floirda with his 18 wheeler a couple of years ago. I can’t imagine what he charges for the hay. The hay you see in the picture is going to organic cows that will produce yummy organic milk.

I go back every few years. I don’t always get back to Indonesia but usually make it to Singapore for a few days. I still have family in Oz so when I go there I can hit up some other spots. I love Thailand too!

I love NZ so much. I think OZ would be better if I had family there. I have a handful of close friends who live there but it would be cool to post up where someone will make food for me, and listen to my various ailments. “My tummy hurts because I ate to much Haigh’s chocolates!!” I need a tsk tsk, poor thing!

LOL. My family isn’t usually that sympathetic but my standard complaint is that my head hurts because I indulged in too much Bundaberg OP!
