What to Expect: “Our Curators understand home decor, from classic styles to contemporary looks. They’ve gone through extensive training and have hands-on experience to know which art, sizes, and colors will look best for your home.”

I am always envious of the cool prints people get in boxes, and I’m slowly building my art collection, so I decided to sign up for an art subscription!

Before getting started, here’s the pricing and size guidelines so you know what size of print to expect. I went for a medium print at $32/month.

You do a survey to find out what your art tastes are upon signing up, and unfortunately right now if you want to change your tastes you have to retake your survey as if you were a new customer.

Then on the 15th of the month your art curator contacts you to let you pick between three options. These were my three options:

ArtCrate february 2016 choices

  • A. forest face: I liked, bf not so much
  • B. handy: we both liked
  • C. all of the things: bf liked, I thought it was too busy and it actually looks like option C from last month

The art comes in a nice flat, stiff cardboard envelope. There was an artist bio and info about the size of my art.

Palmistry by Cat Coquillette

Palmistry print by Cat Coquillette: My piece is 11×14. The same piece in 13×15 is a small from Society6, and sells for $25, though I can’t figure out how much they charge for shipping.

I actually sent this piece as a suggestion after seeing Cat’s pieces the first month I got some of her art [click to see November review].

I like this piece a lot, and when I get around to framing the 900 other pieces on my shelf, I’ll probably put this one in our bedroom.

I’ll just put this here as a reminder that your house needs more art =) Also, I hope those of you who’ve ordered something share what you got! Share it on Instagram or email us.

Verdict: We like this a lot! I am going to get March’s picks in a few days, then I will cancel for a bit because we are on art overload, and now I have to buy a bunch of frames.

What do you think? Which piece would you have chosen?

I tried to learn palm reading as a kid, so I kinda really liked it for that reason =)

Hmm I can see it with a colored mat and a black frame….

You posted that right about when I was picking out a black frame. I grabbed a gold mat but it had a brown inlay that I didn’t see, and the print looks fine without it. So, now I’ve got three prints all framed and ready to hang!

The print is interesting. I always enjoy checking to see what you pick and why.
