Hampton’s Lane Subscription Box Review + Coupon (Power Bowl) – January 2015

Hampton’s Lane is a subscription that helps you realize your culinary fantasies. Obviously not the one where you are canoeing in a chocolate lake while fishing for marshmallow fish… That would be a super weird subscription. No, this one deals with your secret desire to cook up culinary delights in your own kitchen that are so good your loved ones (or even cat if you are a loner) brag about how skilled you are. Cats do talk and brag.

I have always been what most would call challenged in the kitchen. Once as a kid I even accidentally set my kitchen on fire. So I used to just stay out of there. Lately, I have been more and more interested in cooking healthy meals that taste good enough to eat seconds of. I think I have finally grown tired of the 5 or so things I know how to make!

Hamptons Lane

Hampton’s Lane caught my eye, and as our other writers can tell you, it is a fun subscription! Each month there is a reveal of that month’s box. You can choose to skip or not. You can also get past boxes if they are not sold out as well as buy things you like right from their store.

Cost: $47 and you can skip months when you feel like it!

This is the Power Bowl box! This type of box is perfect for me because I am on the road a lot at work and it is super easy for me to just get fast food. I love the idea of just putting all sorts of yummy things together in a bowl and rolling out. Also it will make me giggle when I take out my “Power” bowl because I will imagine eating it will get me all jacked up and excited to work the rest of the day!

The inside packet gives information as well as recipes and tips. They also have a ton of recipes online. I spent so much time going through them and saving the ones I want to try. I want to test them out and do a video for all of you to laugh along with me! There are like 100 power bowl recipes just on Hampton’s Lane alone. So I have literally ZERO excuses to eat fast food crap again… unless I decide I just wanna get bloated for the thrill of it.

Onyx – Airtight Stainless Steal To-Go Bowl: I tested the heck out this thing. I wanted to be sure that it would really not leak all over my car or worse, my laptop. So I filled it with water and flung it around in my bag, and I left it in the car as it got warmer and shook it. I must have looked like a mad woman. Or maybe I always look like a mad woman… I don’t like to think about it too much in depth if you can dig it.

No leaks, and I actually felt a little wee sense of pride that it held up. It was designed here in the good ole USA and made in Korea. My favorite country for curious beauty products makes a mean bowl!

This holds 4.25 cups, which is more than enough for me to eat at lunch. I could even break up my meal into two smaller meals so that I am not losing my mind on the drive home after work. That time is the worst for me. I will literally reach for anything to eat! So now I can eat lunch and then have a little snack leftover and it will tide me over.

I look like I am from the future when I eat from this…

Evriholder – Salad Dressing Container: You know when you get something as a gift or subscription and you think to yourself, “This is pretty cool.” Then you use it and it is actually really cool? I have been running into Trader Joe’s to grab salads because I couldn’t get it together enough to pack my own. I just hate when things leak and the way I am always moving leaks happen. I tried to just put the dressing on stuff first and then pack it in Tupperware but its always nasty. Nothing turns me off like wilted food.

This little guy is super easy to fill and super easy to wash. I know because I tested it out as well! I really wanted to put this thing through a real life test. I did have hand wash it because I personally just wanted to clean it fast for the next use. However, it is is dishwasher safe which is always nice!

I wonder if this company makes flasks…

Lucky Dog – Dia del Perro Hot Sauce: This comes out of Hayward CA which is the Bay Area. I know a few folks kicking it in Hayward at this very moment! Spooky! Anyway, I really like that they included a hot sauce because I love hot sauces and honestly, not eating meat means I have to REALLY search for flavor sometimes. It means I basically drink hot sauce. This one had depth and spice. I am happy it will work with many different ingredients.

Is it weird I think the doggie is super cute?

Spiceologist – Chile Margarita Rub: This is a huge amount of rub and should allow me to be zesty and happy for many many power bowls. I love how I can put this on tofu and even make a drizzle and it tastes so bright and yummy. It works with meat as well as veggies which is really sweet for everyone. I mean, even if you eat meat you might wanna get your veggies all yummy.

How long before I start using this as a body scrub?

North Bay Trading Co. – Minnesota Grown Wild Rice: I was so taken with this rice! I want to use it to make “Tuxedo Rice.” I have a tuxedo cat, so it would be cool to do a sort of fun mixed bowl with this. I love how healthy it is and honestly it is nice to have different textures in a bowl.

I like fun food doncha’ know! (My attempt at a Minnesota accent, trust me it is worse better in person)

Nuts.com – Organic Pearled Farro: I feel like our writer Pnut secretly is in cahoots with Nuts.com. Or at least they know each other socially. If she is on terms with them, then I will have her send over this review because this was just the cutest bag of farro I ever have seen.

I never thought I would type the words “cutest bag of farro.”

Verdict: I am super glad I was able to get my paws on this Hampton’s Lane box. Mailbox Junkie (can I say how awesome it is to blog with all these ladies?!?) was right about this subscription. It has quality products and the curation is on point. The theme fit my needs perfectly, and I love that if it isn’t a month for me I can just press “skip” and be on my way!

More on the way with updates on Power Bowls!!!!! YAY!

lub it! I do wish there was a video of you throwing the salad container around though. Nuts.com is amazing. They sent them out in the modern moroccan box and we literally died over there Israeli couscous. Are you a vegan? I keep forgetting to ask.
I think the best part is that salad dressing container. Those are literally the hardest thing to find if you want to pack a salad. Alright now lets see some power lunches (maybe with power cocktails??)

That is a cute bag of farro! Thanks for the thought it is definately Pnut approved! Haha I just went to the nuts.com website and they are located in Jersey.

I hope you like the MN wild rice that is a hit on our neck of the woods my husband’s family has a rustic cabin out there. Pipqueak calls the rice “sprinkles rice” becuase it looks like chocolate sprinkles! One of the few exotics that my Pnut people eat.

I bet you make a great tofu stir fry like restaurants do!

    Another great nommy review!
