The Epic Quest for: A Natural Foundation-episode 2

I recently started an Epic Quest for a natural foundation. It may be as long as a Lord of the Rings Movie but let’s hope not. All I remember about the 1st Lord of the Rings is falling asleep and waking up multiple times in the middle of the movie wondering how it could still possibly be going on and that the only way to get it to end was to go back to sleep.

Sorry to all Lord of the Rings fans! I am really glad you like it!!

Any-hoo, If you want to read how the quest started then click HERE

Hopefully you are caught up and so here we go.
Episode 2:
The Product: Juice Beauty Perfecting Foundation in Sand

Here is a crop shot of it for sale on their website. I was really really surprised to see that this foundation only came in three shades. I am not sure if they are phasing this foundation out for the new line or if it only ever came in three shades.

And below is a close up of the color Sand:

I am a bargain shopper (hello I love sub boxes!! Amazing RV for 1/2 the cost!). I have weird skin issues/coloring. I know if I do or don’t like something in about 1 second. So would I pay full price to try this out? Nope.

Hello Ebay!

I got a full sized tube/jar for $15. Whoever invented the new-ish Best Offer deal on Ebay gets a pat on the back from me.
Here it is swatched against Pure Anada.

Now when you start to investigate ingredients you really open up a rabbit hole for yourself.

Or if you live on Maui a crab hole.

If you really want to be natural then you have to ask yourself what that really means because anything other than coconut oil has synthetic stuff thrown in. Here are the ingredients for this Juice Beauty Foundation (taken from their site):

“Juice Beauty is constantly updating our ingredients to bring you results using the safest, local, organic and natural ingredients possible.

Made with certified organic ingredients.

Current Formula Ingredients:

Aloe barbadensis (organic aloe juice)*, organic glycerin*, polyglyceryl-2 oleate, polyhydroxystearic acid, polyglyceryl-2 stearate, ricinus communis (organic castor seed oil)*, vitis vinifera (organic grape seed oil)*, sesamum indicum (organic sesame seed oil)*, helianthus annuus (organic sunflower seed oil)*, cera alba (organic beeswax)*, vaccinium corymbosum (organic blueberry seed oil)*, punica granatum (organic pomegranate seed oil)*, rubus idaeus (organic raspberry seed oil)*, actinidia chinensis (organic kiwi seed oil)*, vaccinium macrocarpon (organic cranberry seed oil)*, fragaria ananassa (organic strawberry seed oil)*, citrus aurantium dulcis (organic orange oil)*, euterpe oleracea (organic acai berry)*, lycium chinense (organic goji berry)*, euphorbia cerifera (candelilla wax), xanthan gum, tocopherol(Vitamin E), thymus vulgaris (thyme extract), melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree oil), rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary extract), leuconostoc/radish root ferment filtrate. May contain titanium dioxide, mica, iron oxides.

Sigh, hope you are still awake. So take Polyglyceryl-2 oleate for example. Although it is ranked as a safe stabilizing agent it is still a synthetic ingredient. I mention this because you have to take all this stuff with a grain of salt and say if you want to wear foundation than you are you are looking for a safer option. But I must say that Juice Beauty does a pretty terrific job with their ingredients.

Ok here a pic of it on!

Coverage: Medium
Application: I used a foundation brush
Pros:
This stuff is very hydrating for foundation. I actually prefer it to the first one I tried. It is also sweat-proof. I tried it out for the first time on a hot Sunday and it stayed put.
Cons:
The color isn’t quite right.

Survey Says:

I really love this foundation. It goes on easy, stays put, and isn’t cakey. I really wish the color was a little less yellow. So for right now I am using this one over the other foundation I tried because I have a full jar of it and it is really gentle on my skin. Plus the ingredient list is one of the best I have found. They have a new line that just came out that offers a lot more shade options (see below). So I am interested to see their new formula plus get my hands on some samples!! juice2

I did not know that Juice Beauty made foundation. I’ve been reading the reviews with interest because my foundation is not a natural brand.

I am dying to try a few others but refuse to buy the full product until I can test it out. I don’t understand why more companies don’t offer foundation samples for purchase. It is so weird to me!
