Sunday Morning Coffee Talk: February 14th

Today is a day like no other and it is like any other day. This post will contain 14th tangents. The tangents will vary from the number 14th, words that start with V , love and Valentine’s day and maybe a few other tidbits thrown it. But it promises to appeal to all. Please feel free to add your tangent in the comments or your reflections on the tangents

(1.) Let’s get it started in here….

oreos

Because they are just good…

(2.) Today is marked as Valentine’s Day and according to History.com this day has been a day of celebration for a long time. Here are a few things I learned:

  1. A day to celebrate St Valentine but they are not sure which one as the Catholic Church recognizes 3 St Valentines which were all romantic men.
  2. It may have been celebrated in February to appropriate the Pagan holiday of Lupercalia
  3.  “According to the Greeting Card Association, an estimated 1 billion Valentine’s Day cards are sent each year, making Valentine’s Day the second largest card-sending holiday of the year”
  4.  Women purchase approximately 85 percent of all valentines

Or was it invented by a paper or greeting card company?

(3.) Venereal Diseases:  AIDS, chlamydia, genital warts, gonorrhea, syphilis, yeast infections, and some forms of hepatitis to name a few

Sorry I am a nurse and it starts with the letter V! Plus I promised you more then hearts and flowers….

(4.) It is important to love yourself. This is a stanza from one of my favorite poems of all time which was written by Oriah Mountain Dreamer from the poem “The Invitation”,

mtn dre

First step to loving yourself? Treating yourself to Subscription boxes of course!!!

(5.) One of my favorite break-up meltdowns ever…

(6.) A great reason to be single? You don’t have to deal with other people’s farts

ppssshhhhhhtoooooot…….. yep, that’s sexy hunny.

(7.) Flowers? Do you love them or could you care less? My favorite flower is the Obake Anthurium:

(8.) The 5 Love Languages. Have you ever heard that term before? It is a book written by Gary Chapman. It expresses the concept that we all feel and perceive love differently. You take a quiz to find out your “love language”. This is the way in which you like to be loved. It is really useful if you are human being.

(9.) Name this movie quote:
prin

(10.) Facts about the number 14 (from www.mysticalnumbers.com)
(a.) The moon is 14 days waxing (increasing) and 14 days waning (decreasing)

(b.) A cub octahedron has fourteen sides. It has six squares and eight triangles

(c.) Franklin Pierce was the 14th President of the United States. 1853 – 1858

(11.) A really great love song:

My mom was listening to the Beatles when I was born so it was a forgone conclusion that I would love them

(12.) Best romantic movie of all time IMO? Sleepless in Seattle….. I know, but I love it.

Least romantic movie: Alive (1993)….. I actually watched this on a date… don’t recommend it. People eat each other.

(13.) Love stats:
(a.) Couple with the longest marriage: 86 years!
(b.) Man with the most divorces; 29!

(14.) The last and final tangent: We are thankful for each and every reader of the blog! Thanks for spending your day with us. Now go boycott or celebrate this 14th of February!

Here is my Valentine. We ran off and eloped 7 years ago and got married on the top of Mauna Kea.

This post is making me less stressed about today. I think I’m going to send a camel toe pic to my bear as that is what I think is romantic… No one told me much about romance growing up obviously….

On a funny note I once had a first date who took me to see American psycho as a first date flick. It just was not romantic at all…

If at the end of the day you are not snuggled up making out to the movie Alive then your day has been a success…..

While American Psycho is one of my favorite movies, A. movies are the worst first dates and B. what was your date thinking?? In the book, there’s this bit where he’s watching a guy play with his sushi and the best line is “sushi is not a pet.” I can’t find my book =\ it must be in my pink unicorn midwest childhood bedroom.

I think mini-golf is the best first date. No one looks cool min-golfing so you pretty much have to be yourself

        • February 14, 2016 at 3:48 pm

I can feel that. I did that before as a date but the guy was sorta annoyed that I was being soo goofy and didn’t think keeping score was really worth the time. Guess he wanted a more serious golfer?

          • February 15, 2016 at 12:54 pm

Oh those people that think keeping score at mini-golf is important…. sigh, they are a strange breed

          • February 15, 2016 at 6:09 pm

They are a bunch of people I don’t care to make out with. I mean huh? If we don’t have a flirty bet going and a date wants to keep score than that dude is ummmm not right. Not right in any sense of the word!

      • February 14, 2016 at 6:25 pm

He was so weird. He kinda had the whole Bale look as well. One night we went out and it was raining and he took us to a playground to “Play in the rain” ummmm naw dude. Another time he told me we were going to go on a causal date and I show up in my college sweatshirt and jeans, only to be escorted to Green’s a super nice veggie restaurant in SF. I was so mortified. Had to ghost.

        • February 15, 2016 at 12:55 pm

He was probably just hoping to have a wet t-shirt contest…

          • February 15, 2016 at 6:08 pm

That would be a disappointment for all involved lol
