The Relish Accessory Box Review – October 2015

Disclosure: There are no referral/affiliate links. I purchased the box with my own money using a discount code.

Update: Relish is out of business. I am getting all the details and prefer to do some research before reporting what went on. However, if you have an order that has not been filled I suggest you contact your credit card company!

I am leaving the rest of the review as written since this was true at the time and I don’t like to change the record on this blog.

Harper from Relish had a sale in honor of her birthday on September 13, 2015. I decided it was a great time to try out the accessory box.

Subscription: The Relish Accessory Box

Cost: Small Box $99.00, Large Box $149.00. I paid

What to Expect: A small box contains 4 accessories, a large box contains 6 accessories. Items can range from leather belts, silk scarves, and artisan jewelry to sunglasses, hats and more.  Click here to see a list.

Notes: Use the note section to explain what you relish. It has taken me 3 weeks to a month to receive my packages. Relish offers a Mystery Clothing Box with three pricepoints of $99.00, $149.00, and $199.00.

I ordered my accessory box on September 13, 2015. It shipped on October  8th and arrived on October 10th. My 5th Avenue Style Deluxe Box arrived the day before on October 9th. I realize that comparisons are inevitable between 5th Avenue Style Deluxe Box. I  do want to share that I paid different price points for the two boxes.  I purchased the Small Box at $99.00 from Relish and the Deluxe Box at $149.00 from 5th Avenue Style.

My review is for the Small Relish Accessory Box. The note section is the only place to explain your likes and dislikes. I kept my notes broad because I do not have a metal allergy and was looking for a nicely curated fall box. I used the words that were listed on the accessory page to write what I relish and the items I did not want. Hmm, I did not write I relish scarves! How did I miss that?

“I relish artisan jewelry, sterling silver, leather clutches, small handbags, and bracelets. I do not want earrings, rings, belts, or sunglasses. Surprise me with as long as it is not on my do not want list!”

Little West Bellies
Little West Belles Handbag

Little West Belles: I linked to their Facebook page because I could not find the clutch on their Esty storefront. The handbags are in the 9/14 Facebook post. The handbag measures 10″ long by 7″ high.  The leather corners are on the front side only. I love the print and colors. The design makes me happy.

Zipper
Zipper

It has a zipper that opens and closes with ease.

Liner
Liner

The handbag has a blue liner that feels on the heavier side. It may be linen. The outside material is a heavier texture fabric. Little West Belles is located in Georgia, USA.

I want to go out west and enjoy the warmth and sunshine!

Antler Horn Necklace
Marilyn Schiff Antler Pendent Necklace

Marilyn Schiff Antler Pendant Necklace: Marilyn Schiff is a Pennsylvania, USA jewelry designer whose jewelry retails in over 500 locations including Neiman Marcus. Yep, I included that tidbit just for Pnut.  The antler necklace looks perfect for Subscriptionista’s Gangsta Deer Look. I heard in the rumor mill that this is a popular item on the Relish trading board.  The necklace is silver-plated with an adjustable lobster clasp.

The Neiman Marcus mentioned reminded me of the PopSugar Neiman Marcus box that I am not going to purchase…well, maybe if there is an absolutely amazing spoiler.

Armano Studio HorseShoe Necklace
Amano Studio Union Necklace

Amano Studio Union Necklace:  I married a man who has a math degree although I consider math a necessary evil. The necklace description explains that the designer has finally seen the beauty of math and used the unity symbol to create this piece. Thankfully, they also see it as a horseshoe. It reminded me of the beautiful horseshoe bracelet created by AZ Copper Creations. The necklace is 16 inches with a 4 -nch extender.

My vote is that the pendant is a horseshoe!

Amano Twig Branch Necklace
Amano Studio Twig Branch Necklace

Amano Studio Twig Branch Necklace: I’m in love with this sterling silver necklace. The twig symbolizes new life and growth. I need that in my life!!! Both Amano Studio necklaces are made in California, United States.

Closer Look
Closer Look

It’s more of a delicate piece than a large statement necklace. I love the buds appearing on the twig. Amano Studio has an excellent FAQ that explains care instructions and the type of metals used in their creations.

A star
A star

I love that a star is included on the extender. Each necklace has a little tag identifying the jeweler as shown in the above picture. I looked at the website and found a Pyramid of Giza Locket.

Praying Mantis
Praying Mantis

The Praying Mantis was sunning itself Monday. It’s back to being green because of the rain.

Verdict: I love the Little West Belles handbag and the Amano Studio Twig Necklace. I’m sending the other two necklaces to Subscriptionista. I do wish that a scarf was included, but I did not mention it in my notes. I did feel necklace fatigued when I opened the Relish box the day after opening the 5th Avenue Style Deluxe Box.

It’s difficult to compare the Small Relish Accessory Box at $99.00 against the 5th Avenue Style Deluxe Box at $149.00. I can say that Harper at Relish did a better job at curating the box. The twig necklace is something I would buy and the handbag I would greatly desire. I can’t say that about the items in my 5th Avenue Style Deluxe box.  My 5th Avenue Style Deluxe Box provided a few items that add that finishing touch to an outfit when I need to look more professional and pulled-together.

I hope both reviews are helpful in deciding what mystery accessory boxes to purchase. The items shown in both reviews is reflective of the curator’s interpretation of my taste. A box curated to your taste and expectations may have a different look and feel than the items in the two reviews. Be sure to write detailed notes when ordering!!!

This looked pretty nice and wow zeros I’m excited about my haul 😉 I am going to post an unboxing at least of the relish box I got but I had to send it back because of fit issues. Im nervous for my 5th avenue box. I have a feeling soon you’ll be getting many a scarf. Goodness knows I don’t often wear them.

LOL. Send it back if it has too many scarves 🙂

I like this box a lot too! It’s funny – I know it cost less / has a lower value than the 5th Ave one and it did have 3 necklaces out of 4 items so not sure why I feel more forgiving toward it? Is it because I like the necklaces better? (I like all of them! The antler is so fun and the twig branch is my favorite too!) Is is b/c the necklaces are more everyday / wearable so I feel you can get more use out of them? Or is it b/c at least 1 item wasn’t jewelry?? So it felt like more variety.

It took awhile to get to you though… don’t you hate waiting when you’re excited about a box?!

    • October 14, 2015 at 11:51 am

I dislike the wait. There was a code released for Columbus day (USA holiday) that I did not use because of the wait. I’m starting to get a feel for Relish and how it works.I don’t have the patience for the wait! That and I need to start taking T on college tours.

College tours! How fun! (And scary) What colleges is he looking at? Anything out of state??

        • October 15, 2015 at 3:42 pm

It is fun and scary! He’s looking at mostly small Christian colleges because he will be going to seminary afterwards if he continues down the path of becoming a pastor. Most are out of state.

I have fallen madly in love with Relish, and especially the Relish Trade Board. I’ve had more scores off of that thing. Thank you, kind ma’am, for introducing me to them!

    • October 14, 2015 at 11:53 am

You’re welcome. I have yet to visit the Relish Trading Board. I hear it’s a fun place to visit and score great items. I think Harper and her team does a great job with the curation. It’s the wait that bothers me.

      • October 14, 2015 at 11:56 am

It’s actually just Harper! She’s a one woman show. And the board, for real. I’ve been getting pieces for $15 for great stuff!

        • October 14, 2015 at 12:08 pm

Wow! I lose track with the curators sometimes. I thought she hired help. Maybe I am confusing her with Kloverbox. Kloverbox hired help a couple of months ago.

I’m so annoyed! I had a half-written Goodebox post that I saved before taking my older son to his belt testing for Tae Kwon Do. It’s not in drafts. It’s not in trash. It’s gone!!!!!

    • October 14, 2015 at 6:35 pm

Whaaaa!!! This worries me! You are going to see my draft saves rapidly increasing tonight. I got my Beauty DNA today!

      • October 14, 2015 at 6:42 pm

I must not have hit the save draft before logging off completely. I’m so annoyed with myself. I thought I would come back and post the review in a half hour 🙁

Yay on Beauty DNA. I can’t wait to see it. My Birchbox came today.
