Play! By Sephora Subscription Review – February 2016

Disclaimer: There are no affiliate/referral links in this post. The box was paid for by Heat7918

Play! By Sephora is a make up subscription that has taught me the meaning of FOMO or Fear Of Missing Out mixed with a healthy dose of box envy. The wait list and long and there seems for me, that I will never get off of it! I imagine that the time I am able to sign up that we will have futuristic make up that we apply just by spraying on our faces. Seriously, who so I have to grease to get my box?!?

Thankfully it helps to have Heat7918, for her heart is kind and she has taken pity upon me to share her box with us all! Yay!

Cost: $10 a month

Below you will find her unboxing photos and comments! Thanks again Heat, it really means a lot to the blog!!! (Also I enjoy living thru you!) You help us out in more ways than you know! Unless you can read my mind… Can you? Hmmmmmm

Sephora Play! Review

My Play! by Sephora arrived yesterday – I immediately opened the box and took pictures.
Sephora Play! Review
Bare Minerals Pop of Passion Lip Oil-Balm in Plumberry Pop – I don’t actually see this color listed on their web-site… it’s a pretty color and while it’s sheer it’s still almost too-bright and/or too dark on my very fair skin. I think I can pull it off with the right make-up though!
Sephora Play! Review
Lancôme Drama Liqui-Pencil Longwear Eyeliner in Noir Intense – I have a LOT of eye liner but I love eye liner and I love black, but I haven’t used this yet.
Sephora Play! Review
Bumble and Bumble Pret-A-Powder – I plan to try this today.  I only wash my hair twice per week and find that I prefer powder dry shampoos over spray ones.
Sephora Play! Review
Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural Lipstick in N9 Copper Pink – Not to brag but… this color looks great on me! 🙂  I think this shade would be flattering on many skin tones and the formula is very moisturizing – this one is going straight into my daily circulation of lippies.
Sephora Play! Review
Tarte Lights Camera Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara – I don’t think I’ve ever tried a Tarte mascara so I’m happy to add it to my stash! (The stash that I really need to start using up faster and not adding to as much… sigh)
Sephora Play! Review
Tom Ford Black Orchid Perfume – As much as I hate perfume samples, Sephora always sends one as a bonus “6th” item and I think I’m okay with that. Partly because I fell in the love with the perfume from the January box – which I never thought would happen! Scent preferences are very personal and subjective… and I don’t like this one – at least in the vial. Perfumes really do smell different based on body chemistry or whatnot so I really should put this on (lightly) and see if I like it better an hour later.  But I don’t know if I can make myself do it. Sorry Tom Ford.
Sephora Play! Review
I am happy with my February box and with Play! by Sephora in general.  It’s not the most amazing box but better to me than other $10 subs. And I know many people are “over it” since they’ve been on the waiting list for over 6 months… sorry.  🙁

The Tarte mascara is one of my favorites. It builds nicely without clumping and leaving spider legs!

I need mascara that will make me look like I can braid my eyelashes…

Heat why do you like dry shampoo straight up rather than spray. I used to like straight up but I think I just get lazy and reach out for sprays.

Great review we all have box envy and want to plat too!

I think straight up soaks up the oil a little better to get rid of any greasiness, but the main reason really is the smell – I hate the smell of almost every spray I’ve tried and they all linger with me for the entire day and beyond until I wash my hair!

I think that is a very good point. I like the smell but you are right that the sprays do linger versus direct powder. Thanks for responding 🙂

Maybe mix the Bare minerals with another color. I have been having fun doing that lately. Plus I hear ombre lips are in over in Korea!

I will definitely try mixing colors, thanks MBJ! My lips always end up ombre because the outside always lasts longer… ugh.
