Out of the Box Sampler Mini Sampler Review – October 2015

Disclosure: There are no affiliate links in this review. This box was paid for by me

Out of the Box Sampler is a fun box that introduces you to the handmade market. The owner has been in business since 2006 introducing people to the handmade market. The subscription is non-renewing, meaning you can buy the months that interest you. Occasionally a limited run of a three month subscriptions are offered. Those sell out quickly.

Subscription: Out of the Box Sampler Mini Sampler

Cost: Mini Sampler $13.95, Regular Size Sampler $27.00 – Neither subscription renews. It must be purchased monthly or when it interests you.

What to Expect: Mini Sampler – 8-9 samples. Regular Size Sampler 15-18 samples. Samples can include bath, body, tarts, candles, food, jewelry, and more.

Notes: Here are a few tips to help you decide if you want to purchase a sampler. Check the Monthly themes. Then check her Facebook Page at the end of the month and beginning of the next month. She will usually post companies and items in the box. You will not receive everything that is spoiled. I found Facebook is the best place to stay updated. The curator posted that the November Harvest Box will go on sale on November 2nd.  Sometimes they sell out quickly.

I purchased the regular size sampler earlier this month and did not take pictures. I purchased the mini sampler below to share the wonderfulness that is Out of the Box Sampler. I was not aware that there are mini samplers. Here it is!

Here it is!

Somebody opened the left side to see if there is food in it. The regular samplers usually have one or two treats packaged separately from the other items. A certain somebody did not want to listen to his wife that there is no peanut brittle in this box and that it would not be packed with highly scented items.

Yes, a grown man ripped open my pretties in search of peanut brittle.

A word of warning – this is not a box for people sensitive to scents. As soon as I opened the box I could smell the scents of fall in my house.

Love Hounds: I love the card! I am going to write a love note in it and give it to my husband. The shop offers necklaces, magnets, wine charms and more. There is an adorable Christmas pug pendant, a funny cat pendant, and Australian Shepherd Wine Charms. Australian Shepherds are related to English Shepherds. I saw one that look almost like Daisy. The shop is the kind of shop that you spend time looking at because everything is so darn cute. 100% of his profits are donated to the Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California

There’s some cat loving going on too.

Pipe Cleaner Doll: I am amazed by the detail of the doll. I can’t imagine the time it takes to create the dolls. Dawn also sells other items including Steampunk themed necklaces. The artist is involved in the Martian Head Huggers Charity where she creates the dolls to be placed on handmade hats for chemotherapy patients. Here’s a picture.

It’s Subscriptionista as a pipe doll!

Slightly Melted Down the Rabbit Hole Sugar Scrub: I admit it. I made a mistake in my Saturday Empties Post. My teenager will be reading this post in shock. I wrote that I received the scrub in my August Out of the Box Sampler. This scrub will be featured in a Saturday Empty Post soon 🙂 There’s a Vanilla Lavender Body Scrub that is calling my name.

Yay for more scrubs!

Candle Confectionery Cinnamin Cider Donut Scented Wax Tart
Candle Confectionery Cinnamon Cider Donut Scented Wax Tart

Candle Confectionery Cinnamon Cider Donut Scented Wax Tart: I can smell it through the wrapper. It smells yummy. I went to the Candle Confectionery website, and the first thing I noticed was a Chocolate chip cookie dough cupcake candle. The candles and tarts look good enough to eat! There are Malibu Rum Cupcake Bakery Tarts, all kinds of bakery cupcake candles,  and I am seriously eyeing up the Peppermint Pattie Spoonful Bowl Soy Candle for a gift. My husband and I had to eat cupcakes while looking at the website.

Husband, “Can I eat them?”  Me, “No, they are made out of a soy blend.” Husband, “Are you sure? They look edible,”

I’m not sure if this is the right website. I like the pop of color.

The design is pretty.

Bee More Artistic: It’s 11:30 at night, I am on a sugar high from a cupcake and on the hunt for a link that works for Bee More Artistic. She’s on Amazon Homemade. She also posts her creations on Instagram that I can not find either. That doesn’t mean much because I could not find our own Instagram unless Subscriptionista sent me the link. I think she added the Instagram button to the blog just for me. Now I have to listen to my teenager complain about how the cats get more likes than he does on Instagram. I do think Melissa Davidson would approve of my commentary based on her Oct 28 Facebook post on how she runs on chocolate and sarcasm.

I listened to a 10-minute argument between my boys about which Pacman ghost is in the picture. It was entertaining.

Sophia Organic Soaps Handmade Peppermint: I received this soap and a few of the other items in my regular sampler. I am mentioning the soap because I already used up my first soap. Awesome peppermint scent!!! I used the above soap this morning to wake me up. The peppermint is strong. I love it.

Eating cupcakes late at night leads to using peppermint soap early in the morning.

Halloween Themed Mini Wax Melts They smell delicious. I have the bag sitting at my desk, and the whole room smells like pecan pie. There’s a Legend of Zelda Candle that comes in four different scents included pumpkin souffle, a Cucumber Melon Candle, and even a zombie candle.

The tarts do smell good enough to eat!

Slippery Soap Organic Shower Gel
Slippery Soap Brown Sugar and Fig Organic Shower Gel

Slippery Slope Soaps: The shower gel was packaged in a plastic bag. I’ve ordered three regular samplers and one mini sampler and never had an issue of spillage. The shower gel has a light holiday scent to it. The tealight has a great apple scent. A few things that caught my eye in her shop are the Organic Chocolate Massage Bar, Egg Nog Sugar Scrub, and Revitalizing Woods Yoga Mat Cleaner. The offerings are extensive!

I’m going to use the tea light today.

Verdict: I always enjoyed my Out of the Box Samplers. It’s a low risk subscription box because you know the theme and have a good idea from the Facebook page what may be included in your box.  I love the fall scents and am happy with the variety of products.

Is the shower mochi one time use? And how is the scrubbing action on it?
Really like this review and the detail you gave in order to decide when to purchase I will definately purchase a few in the future not sure about the boxes having an awesome value but the sheer quantity of multiple etsy venders makes it worthwhile!

The shower mochi has a dough-like consistency and is easy to break into smaller pieces. I break it in half allowing me to get two uses out of it. It’s a very gentle scrub. I saw your comment yesterday and used the mochi in the shower today. I scrubbed hard and could barely feel it. It’s gentle and wrapped in cocoa butter.
