Pumeli Subscription Box Review – November 2015

Pumeli is a subscription that asks you to give yourself permission to relax. I personally have a tough time relaxing unless I have gobbled a good part of a box of wine, so this type of box is really needed in my life.

I saw the first onslaught of blogger reviews for last months box, and while smarting at the thought that we were not on the short list as reviewers (one day we will hit the big time lol) I still couldn’t help myself from giving it a try!

Here’s the website http://pumeli.com/. The price is $49.95. (Lol thanks Sub Bella for noticing my umm cliffhanger)

Sweet I am ready to relax!

This month? Be Like A Tree

Pumeli

Aduna Baobab – Superfruit Powder: In the info pack they say that this is to be used as a face mask with the orange! I am sure that it could used for this and I did read some reviews of folks who have. I think it truly shines when you mix this with yogurt or oatmeal. The power has a ton of fiber and when I mix it into yogurt I find that I stay full for a really long time. I also don’t really think you will absorb much of the nutrients in a mask, unless you are super porous…

I have been enjoying telling people about Baobab powder because I think it makes me seem both smart and well traveled…

Mud Cloth Notebook: Isn’t this pretty? It feels amazing in your paw. Very heavy and textured. I prefer notebooks with lines in them because I have the handwriting of a small lazy child. It is pretty cool that this notebook was hand woven in Mali out of mud and tea. I am thinking the only think I could make out of mud and tea is a huge mess.

They say I should write my own “proverbs” or “bits of wisdom” in it, how bad is it that I can’t think of a single thing? Pretty bad.

(I need to find where I put this pic!)

Tea Accessories: This spoon is supposed to be used for scooping tea and can be used to put tea into the provided tea bags. I never thought to have a special tea scooping spoon! Now I am plagued with worries that I am as uncouth as some say, and only one box away from living in a hovel.

I bet I could use this spoon to scoop Baobab powder as well!

Jacaranda Wood Ornament: I have always loved giraffes! This is so cute and I wish I had more space to show it off. I will try to find the perfect spot. It is so light and in person the paint is really cool. I feel like mine has personality. Like a gentle kind Giraffe who makes sort of mean observations from time to time without meaning it…

“Subscriptionista you are getting a little thicker around the middle, it’s so pretty and shows how many reviews are you getting done!” said the Gentle Giraffe.

Just Tea African Chai: This is a huge bag  of some good Chai tea! When it is cold out and I want a dessert I make chai tea with milk and sugar. It should be a lot healthier for me then what I would normally eat and it usually does the trick for a craving. I am pretty excited there is so much of it!

If you add a shot of espresso to your Chai Latte it is called a “Dirty Chai”… Fancy!

Verdict: I really like this box for it’s mission and commitment to putting together a package that really does have the tools to get the relaxation. I hope to review this again one day but it is a bit too spendy right now for me to do it monthly. I can see this box continuing to get more fans just because of it’s thoughtful curation.

The box looks great. The intro read like a cliffhanger. What was it that you couldn’t do? You are keeping us in suspense. Hmm. They gave you permission to relax. I know! Eat whoopie pies! I love the giraffe. The notebook is unique. It’s amazing how different regions make paper.

Hmmmm… I think the text on permission to relax should be bigger and bolder. Possibly in ALLCAPS yelling to remind me.

Chai is my favorite! How much is this box? Oh, hi Google… oh wow! That is spendy!

hahah right? The stuff in it is really nice. But for a blogger on a budget (seriously how much $ do we fritter away???) https://widgets.wp.com/notifications/2182869875#it is a tough one to review once a month

My bf asked me how much money I spend per month on boxes and I told him to just walk away slowly. But, he’s not judging me–it’s my money, and plus he spends way more money on tools and mini war figures [I cannot even fathom how many thousands and thousands he’s spent on his whole collection].

What is this weird link you sent?

I send you a parcel. A small one. Saturday look in the mail…

Hah, I lilked Sub Bella’s comment that it was a cliffhanger. It’s a choose-your-own adventure box! Omg actually that sounds like an awesome idea! I mean, there are already boxes sort of like that where you get to pick a theme or profile, but hmmm…

        • December 7, 2015 at 6:29 pm

Thank god for Sub Bella because I thought that review was totally finished. I fixed it lol

I personally would love a choose your own adventure book for adults. I would be so excited!

I took a look at the Pumeli site. They have two Holiday Gift Sets for $19.95 (an African Chai Tea set and a Tea Towel set).

This blog is the first (and sometimes only) one I check everyday! In fact, used to follow a bunch of other blogs, but you guys review more boxes that interest me and the commentary is priceless. So you’re on my short list if it counts for anything! 😀

I should add that LC and LaurenC are both me. I can’t seem to remember which name to use when I comment…oops :/

      Thanks 😀

I thought about your comment for awhile today, and am truly thankful you made it and that you read the blog. It is tough to believe that when we publish a post that others actually click and read. Plus… Comments are my everythang! 😉

The chai tea is pretty darn good. I doll up my chai though… milk, sugar… It is wild!
