Espionage Cosmetics: A Halloween Party and a New Box!

Disclaimer: There are no referral links in this post. I paid for the products and do not consider free cookies a bribe for a good review.

Because I love reading, last week I was trying to find nail wraps that looked like bookpages. That is how I stumbled across Espionage Cosmetics! [The name of which I keep accidentally writing as Costmetics, so they should probably change it to accommodate my mistake.] I saw on their Facebook page that they were having a Halloween Party at their boutique, and guests in costumes received one sheet of free nail wraps! Sold.

So, I spent my Sunday afternoon at the Espionage Cosmetics Geek Boutique with a family friend who is actually behind the blog Parenting Geekly [a purrfect companion to take to a geeky beauty shop!], as well as her kid and sister. Actually, two hours was spent driving to and from the location, and about thirty minutes was spent in the boutique. The shop was boutique-sized, and in an aging part of downtown Tacoma, WA that is full of empty store fronts, approximately 8.2 million antique shops, several random geek shops [such as Magic and games, pinball, steampunk, and more], very few restaurants, and a couple of corner swear-shouters [they were quite fond of the F word]. We never would have guessed there would be so many little geek and antique shops down there!

The fancy antique shop we wandered into.

I had to put a picture of the giant antique/auction place we found! It was creepy and really cool. Three floors, three different stairwells, all sorts of tiny rooms with antiques or barber shops. Very odd. Anyway, the book area was by far my favorite! Look at this stuff, isn’t it neat…?

Oh, back to the boutique!! While we were in the boutique, we perused their inventory of nail wraps [with glitter!], eyeshadows [with glitter!], lip glosses [GLITTER!], and lots of little fandom items from Harry Potter necklaces and bags, to poop emoji stuffies [no glitter], and books-turned-notebooks. Most of these items are viewable via their website.

Who am I?
Who am I?

Because we came in costumes, we each got a free nail wrap, and because it was a party there were cookies and wine. Pics are below of what I bought, but the free one was the tentacles wrap. >>insert excited emoji face here<< Can anyone guess who I went as??? I should’ve got a wig because my hair is like having a wild party, but this was like a morning-of decision and it took me long enough to find those stupid white socks with red stripes! I did remember my erotic friend fiction, however 😉

We walked away a little disappointed at the lack of “Halloween party” happenings [I think the time span was a bit long for a real party-ish atmosphere], but happy with our purchases. It would have been nice if they did more than one raffle instead of just one at 5pm [the event was from 11am to 6pm], but that’s just because I live tres far away and 5pm was not a convenient time for me to continue eschewing my homework in exchange for glitter-coated fun.

When I got home, I had to finish my assignment [I based it off of the communication style in Where’d You Go Bernadette? and made it into an email exchange… I hope the professor likes it!]. Once finished, I took my nail bag into the TV room, turned on Moone Boy, and got to work!

Meowy fancy!!
Meowy fancy!!

Obviously I had to go with the caticure, because this is a cat blog! Shhhhhh… we’re all actually cats blogging for our humans! I can’t wait to do the blue scales though. The cat and book pages were both discontinued and cost $5 each, while the other three are newer stock and cost $10 each. I don’t really like most of the cat faces [especially the one on my index finger], and after putting them on I figured maybe that was why they were discontinued. They’re cute but the faces don’t all fit on my nails. My thumb cat is the cutest and looks like my brother’s tabby.

I should borrow some of Sub Bella’s dry cuticle creams.

Finally, the whole reason I was writing about Espionage Costmetics is because they’re releasing a SUBSCRIPTION BOX in January!! Sign up starts in December. That’s right, nerds. Glittery eyeshadow towers and glittery space nails delivered to your door EVERY MONTH! I am way excited. Last night I emailed to ask a little more about price and what they expect to include, so I’ll update if I hear back.

What do you think of geeky girl beauty products? Are you going to be signing up for their subscription box in January? Let us know! Also, Tweet us your pics of your fandom!

PS: Here’s a hint about my costume with a shirt I am sooo tempted to buy!

    Woot love this!!!

Are you sure those free cookies didn’t away you even a little lol? I’ve done things I’m not proud of for a chocolate chip cookie

I mean, it was raisin oatmeal and I can be tempted to do pretty dirty things [like the dishes] for a cookie.

Yay Julie!! You guessed it. A million virtual boy butts and horses for you! I was trying to decide between Daria, Tina, or Cosima from Orphan Black.

Have you watched the third season? I got busy with school and was already watching something so I didn’t have time. I’ll have to wait till it’s on Netflix!

Sub Bella it’s actually a photo editor / collage creator program. Free, and they have an app! I love it. Especially all the fun designs that can be overlaid on a photo. I like the pinecone and wallpaper ones the best.
