Play! By Sephora Subscription Review – January 2016

Disclaimer: There are no affiliate/referral links in this post. The box was paid for by Heat7918

Play! By Sephora is a make up subscription that has taught me the meaning of FOMO or Fear Of Missing Out mixed with a healthy dose of box envy. The wait list and long and there seems for me, that I will never get off of it! I imagine that the time I am able to sign up that we will have futuristic make up that we apply just by spraying on our faces. Seriously, who so I have to grease to get my box?!?

Thankfully it helps to have Heat7918, for her heart is kind and she has taken pity upon me to share her box with us all! Yay!

Cost: $10 a month

Below you will find her unboxing photos and comments! Thanks again Heat, it really means a lot to the blog!!! (Also I enjoy living thru you!)

Once again, I shall walk you through the fabulous Sephora playbook that comes with my $10 subscription box. Please don't hate me for somehow being lucky enough to get this box… but I heard that some others are starting to get off the wait list?!?! Living Proof Prime Style Extender Spray - I've used this once (paired with Living Proof Perfect Hair Day 5-in-1 Styling Treatment - also using for the first time) and I'm on day 3 of silky smooth hair! I don't know how much is the spray vs. the Perfect Hair Day cream… but I'm thrilled! dr. brandt needles no more wrinkle relaxing cream - I've gotten this sample before in a different sub box but didn't finish it. I only used it twice and then stopped b/c I didn't really notice "instant smoothing of expression lines" but after getting this from Sephora, I've decided to give it a second chance and at least finish up my open sample. Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight - I don't use highlighter often but I've been trying it more and I love the color of this one on my fair pink-toned skin! I also love the diagram in the booklet showing how to use it since yes, there are still many people out there who have no idea. :) Sephora Eye Mask - As you can see in the picture, I received Lotus which "locks in water to to reduce the signs of fatigue and strain for fresh, stress-free, and rested eyes". I haven't tried it yet but I love sheet masks and I love eye masks… so I'm sure I'll like it! Dr. Dennis Gross alpha beta peel - I love the alpha beta glow pads / face self-tanner from Dr. Dennis Gross so I'm excited to try these too! TOCCA Isabel Eau de Parfum - I'm not usually thrilled to get perfumes samples (especially with the little caps that almost always end up spilling all over when I open it… give the little spray bottles please!!) but since it's the 6th sample in my Sephora box, I didn't mind. And then I smelled it… I LOVE it! I can't remember the last time I loved a perfume - I'm so picky! I loved it when I first put it an on and I'm loving it an hour later. It's definitely a floral / rose type scent so I'm sure others will hate it, but I'm so happy with it! My favorite page in this month's booklet is the "Skincare Goes Full Circle" that explains the order in which to use skincare products - genius! It doesn't include everything (for example, what about face oils? but those actually depend on the type of oil so maybe too hard to explain on the wheel). But I was definitely doing a couple of things out of order - oops! The wheel may not be the end-all-be-all, definitive order in which products must be applied but still very helpful! "The 6 Tips for Wonderful Winter Skin" is also a nice touch and of course my Play! Pass for a complimentary one-on-one session in store. I admit I haven't taken advantage of these at all yet… but maybe one day. Overall, I love my Play! box again this month and hope all of you get off the wait list ASAP!

I love my Clinique highlighting chubby stick, and just ran out so I had to get a new one. I forgot how spendy it was! $20 for my lovely crayon. But I use it only under my eyebrows to highlight and on my eyelids as a primer for eyeshadow. Also, Tocca has some of the best scents! I think I’ve gotten one perfume and it smelled quite nice.

I thought the highlighter stick might be full-size at first but it’s not… so the full-size must be huge! How did you use a whole one? And how do you “sharpen” it??

At first I thought highlighter was a joke because it looks so similar to glitter when you test it out and as a girl who wore a lot of glitter in the 90’s I just wasn’t down but it is amazing how it freshens you up.
p.s we love living through you!

In the 80’s I wrote TONS of glitter. My big sister is like 20 years older than me and she would give me make up and glitter lotion. I was the coolest… alright I wasn’t…. but I was the first to bring Zima to a party! wooot!

Also I feel like without Heat’s reviews I would feel SUPER bitter about not getting the box. Now I feel like I almost get it. I mean yeah, I know I don’t, but… I have less bitter about it

I wore some glitter in the 90’s too! Highlighting is much more natural looking…

Subista, you were definitely cool – Zima!! LOL

Lol it was either Zima or Fuzzy Navel wine coolers! I guess she felt buying them for me was like basically buying me sugar water…

I’m happy to share here on Subscriptionista. It’s the least I can do since you all put so much hard work into creating and running this amazingly fun, funny, informative, unique and honest blog!
