5th Avenue Style Deluxe Box Review – October 2015

I read a 5th Avenue Style review and decided to purchase the box. People may wonder if bloggers receive a better box. This box was intended for a customer. 5th Avenue Style was unaware that this box would be reviewed on a blog.

Subscription: 5th Avenue Style Deluxe Box One Time Purchase

Cost: $159.00

What to Expect: 4-5 luxury branded pieces with a minimum value of $500.00

Notes: I purchased the one-time option. 5th Avenue offers a monthly deluxe subscription box at $159.00 per month. The monthly deluxe subscription is the same as what I purchased. It is 4-5 branded items with a minimum value of $500.00.

5th Avenue Style also offers a subscription box for $98.00 a month. The subscription box offers 4-5 luxury non-branded items with a minimum value of $350.00.

5th Avenue Style has a short survey and note section that you fill out prior to purchasing a one-time box or starting a subscription. I strongly suggest utilizing the note section to allow the curator to meet better your expectations.

Little Lamb has not given up on finding the lotion bar.
Little Lamb has not given up on finding the lotion bar.

Little Lamb is sniffing over the box to see if there are any goodies for him. The box arrived inside a shipping box. I placed my order on September 22, received an email on October 2 that it will ship October 6th. It was accepted on October 7th and arrived on October 9th at my house. The box I purchased is a one-time purchase. Double-check the details when ordering a monthly subscription.

The box
The box

The box has magnetic closures.  It’s not on par with the Oui Please box. I wasn’t expected it to be either. I’m sharing my observation because we are a blog that takes sunscreen, cats, and packaging seriously!

Lots of items
Lots of items

Did your heart skip a beat when you saw the picture?  The box is packed full of items. I have visions of a scarf, handbag, and jewelry dancing through my head.  Will my expectation match what is received?

Romeo and Juliet Crystal and Amethesty Statement Neclklace
Crystal and Amethyst Statement Necklace Gold/Multi- Romeo & Juliet

Romeo and Juliet Couture Crystal and Amethyst Statement Necklace: I took the pictures outside on a bright sunny day. I am not a jewelry stylist and do not have mannequins etc. to style jewelry properly. The description in the picture is the description on the 5th Avenue Style Packing Slip.

It’s a pretty necklace that I will wear. It’s a little out of my comfort zone, but no one will know that when they see me wearing it.

It’s a branded accessory as described for the deluxe box. It does have white in it even though I marked white as a dislike.

Does it remind you of romance?

Layered Chain with Crystal Necklace Gold/White – RJ Graziano
Layered Chain with Crystal Necklace Gold/White – RJ Graziano

RJ Graziano Layered Chain & Beaded Bib Necklace:  The link shows that this is a clearance item at Neiman Marcus. The necklace has white in it.

I’m disappointed by the lack of color. The necklace redeems itself by looking wonderful on me. It will be put to use for the upcoming holiday season.

It’s a branded item!

I feel snobby writing it’s a branded item. I’m writing it to see if 5th Avenue delivers what it promises.

Geometrical Stone Statement Necklace Gold/Hematite Alta Vintage
Geometrical Stone Statement Necklace Gold/Hematite Alta Vintage

Alta Vintage: I contacted 5th Avenue to find out if vintage referred to the age of the jewelry or the design. 5th Avenue responded that all items are new.

I did not like the necklace until I tried it on. I have the perfect shirt to wear with it!

The design will also pick up the color of your clothes because of the open shapes.

It’s a branded item.

I wouldn’t have to ask inquisitive questions if I could find the companies on the internet!

Medieval Inspired Stone Pendant Necklace Silver/Amethyst – Private Label
Medieval Inspired Stone Pendant Necklace Silver/Amethyst – Private Label

Medieval Inspired Stone Pendant Necklace Silver/Amethyst: I’m not sure why a private label is included in a branded box.  I like the design. I did not ask 5th Avenue Style because of the amount of items I received.

Closer look

It does not strike me as a  timeless/classic style. Does anyone know if the design has a meaning associated with it?

I could use the pendant to hypnotize the cats to take on the goat syndicate!

Hammered Open Style Cuff Bracelet Matte Gold/Neutral – Rivka Friedman
Hammered Open Style Cuff Bracelet Matte Gold/Neutral – Rivka Friedman

Rivka Friedman Cuff: I wasn’t able to locate this specific cuff on the internet. It has an interesting design that will go with my fall look.

hinge
hinge

The cuff comes with a hinge to make it easy to wear. The cuff did not bother my arm or wrist.

I do not know if cuff bracelets are considered to be classic and timeless. I was cuff bracelet ignorant until a couple years ago.

Unless we are talking about the bedroom. Wait, wrong kind of review!

Tear Drop Crystal Cuff Bracelet Gold/White Romeo & Juliet
Tear Drop Crystal Cuff Bracelet Gold/White Romeo & Juliet

Romeo & Juliet Tear Drop Cuff Bracelet:  I requested no white. The word white is in the description. I do not consider this to be a timeless or a classic piece.

Side View
Side View

I have no clue to the metal content of the bracelet.

Hinged cuff
Hinged cuff

It is hinged allowing for a better fit. It came with a tag that you can see on the right-hand side of the photo that states Romeo & Juliet Couture.

I can’t decide if I love it or hate it. I don’t think there is an in-between feeling for this cuff.

. Jeweled Flower Knit Headband Black
Jeweled Flower Knit Headband Black – Cara

Cara Knit Headband: The headband is black. I will be using the headband soon and it is a good choice for my area.

I am going to feel stylish wearing my headband!

Verdict: It is difficult to write this verdict. I spent $159.00 on 4 necklaces, 2 bracelets, and a headband. The box lacked variety and ignored my dislike of white. I do not think all the selections fit the timeless/classic style. I am disappointed to not receive a scarf especially when a scarf is shown in their styling photos. I had a hard time finding the companies and accessories online and do not know if my 5th Avenue Box value is over $500.00. I do not know the type of metals used in the jewelry. An information card would be helpful in letting subscribers know metal mixtures especially for those with allergy concerns. I have no clue what type of metal is used in the Romeo and Juliet Cuff Bracelet.

5th Avenue Style is new to the sub box world and there will be bumps in the beginning. I advise using the note section to detail further what you desire and like. 5th Avenue Box went beyond the 3-4 item in my box. The extra items were a pleasant surprise. I will use everything except for the Romeo & Juliet Cuff. I still can’t make up my mind on that cuff!

Disclosure: There are no affiliate links. This box was paid for by me.

I liked everything, except for huge rock bracelet, don’t get that. This collection is made for those who like white, weird. Thanks for wonderful review.

Thank you for reading and commenting!

“Unless we are talking about the bedroom. Wait, wrong kind of review!”

Where can I get that subscription box?! Lol.

I was underwhelmed by this. I could get you nicer brands for that price from a TK Maxx (UK’s TJ Maxx) I used to frequent in London. I keep getting excited to see reviews of this box, but it’s just meh.

    • October 13, 2015 at 2:22 pm

Phedre, thank you for commenting! Are TK Maxx and TJ Maxx related? I’m guessing because the names are similar.

SUbscriptionista and I discussed before about doing a “Women Want to Know” Series that would take adult boxes on a deeper level. No point in buying stuff if it is cheap or doesn’t do the job right!

      • October 13, 2015 at 2:35 pm

Sub Bella et al., you should check out the Netflix series called Frisky Business. We only watched the first episode, but it was sort of neat learning about this adult toy company for women. They repackage toys and things for women to make them more appealing. Plus, it’s set in the UK, which makes everything more interesting, right?? 😉

      • October 15, 2015 at 10:20 am

TK Maxx is just the UK name. In London they carried higher name brands than the ones I was used to in my rural US town.

I think you should do the adult reviews! If I had to start up a subscription box it would be an adult one geared towards more….Hmmm rough adulty stuff? I guess that’s a polite way to say it.

  3. October 12, 2015 at 9:23 pm

Honestly I only like the clearance item from Neiman Marcus because it is from Neiman Marcus!

Sorry you did not receive a scarf but I will keep note of that. You must have a huge scarf collection no?

Packaging looks great though everything in its little pouch. Totally right on with us taking sunscreen, cats, and packaging seriously!

    • October 13, 2015 at 2:23 pm

I’m guessing I have around 10 scarves. I never wore a scarf until subscription boxes. I saw that some people received a Valentino scarf!

      • October 13, 2015 at 4:26 pm

        Valentino!!!

Omg I just saw this review and I actually liked a lot of your items. I’ll write more tomorrow for tonight I snooze… Must be that hypotonic necklace !!!

    • October 13, 2015 at 2:24 pm

LOL. They are fun pieces 🙂

Yes, my heart did skip a beat seeing all those little bags! But by the time you got to the 4th necklace, I was kind of pissed. (*note – do not send more than 1 (or 2 if you prefer) of any single type of item!) That being said, I love that hypnotizing necklace! The others were nice too but I’d need to figure out what to wear them with and see how they look on… Plus also not sure about them being timeless/classic? Not my area of expertise though.

As far as “white”, from what I can tell in the photos, only the first necklace has white in a few of the center stones and I would think they’d only rule out a color as being the main color of an its but okay to include small amounts of it. For me, white is different than clear / crystal / bling in jewelry! I don’t like white accessories myself but love clear bling!!

Thank you for the great review (cuffs – ha!) so we now we all know to be more specific about things that you wouldn’t think you’d need to spell out…

Heat7918, I totally agree with everything you said.

Sub Bella, have you reached out to 5th Avenue Style about your disappointment in what you received? Like Heat, I would have been angry as I kept opening necklace after necklace (and I LOVE jewelry!), especially since what they sent are trendy rather than classic/timeless items.

Although I like some of the pieces you received, these brands are not what I would call “branded” items. Especially when I saw a box they sent to a blogger for review that had Kenzo and Erickson Beamon. I can’t imagine these items come to $500+. It seems as though they are buying up in bulk things that did not sell from department stores for their box. That would be ok, but then they should send you classic/timeless pieces that you asked for (which other than maybe a couple of pieces, they did not) rather than trendy stuff that may look dated.

Still not ok with you getting all jewelry and a jeweled headband.

      • October 13, 2015 at 2:42 pm

Artmeis – I have not reached out to them beyond the question about Alta Vintage. I agree with your assessment. My sister fell in love with a few pieces so I am going to keep the items. I may still send an email about it.

    • October 13, 2015 at 2:33 pm

Heat7918 – Thank you for your comments! I wondered what qualified as white too when writing the review. 5th Avenue Style’s descriptions listed two items as white. I felt those two items should have been excluded from the box.

TATCHA sent me an email about a $25.00 off of $50.00 special. It’s a discount code that I can send to friends via TATCHA’s website. You must be a first time TATCHA purchaser to use the code. Email me at subbellaboxes at yahoo dot com if you are interested. I have to go TATCHA’s website and use my email address to send the code to you.

I think you could rock the tar out of that cuff with a sweater dress. It would look like winter on your wrist!

  8. October 21, 2015 at 12:44 pm

I’m sooo mad!!!!! I read a 5th Avenue review today. A headband, a purse and other items. Same price box!!! I should have returned the box instead of giving away a couple of jewelry pieces.

    • Heat7918
      October 21, 2015 at 1:02 pm

I think I saw that same review… and I thought the same thing! Such BS.

      • October 21, 2015 at 1:10 pm

I’m rooting tooting mad with steam coming out of my ears!!! I need to take pretty pictures of a box and enjoy the somewhat warm day.

        • October 21, 2015 at 1:27 pm

I should further explain that I am not mad at the blogger. I am unhappy with 5th Avenue. Obviously they had more inventory to send out beyond the necklaces and bracelets.

If those pieces were the ones your sending me just return the box silly! Also mine is on its way should be interesting… You did the deluxe box right? Wasn’t that the subscription box that got a review today?

I did see another review today, and I was amazed at the variety she got! I am mad for you. Also, the purse was waaay cute, though I doubt I’d use it.

          • October 21, 2015 at 3:21 pm

Subscriptionista – The pieces I am sending you are from Relish. I’ve been using the one necklace and the bag.

Onderria – thanks 🙂 I like the bag from the first review better than the bag from the second review.

  9. October 22, 2015 at 10:42 pm

I was feeling totally seduced by this box until I read your review. $159 is on the high end of sub boxes and I would have liked to have seen some diversity
