Birchbox Order Unboxing – January 2016

Irrelevant sidenote: For some reason, WordPress has decided it hates me, and the app forces me to log in EVERY time I try to do something, which is a bunch of poppycock because not only does it make me do a stupid math problem every time, it also keeps telling me prove I’m human and login again. Clearly, WordPress is unconvinced of my humanness, but,  I promise you I’m a lady…

Subscription Purchase Site: Birchbox

That aside, after getting my Birchbox sub stated up again, I decided to also place an order in December for some Benefit They’re Real! Mascara. It came with an amazing face wash sample, and I loved it so much I had to get the full size! Though, TBH as a sample sub box person I really don’t need full sizes of things because I’ve got so many other tiny similar products.

Inspector Bella to the rescue!! She had her death glare going on, so I stayed in the bed and didn’t try to take my box away from her. I bet she wanted to lick the plastic anyway.

I just want to keep the polka dot box interior! It’s so purdy.

Bombas Socks Mens orange and grey tall

Bombas Men Color Tall Socks in Grey/Orange: $11.00. “Bid adieu to a drab sock drawer and meet Bombas: game-changing socks made from long-staple Peruvian Pima cotton. An invisible toe seam, Stay-Up Technology, and honeycomb arch support mean they fit just right. But what they stand for is even better: For every pair you purchase, Bombas donates a pair to someone in need.”

Um are you surprised to see socks? Haha! I got this a week before my Shoptiques order came, but they sat on my bedroom floor waiting for me to photograph them, and I finally wore them Friday. They’re SO squishy!

Before/After

They seem to have held up okay my first wearing, but I wore them again last night after I showered, then wore them for 6 hours and they did quite well. Birchbox does recommend washing them before wearing to get the full “stay up technology” effect, so I’ll see if that helps!

The website looks like “bomb ass socks.” I have poor reading comprehension but I also just combine random words on accident, so I see weird phrases and words often.

ursa major face wash

Ursa Major Fantastic Face Wash: $28.00. “Named after the constellation often used by travelers to find true North, Ursa Major is here to help you find your skincare stride. This refreshing face wash is a welcome first step—its foaming gel formula lifts oil and dirt, clears away dead skin cells, and unclogs pores—all without drying out your skin.”

This was the item that came as a sample from my order last month. I wouldn’t normally spend $28 on a face wash, but I didn’t thanks to my rewards points and a coupon. In fact, my whole order cost less than this face wash!

Mystery sample pack: $10.00, or free with purchases over $35.

100% Pure Organic Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream: $25.00 for 1oz full size. “Turbo-charged with caffeine from coffee and green tea, this cream provides an instant pick-me-up to sleepy eyes. It works by reducing the appearance of that telltale trifecta: fine lines, dark circles, and puffiness. Even better, it’s formulated exclusively with natural and organic ingredients.”

I just got some of this in a swap but haven’t tried it. I’m suspicious I’ll be wide eyed and crazed, walking around Target demanding people tell me where the chipped beef is.

Because I’d seriously have to be going mad before I ate chipped beef again. My childhood least favorite meal was toast, white gravy, asparagus, and chipped beef, or “shit-on-a-shingle” according to my boyfriend.

TOCCA Esfoliante da Corpo – Nourishing Body Scrub in Giulietta: $32.00 for 6.08oz.  “This sugar-based formula is just what the doctor ordered for a smooth, glowing finish. Stocked with crushed olive granules, it gently exfoliates dry skin for a supple effect.”

You saw it here first, folks! “Supple” skin awaits. YUM! I’ve gotten Tocca lotion, so I’m excited to try this pink tulip and green apple scrub when I run out of one of the four scrubs I currently have open. My skin will be supple as heck to be sure!

Sugar… apple… IT’S A NOM!!!

Verdict: I love it all!! I am so happy with this order, and I’m pretty certain I’ll be using future shop points on socks. My total was $49, minus $10 for the bonus pack, a $10 off coupon, and $10 in points, so with tax I paid $21.76.

Great haul! I love that feeling when you try something, love it, then go out immediately to buy a full size.

I never had chipped beef. I googled it. Can you make it or do you have to buy it already made? I like corned beef in the can and not real corned beef. My filipino side would stir-fry it with chopped tomatoes, fried egg, fried potatoes, and cabbage and it it over rice. Nom.

Finnishing my thought becuase if you can make it yourself, it sounds like something I might like kimda jerkyish and totally contraryish to my feelings of corned beef.

Bombas are the best! They now have black and grey wool socks on their website, as well as a bunch of new colors in collaboration with the Gap. I’m addicted!

Best women’s mystery sample pack I’ve ever seen! I really want to try those socks.

(Sorry to hear that WordPress hates you – sounds very annoying!)
