Saturday Trash Talk-Empties and Old Make-up (like really old)

Nobody likes trash more than me! So send me your empties pics and reviews for posting!! mailboxjunkie808 at gmail dot com

I cleaned out a bunch of makeup/skincare and so this is an empties/declutter post. I am tossing old stuff as well as products that don’t work well or have yucky stuff in them.

1st up: Empties!

20160219_140431-1Aura Cacia:
Box: Yuzen

With a name like euphoric Ylang Ylang there is no telling what could happen. I love bath salts and so this was an easy sell. Scent is light on the ylang ylang which I appreciated.

However, I sort of expected a euphoric vision or transportation to another dimension with a name like euphoric ylang ylang but it didn’t happen

Caudalie Instand Detox Mask
Box: Pnut Special

This mask dries and causes your skin to tighten. Of all the mask I have done lately, this one worked really well. It is a little hard to remove though. You will find yourself a day later with residue still under your chin wondering…. where did that come from.

Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream
ox: Birchbox

This was a tiny sample. It is very dense and a little goes a long way. Despite being dense, it is not greasy. I can see this being really great for people with eczema. I won’t re-buy though because it contains parabens. But if you are interested they do address this issue of parabens on their website. If I lived in a cold weather climate I might seriously consider using this product.

Ally if you are reading, I think this stuff is for you!!!

CoTz Face
Box: Pnut Special

I love this stuff hands down. It is a favorite of mine. I banned non-physical sunscreen from my life a long time ago so I have tried this stuff many times. Highly recommend! It is pretty amazing in all that it does and it still manages to be non-greasy!

Red Flower Wanderlust towelette
Box: Good Being or Goodebox

I pretty much think this stuff/scent smells like heaven. Probably because it contains the most elegant smelling weed ever called Vetiver! I swear some kid was sent out to clean up the yard and pulled it up and was like huh, this stuff smells really good! Anyway a pack of 7 is $5 so they are a great deal!

Mrs Meyers Clean Day:
68 loads down! I really like most of this product line. This stuff works well and is free of yucky stuff

Tresemme Hairspray:
This bottle has lasted me 3 years…………….

2nd up: TRASH BIN!

Ofra Eye Gel Primer:
Box: Little Lace Box

Meh, this stuff doesn’t work very well IMO! It is very thin. It also contains triethanolamine which ranks a 5 on the deep. So long Charlie!

Pacifica Powerful Color Lipstick
Box: Ipsy

This came in my January Ipsy. I wanted to love it for so many reasons but it literally feels like rubbing chalk on your lips. It is supposed to ‘amazingly creamy’ but I don’t know if my sample is bad or what but I can barely get it on my lips because it is so dry.

Bare Minerals Tinted Mineral Veil

This expired in 2011!!! And that’s all I’m going to say about that………….

Make Skin Illuminator
Box: Birchbox

I actually have 2 of this sample. So both are heading to the land of no return because of this:

No matter how I apply this stuff it just looks like plain glitter…………………… Am I missing something? When did wearing glitter come back into fashion for grown women? Am I applying it wrong?
Does anyone love this stuff because I have 2 samples of it and will send it your way! I mean this stuff isn’t cheap! I have like $40 worth of it.

20160219_141647-1Bare Minerals Stuff:

I used to love this stuff but started to feel like it always made my face look ashy. But for some reason I kept it around….. for like 4 years………….Please don’t call hoarders on me!

Lush Lust Solid Perfume

Another item I have had for many years now….. I think this perfume is responsible for me disliking things heavy on the Ylang Ylang… It channels Ylang Ylang to the infinite power!

Lisa Hoffman Vitamin A and C Serum:
Box: Derm Stores beauty box from 2011

This has like one pump left in it…. I have had it for about 3 years now with only that one pump left…… It is also like straight Retinol Palmitate so it gets the boot.

Thanks for getting trashed with me, until next week!

    Pnut Special! Love it!

Did you get the Mrs. Meyers via Amazon S&S? They have tons of Mrs. Meyers products. I pick up a candle from there because it is one of the healthier and economical choices on the plan. I need more candle love in my sub boxes lol. Also I think the basil hand soap refill was like dirt cheap. If you don’t mind basil and saving $ see if its still there.

I have bought it on Amazon but I have also bought it at target too. I do the hand soap refills from amazon though! Have you heard of Wick Box? It is a luxury candle box!!

Yes! I saw your awesome review 🙂

The only thing of theirs that I don’t like is the dish soap. I prefer the target method brand.

      • February 20, 2016 at 3:10 am

I love Method! Wish Amazon would have more of that we try to avoid Target (always end up overspending there) but pick Method stuff up at Home Depot. My husband was worried about poisoning the kids but I told him it was safe that was why I bought the shower, granite, all purpose, yadda yadda and he read the back and it said somehing like drink a glass of water and call the doctor in the morning! The stash is under the sink which is protected by a sub box hair tie.

Have you ladies looked at ePantry? They offer Mrs. Meyers and Method products (along with Acure and several others) but I have no idea how the compare on cost with Amazon or Target. I ordered from ePantry once and got my favorite candle EVER! Then had no troubling canceling. The only reason I haven’t used them gain is because I’ve been trying a variety, including Honest company, so I haven’t needed more. I will probably reactivate at some point to get that candle again… And stock up on a few other things from Mrs. Meyers.

          • February 20, 2016 at 7:28 am

I need to limit my Amazon obsession to free shipping lol for the most part outside free ship offers. Plus ePantry requires talented inventory tetrising because you need to fill up one box. With that said, The item selection in ePantry exceeds the Save and Subscribe, sadly, many S&S items have spilt from bulk and are now in ePantry.

I think I would try Peapod before ePantry might as well get fresh items sent. But I have gotten overwhelmed every winter. There is another competitor that allows you to order from real food stores and I might try that but to much hassle.

So as much as S&S is varied, it is limited than the above mentioned items which makes it easier for me to keep a huge monthly box.

I looked up Peapod and it’s not available where I live…

I will have to check epantry. I have been addicted to amazon for so many years because of the free shipping plus now with prime I abuse the shipping privileges

          • February 20, 2016 at 10:50 pm

I just want to note that I did notice you said favorite candle ever but I am choose to put my head in the sand as to not tempt me. There is a Paddywax ocean candle real cheap on Prime but not S&S. I get Luxe Provence Verbena and Mrs. Meyers lavender and ?lemon? Verbena candles on S&S. All the others are pricey (I rather buy something like that at Nordies Rack or direct from Objects of Purpose or Soy Delicious or Woodwick or….)

I used to think Method was a Target brand too, but it can be found in grocery stores (costs more $ tho) and pharmacy chains. It’s on Walmart’s website,, and too.

I haven’t tried Mrs. Myers products yet. I’ve also been eyeing Seventh Generation. Has anyone tried their products?

I have a bag of empties put aside. I’m not sure if I’m waiting until I have more or just being too lazy to take photos. Lol

The Seventh Generation Paper Towels were pretty good. Not quite like Bounty but… better than I was expecting. And good enough for us – we use a lot of paper towels regardless.

        • February 20, 2016 at 5:56 pm

LC if your on Amazon S&S sometimes they have really really nice coupons on Seventh Generation. With that said, I only have tried the wipes from the brand. The wipes are very lovely for baby wipes (I think more nice than Honest) but I would only repurchase with an awesome coupon but I could not pay retail.

I usually just go read the “most helpful” review (I trust more if its a verified purchase review) on Amazon irregardless if I buy the product via Amazon or not.

Ooh, I’ll have to take a look at the coupons. I usually only buy things on Amazon that I can’t find anywhere else. I’ve had a lot of issues with the shipping taking WAY too long (I don’t have Prime). I always check out product reviews on Amazon tho!

This is totally off topic but I use to work at a place…. That use to bring the mail to Hawaii every day! They aren’t in business anymore but I had planned a ton of trips to Hawaii and I still am kicking myself in my a** for not going…. I absolutely love the beach…. I live in Michigan so I’m always at the beach but it doesn’t compare to the Ocean….

Well if you do ever decide to make the trip a little known fact is the first two weeks of December are the cheapest time to come (and the least busy)!!
My brother worked in Michigan and it is really beautiful on those lakes. Plus there is so many fun boating activities like beer drinking!!

My BFF “has” to go to Hawaii for work sometime in Q4 and I’m probably going to tag along. Maybe I’ll suggest early December – I’m so excited since I’ve never been!

MBJ, I won’t call hoarders otherwise I’d have to tattle on myself too!

Great empties – this weekly series really helps motivate me to use my stuff or toss it!

I have that Make Skin Illuminator too but haven’t tried it…

Ok try it and tell me if I am crazy or applying wrong. I want to love it but after I put it on I just laugh at myself. But maybe I am just looking at my face to close!
I have actually been loving how this post forces me to use stuff up. It is a fun little mission for the week!
