ModCloth is a website that has all sorts of interesting clothing available for purchase from different brands as well as their own in house brand. From time to time ModCloth runs a “Stylish Surprise” where you basically buy items at a discounted price and are surprised as to what they will actually be. From shoes, accessories, to apartment items and apparel, many rush to stock up on what they think will be a good deal. I bought into the hype so you don’t have to!
My order took a long time to get to me, and I am still waiting for some other items. It was actually a shipping mistake and nothing to do with ModCloth. They can ship a little slow, but I am the impatient type!
Cost: $20 a dress and $15 for an apparel item

Bea & Dot – Universal Stunner Dress: I love this dress but it fits so tight around my bust area that I actually had to ask for help to get the dress off! I am so sad about it. I keep trying to think of ways I can make this work… they all end up just being silly. They are still selling this dress on the website for $51.99. So if I had been able to squeeze my top into this I would have really felt like this was the best deal ever!
If any of you find a genie lamp let me know!
Dear Creatures – Stripped Cardigan: I was really happy to see this in my box because it will be perfect for work! I can just see myself walking around looking pulled together and somewhat stuck up in my cardigan. I will ask people about their weekends and ask if they play tennis…
I will also refer to my cardigan as a “cardi.”
Urban Day – Big Bird Sweater: Obviously I made up the same of this sweater. Don’t let it make you think I am not going to wear this because I totally am. I like looking like Big Bird. He was so friendly and well liked! When I first pulled this out, I was sorta perplexed as to what the hell was going on. When I out it on it was much cuter, and at some point I will try to take a picture of myself in it. I just haven’t put on make up yet and am feeling cozy right now…
Now to get my hair style to look like feathers…
Melody – Ballerina Skirt: I made up the name of this skirt as well, but I feel sort of like I am doing ballet in this skirt. It feels so fun on that I need to figure out a place to wear it. I can sort of see myself prancing down the street in this while people sort of stare and wonder how much fun I had at Happy Hour.
A lot. A lot of fun was had at Happy Hour.
Verdict: ModCloth Stylish Surprise is always a betting ladies game. There are great deals to be had, but at the same time I have been send things that don’t fit or are flat out not my style. Every time one of these sales come along I can’t help myself. I think the trick is to just accept that you might not get things you can use and go from there. It might be a deal, or could be a waste of cash. This time was great!

Yes, I was also thinking that you can get the dress altered. A tailor may be able to let it out a bit or you can have it turned into a skirt.

Ahhhhh I love the constellation dress! I love space things. My last stylish surprise came with a sheer high waisted maxi skirt and a see through black midriff tanktop. I threw it all back in the box bc I’m not 17. Ew. Not that I would’ve worn either of those items in high school. I wish you could build a mini style profile like hey how about no wedding dresses? (Sub Bella, hehe, perhaps you can turn them into pillows or donate them to a prom / wedding dress site).
