Disclosure: This box was paid for by me. There are referral links in this post.
My older son loves geek/gamer boxes. I had to cut back his boxes because raising a teenager is expensive! I do subscribe to them when I know it will be a hit with him. Geek Fuel released a spoiler that I knew my son would love. I forgot about ordering the box and saw a review. Fortunately for him, the box was available to purchase. The August box is no longer available for purchase as of today. Cross-Country and Tae Kwon Do is keeping him busy, leaving this non-gamer mother to write the review.
Subscription: Geek Fuel
Cost: $17.90 + $6.00 shipping/Monthly There are additional plans for 3, 6, and 12 months. I noticed that most, if not all, gamer/geek boxes charges shipping. I don’t think of the cost as $17.90 + $6.00 shipping. I think of the cost as $23.90.
What to Expect: An exclusive t-shirt, a full computer game, and other items value over $50.00.
Look at all the great items. T is happy with this box. There is a lollipop missing in the picture.
The Dead Pool shirt is the reason I purchased the box for T. He finds Deadpool funny because he breaks the 4th wall. The Dead Pool movie is scheduled to be released on February 12th. T-shirts can generate a lot of discussion in geek/gamer boxes. Geek Fuel makes it easy to select a t-shirt size by offering men and women sizes. There is a chart in the FAQ to assist you in sizing. The shirt (not the print) is Gildan 100% heavy cotton made in the Dominican Republic. A neat aspect of the shirt is that the tag is a tearaway. No tags will be digging into your neck. I don’t know if the actual shirt minus the print is the same each month.
What are the chances that this movie will be rated PG-13? Ugh!
Updated – My son informed me that the movie has been rated R since April.
The World According to Wolverine: Geek Fuel subscribers received this book or The World According to Spiderman. T is a huge Wolverine fan and went as him to a masquerade semi-formal a couple years ago. I’m glad that is the book we received. There are seven The World According to Superheroes titles. Check them out.
Zelda is impressed with Wolverine’s claws.
T could not wait for photos. He had to have his TMNT lollipop before his younger brother discovered it.
Subscription box food is a big deal in my house.
Pocket Pop! Keychain Adventure Time Finn: My older son has no interest in the remaining items. I do not know why the age for the keychain is 14+. I know nothing about Adventure Time except that I never hear kids discuss it. It’s always adults that discuss watching it. This is in my little corner of the world which may be different than other corners of the world.
He looks happy…I think.
What makes Geek Fuel stand out from other geek boxes? A downloadable game code is including every single month. This month’s downloadable game is Aaru’s Awakening. It is downloadable on Steam. The back of the box says Caution: Flammable and fireworks. Fireworks?
Seriously, I have no clue what those white things are or what they do.
Fallout 4 is a role -playing video game that will be released on November 10, 2015. The most interesting part to me when reading up on Fallout 4 is that you can elect to have a dog. The dog will respond to commands and never die.
Cola never goes away.
The Geekfuel magazine has great information in it. It was instrumental in helping me write this review.
Now you know why I sound knowledgeable!
Verdict:The August 2015 Geek Fuel box is a big hit with my 16 year old. The box felt more teenager/adult to him than family friendly. I’ve been watching Geek Fuel since its first box and agrees. I also think this is the only box to consistently have a game in it.

I snorted at the Zelda comment! LOL
I love the shirt! I actually really like this box and it seems pretty awesome to get hard to find items!
The fireworks we call poppers and you throw them on the ground and they make a popping sound. We tried them out once and they were fun to do but since getting my dogs we never got them again, I didn’t want the poppers to scare them.
Ooh. I know what those white “firecracker” things are. We played with them when we were little. You throw them on the ground (sidewalk, street) and they make a pop sound like a firecracker. They may have had a slight smoke to them, I don’t remember. But definitely not fireworks.
Great Shirt And review.
Thank you everyone!
