Globe In Subscription Review – November 2015

Disclosure: I bought this box with my own money, post contains affiliate links

GlobeIn is a subscription that seeks to bring the world to you every month in the form of carefully curated artisanal goods from throughout the world. They take the time to make sure items are fairly traded and therefore support artists and their work. This theme is really important to me as a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer I saw first hand while serving how much it can mean to an artist, family, and whole community to be fairly paid for their hard work. It can mean a drastically better life!

GlobeIn has two boxes:

Artisan Box: $35 a month, $33 per month with a 3 month subscription, and $30 a month with a 6 month subscription. Use coupon codes WELCOME to save 25% off of your first box with a 3 month subscription!!!

Benefit Basket: A smaller version of the Artisan Box that has one item nestled a basket: $19.99 a month or $56.95 every 3 months. Use coupon code TRYBENEFIT to save $7 off of a 3 month subscription!!!

Theme of this month: Bedroom

Tej Bhadur Prajapati – Bud Vase: Tej was in charge of the Nepalese non-profit Association for Craft Producers (ACP) and then decided to start his own business. He makes stoneware items that are unique and made from his own techniques. From the looks of it it he beats out my misshapen creations I put out when I was a kid. That is for darn sure!

I am happy with my piece and it actually matches some of my items that I have already. I dig that and can see this being a really cute little addition to a bedroom.

This vase makes it easy to gift flowers because you only need one! (Guys take note!)

Don Migue – Handwoven Bowl: For like two mins I tried to put this as a top to the basket that is always included with the items. I am not sure why it took me so long given that this little basket it a different color and is much thicker but there you have it.

Great for holding things like chapsticks are your collection of spooky fortune cookie predictions!

Y’abal Handicrafts – Seahorse Pillow Pet: I have seen these before on this very website by checking out Sub Bella’s reviews. Her son really seems to like his pillow pet which is super sweet. I thought of this more as a kid item but can see it being cute on my bed out couch. Though I have made up a sort of weird personality for him and wouldn’t trust him alone in my bedroom. He likes to party way too hard…

My cat keeps telling me she the only pillow pet I need…

Sundos & Silk – Massage Oil Candle (Lavender): The shea butter sourced for this candle comes from a group called Global Mama’s in Ghana. The group ethically harvests and produces the material while providing women in the area to earn an income. The candles themselves are made in the USA.

This can be burned in your room and then when you blow it out you can pretend you in 50 Shades of Grey, or like not. I mean that is all up to you. No matter what you decide you can use the melted shea butter to give a massage.

I hope that you get a massage as well, and not one of those one hand dumb massages guys tend to give!

Palm Leaf Basket: This month was a bigger basket without a top. I am going to use mine to hold all the beauty products I use right before bed!

Verdict: This month was pretty good. I was hoping for something more Bedroom specific but when I tried to think of what that could be I came up blank. Each item was quality and thoughtfully sourced. This fact make me a lot happier to use them around my house. With all these nice bedroom things, I am going to really have to make my bed!

I am lucky if I remember to moisturize my hands and cuticles with my massage/lotion candles!

    Your seahorse is funky cool!

Bud vase overload the goat’s haven’t gotten the memo yet.

I like your neutral basket and usage for small cute things before bedtime. Haha I would have done the same thing with that bowl!

I’m taking Globe In’s advice! Maybe tomorrow will be a better day. I laughed about the bowl 🙂

I hope you all find your special purpose! [anyone??]

This looked like a neat shipment–the seahorse looks like his name is Zazzy or ZaZzY probably. I also like the color of the bud vase! Dottiebox sent me some candle rub [I think Sub Bella got one] and when I told my boyfriend he was so disgusted and demanded to know if I’d had candle wax dripped on me. Haha, I told him I don’t really think that was their intention. But if you’re into 50 shading it, that’s cool too [are there melty candles in there?].

Another nice box but November was my last GlobeIn for a while. My lidless square basket was a “shorty” and I saw comments from GlobeIn on another blog that those were sent in error. As they suggested, I sent an email to their support team with a picture and they are going to send me a new, full-size basket. Just wanted to share in case this happened to anyone else! (By “shorty”, I mean only about an inch or so taller than that bowl… and about 2 inches shorter than a regular basket.)

Thanks for letting us know about the short baskets, mine is the same size as the bowl, I thought that was strange.

The shorty basket would piss me off. After December I am taking a break. It is tough as a blog to afford it,
