Herbal Bliss Subscription Box Review – October 2015

Disclosure: There are no affiliate/referral links in this post. This box was paid for by me.

I love gardening, herbs, and the great outdoors. I read about Herbal Bliss and knew it was a box that I had to try. This box will be my seventh month with them. I noticed that I tend to use all the items in the box.

Subscription: Herbal Bliss

Cost: $25.00/month, $66.00/3 months, $120.00/6 months, $216.00/12 months

What to Expect: Five unique herbal samples

It’s my fault that this review is up late. I received my Herbal Bliss Box in the middle of October.

Oh No!
Oh No!

I could tell something broke in my box. It was mostly dried by the time I received the box from my mail carrier

Oh no! My box looked like it went through a lot on its journey to me.

Broken bottle
Broken bottle

I was sad to see a broken bottle. Everything else was well packaged. I was able to remove the other items easily without risk. I emailed the curator who sent out a replacement and an extra item right away. I received both items in a couple of days. One other person had the same problem and received an extra item too. The curator treats everyone equally 🙂

We hate it when bloggers are treated better. Yay for Herbal Bliss for treating everyone equally.

The items. Which one is the bonus?

In retrospect, I should had placed the box in the back.  It did look great to my eye when I took the picture.

I’m always amazed by how things look differently to the camera.

J and Zelda
J and Zelda

It was a windy day. I was working with light items such as tiny flowers and Foxtails that blow away in the wind. J was in charge of holding the Foxtails for me.

Zelda loves to play with Foxtails.

Satori Vocal Rescue
Satori Vocal Rescue

Starwest Botanicals Satori Vocal Rescue: It’s great to receive items that are useful to my family. The spray helps with dry throats, coughs, and also pampering your vocal cords. It has a minty alcohol scent. I like their herb quality control policy. It is made in the USA.

We will be using this during the winter time.

Jacq Orgnaics Le Doliel Candle
Jacq Organics Le Soliel Candle

Jacq’s Organics Le Soleil Candle: I had to include yellow flowers for the sun candle. The hand pour soy candle has a cotton wick. The scent is cheery with ginger, neroli, and jasmine,

It has no artificial fragrances, parabens, chlorine, or dea. The company was created by a woman in response to discovering she had an ovarian tumor during her pregnancy. Her research led her to create Jacq’s Organics. Jacq’s Organic products are made in Florida, USA.

A wonderful display of sunshine on those dark, gloomy days of late autumn and early winter.

Con'Olio Milanese Gremolata Olive Oil
Con’Olio Milanese Gremolata Olive Oil

Con”Olio Oils & Vinegars Milanese Gremolata Olive Oil: Yummy! My family loves olive oils. The olive oil has lemon zest, minced garlic, Italian flat leaf parsley, and a touch of mint. It’s a wonderful choice for a subscription box because it compliments almost everything. It has a wonderful lemony scent. I first could taste the basil and garlic followed quickly by the lemon. The mint came in at the end.

The owners earned their certification as experts olive oil sensory evaluators.  It’s interesting that their shops have little cups to sip the vinegars. That is how I prefer to taste-test, so no other flavors or textures interfere with the taste. Maybe one day a black cherry balsamic vinegar will show up in a subscription box! The company is located in Texas, USA.

Who wants to go drinking with me at an olive oil tasting bar?

The Herb Bar Nail and Cuticile Oil nestled in Blueberry leaves.
The Herb Bar Nail and Cuticle Oil nestled in Blueberry leaves.

The Herb Bar Nail and Cuticle Oil: Another item perfect for fall and winter This is the item that broke in my box, It arrived safely the second time. It has a delightful scent and is a simple formula. The Ylang-Ylang maintains the moisture balance of the nails. The Cypress is an astringent. The Spikenard is an anti-fugal. I did not open it to sniff it because I am finishing up a different cuticle oil. It’s made in Texas, USA.

I’ll have pretty nails all winter.

Dirtyfae Soap Company Peppermint-Lemongrass with jojoba Beads
Dirtyface Soap Company Peppermint-Lemongrass with jojoba Beads

Dirty Face Soap Company Peppermint-Lemongrass with Jojoba Beads: I did not see this glycerin soap on the website although there are other soap domes available for purchase. Lemongrass is the first scent that I could smell as I unwrapped the wrapper. I could smell a blend of Peppermint and Lemongrass after the soap breathed for a few minutes outside its wrapper. The jojoba beads provide exfoliation action and are a natural alternative to using plastic micro-beads. The artisans enjoy making their soap which shows in their designs. I have to hide it from J.  Otherwise; it will become a victim of an epic bathtime adventure. The soap is made in Oregon, USA.

I immediately thought of Subscriptionista when I read the company’s name. Subscriptionista does not like to wash her face.

Here’s the bonus item that arrived with the replacement item:

Truly Aesthetic Petit Bath Affirmations
Truly Aesthetic: Petit Bath Affirmations

Truly Aesthetic Petit Bath Affirmations:  The link is for a set of 10. Don’t faint over the price! Wait until you see what is inside the box! Truly Aesthetic is an eco-luxe concept. You can read about the company on the about page.

I’ve never seen anything like this before.  I read the information card and still wasn’t sure what to think.

Bath Salts
Bath Salts

First is the bath salt test tube. I received the Enliven Coconut Basil. I have not used it yet so can’t comment on the scent. The tube feels like a hard plastic with a cork seal. The presentation is absolutely gorgeous.

The tea bag is enclosed for those that want to steep their bath salts and not have the basil and coconut float around them.

The directions suggest either pouring the bath salts into the stream of water or steep the salts. Directions for steeping is included. Next clear your mind and read your affirmation. There’s also a tip to rub the coconut flakes on your body to soften and exfoliate it. It is made in North Carolina, USA.

This will be a  bath experience like no other.

Verdict: I always enjoy my Herbal Bliss boxes.  Herbal Bliss does a great job of selecting companies and curating the box. I will be using everything in the box. The owner is wonderful and responsive. I’m pleased with how quickly my replacement item came, and the bonus item is amazing! Herbal Bliss is a hidden treasure that the subscription box world needs to know.

Subscription Box Flashback:

Items revealed.
July 2015 Box

I used the laundry soap on my towels. It did the job. I gave my sister the tea because the ginger calms her stomach. I used the bubble biscuit in the bath tub. It felt soothing I used the lip balm throughout the summer. I’ve been using the sleep salve every night. Most nights it works. I saved the seeds for next year because it was too late in the season to plant them.

Beautiful gorgeous pictures! I swear if we had Golden Globes (I picked the award with the ball of course) or something for sub box bloggers you would get best photographs along with our sidekick Heat!
The box and review looks fab as well….

I’ve been playing around with a similar idea in my head. A Golden Globes for sub boxes. I haven’t thought out all the details yet. It might be a fun thing to do after the holidays.

I agree with Pnut! I kept thinking that you were really doing an amazing job with pictures, and these are just great! I love the Starwest Botanicals one in particular. Also, the bath salts look soooo wonderful! I am so impressed that they gave that along with your replacement item! Now I want a big tub AND this box.

Wonderful review with (shall I be repetitive and say it?) gorgeous pictures!

Herbal bliss just seems to keep getting better and they were great when you got your first box! I love the variety – a beauty product, a pampering item, unique practical items…. (olive oil, vocal spray, laundry soap) Why haven’t I subbed?? Have all the previous boxes sold out or do they have a stash somewhere? Think they’ll have a Black Friday or holiday deal? 😉

Heat, I have all the same questions!

Sub Bella, I would totally go to an olive oil tasting bar with you! I have about 7 bottles of olive oil sitting on my counter right now.

The bath salts presentation is exquisite, though it got me thinking: how many people take baths regularly (or at all)? We have a jacuzzi tub in the master bath and I only remember using it once (and that was before kids!).

I’m in for the olive oil tasting too! Yum!

I’m not a bath person… I maybe take 1 very few hours if I have sore muscles or something. And I’m always surprised when I find out someone takes baths regularly, but I think there are a lot of them out there!

Oohh right! I have been to olive oil and vinegar shops and tasted the products. They had little soup crackers to cleanse your palette. The vinegar was the best. I could just sip that all afternoon… pear vinegar is my favorite!

For the longest time I only took espom salt baths at the farm. Shana persuaded me to take baths for relaxation. It also helps my osteoarthritis I did email Herbal Bliss to see if they plan to have a BF or Holiday sale. I hope she does!.
