Escape Monthly Subscription Box Review + Coupon- September 2015

Disclosure: There are no affiliate/referral links in this post. I purchased the Greece box at a significant discount because of an Escape Monthly special.

Escape Monthly was one of my very first subscription boxes back in May 2014. I purchased that box using a voucher. The September 2014 box was my last box because I became unhappy with my subscription. I saw reviews for Escape Monthly again. I received an email on October 20th for 50% off the Greece box and 20% off the Californian Box. I decided to resubscribe.

Subscription: Escape Monthly

Cost: $49.99/monthly for the regular-sized Escape Monthly. There are 20% coupons floating around. I will have the latest special listed in the coupon section. $24.95/monthly for the Escape Mini, $69.95/monthly for Escape Luxe. I do not think that the 20% off coupons work on the mini or luxe options.

What to Expect: Escape Monthly -A destination themed box filled with luxury products and a travel guide. Escape Mini – 4-5 luxury products and a travel brochure. Escape Luxe – high value luxury products

Coupon: Escape Monthly is offering a special where you receive the Greece box for free and 20% off the November Arizona box. Click here to take advantage of the savings.

Greece!
Greece!

I see Greek food! My family did too and waited until finished taking pictures to try out the food. I took pictures of the September and October boxes back to back.

All I kept saying is, “Stop blocking the light!” and “Don’t eat the food!”  They love to tease me about the food!

Ivi Peach
Ivi Peach

Ivi Peach Juice Drink: The peach drink is produced in Greece for Pepsico. It is one liter and needs to be refrigerated upon opening. It has no preservatives and needs to be consumed before 01/01/16.  Escape Monthly recommends that it can be used in a sparkling white wine to give it a Mediterranean feel.

Life’s a peach!

Olive Oil
Olive Oil

Iliada Extra Virgin Olive Oil Basil Flavour: I can’t wait to try it out! I did not want to open the tin yet because I have a couple other olive oils that i want to finish. Escape Monthly recommended the basil olive oil for eggs, pasta, dip, popcorn and more. Subscribers could receive vanilla, chocolate, truffle, chili or basil. Banana bread lovers -chocolate flavored olive oil can be drizzled all over it.

The olive oil is from the home of the ancient Spartans.

Mastic Care Body Lotion
Mastic Care Body Lotion

Mastic Care Body Lotion for Dry Skin: The lightly scented body lotion is paraben-free. The mastic oil is made from the Mastic Tree, that is found on the island of Chios.

Perfect for the dry weather.

Rick Stevens
Rick Stevens

Rick Stevens Pocket Athens: The regular size Escape Monthly comes with a guidebook. I like the Rick Steve series. It’s colorful and easy to read.

I read the guide books. Maybe one day I will travel outside the USA.

Misko Risoni Large
Misko Risoni Large

Misko Risoni Large: Most of us recognize the pasta as Orzo. Escape Monthly induced a recipe for Greek Orzo Salad. I will be using the Orzo to make Italian Wedding Soup. Yummy!

I’m ready for soup now!

gum
Elma Mastic Chewing Gum

Elma Mastic Chewing Gum: Mastic again! The price is high because the link is for the case. T tried it and hated it. He said it tasted like grass and seeds.

I can’t believe he did not like it!

Serenata
Serenata

Serenata Milk Chocolate Wafer by Bingo: I am glad that there were 2 Serenata Milk Chocolate Wafers included. The family enjoyed them.

Immediate Gratification!

Olivia Natural Bar Soap

Olivia Natural Bar Soap

Olivia Natural Bar Soap with Extra Olive Oil: The moisturizing soap has a light scent. It says it can be used on skin and hair. My 7 year old loves shampoo bars.

The goats need to start sending out more goat-based products.

Whiskers
Whiskers

Whiskers is visiting from the farm. She was found with her brother lost and wet in our hay barn and crying. We waited for her mommy to come and claim them before finally bringing them in to warm up. My sister bottle-fed them. Whiskers is the mother of Zelda and grandmother of Puss-in-Boots.  She loves to mother all the cats.

Verdict: My family enjoyed the September 2015 Escape Monthly box. The items are useful and the food tastes delicious. The Evil Eye Bobble is missing. Escape Monthly stated they will send a replacement.

Yay Greece! I’m partial to Greek stuff, probably because I dated a Greek man when I lived in London and he was lovely. 😉

As a Greek goddess, I can confirm that for at least the food stuff, those are typical items and brands that you would find in a Greek household or supermarket (although the Ivi was written in phonetic English – I was confused because the font and logo matched what I know, but I always see it written in Greek). I don’t recognize the olive oil brand, but there are probably hundreds in Greece. I would have preferred more hard to find traditional Greek foods (especially sweets) so subscribers can try new things, but I’m not curating this box. I am glad you got this at a discount as you can get all of this for a lot less than $50 at a supermarket.

I have never heard of using that juice in sparkling wine. I wonder if they were thinking of Greek sangria, but that’s not made with sparkling wine.

Mastiha (phonetic English spelling) means gum in Greek and yes, they do get it from the Mastic tree. So the gum just says it is gum.

Artemis – Great stuff. I’m glad that we have a Greek goddess to help us out! I checked the brochure. It says,”Or pump up the Mediterranean volume by adding your Ivi peach juice to a sparking white wine like prosecco.” I don’t know if prosecco is a brand because it is not capitalized in the brochure. Does it make sense to you?

Ahh, they are just suggesting making a mixed drink – that’s not a “traditional” Greek use for this juice in any flavor, though of course you can use this juice as a mix just like any other juice. Prosecco is an Italian wine and we have some fabulous wines of our own – I wish they would have suggested a Greek white in their info card! We have reds, whites and even sparkling wines too!!
