GlobeIn Subscription Box Review + Coupon – March 2016

Disclosure: Post contains affiliate links, Opinions? Honest as the work day is long…

GlobeIn is a subscription that seeks to bring the world to you every month in the form of carefully curated artisanal goods from throughout the world. They take the time to make sure items are fairly traded and therefore support artists and their work. This theme is really important to me as a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer I saw first hand while serving how much it can mean to an artist, family, and whole community to be fairly paid for their hard work. It can mean a drastically better life!

GlobeIn has two boxes:

Artisan Box: $35 a month, $33 per month with a 3 month subscription, and $30 a month with a 6 month subscription. Use coupon codes WELCOME to save 25% off of your first box with a 3 month subscription!!!

Benefit Basket: A smaller version of the Artisan Box that has one item nestled a basket: $19.99 a month or $56.95 every 3 months. Use coupon code TRYBENEFIT to save $7 off of a 3 month subscription!!!

I love that they put so much detail into what went into every single item!

Celebi Erturk’s – Wooden Frame (Turkey): This family business employees 50 local craftsmen to make these pretty wooden frames. Soon these same workers will be opening their own businesses, so talk about on the job training! I am loving all the items we are getting made of wood because the grain is so pretty to me. It really is a subtle work of art.

Obviously I am going to have to think of something really special to put into it. Something that really will get pride of place in my studio office space. I will let all the animals and people in my life fight it out for the privilege.

Probably will put a picture of myself…

Marie Mae – Planner (Ghana/Rwanda): I LOVE this planner. Some people may squawk about getting a planner later in the year but this actually lets you write in the dates so if you went on vacation you could even skip a week of it! Ha! I love how it is set up and the front of it so simple and powerful.

Marie Mae is a company that outsources its design work to African artisans, this was was designed by Ewurama, inspired by the patterns of her floor. Marie Mae also has a business school that helps entrepreneurs do things like identify markets that are right under their noses. I need that!

If a planner were inspired by my floor it would just be a jumble of crumpled papers with a light scent of BBQ sauce.

Arifi – Pencil Cup (Turkey): Another beautiful wood item that can also double as a make up brush cup. Ok ok, I will try to put my pens in it. We will see how long that lasts lol…

Anyway Arifi works with give other craftsmen who used Globein’s order to distribute the work to other local craft woodworkers. Really speaks about the power of our collective money and how it can truly impact lives for the better. Imagine if we did this with more subscriptions?

I will now have a pen drawer all cleared out, what will I do with the space?

Elephant Poo – Bookmark (Sri Lanka): I usually am pretty meh about bookmarks. I am one of those people you might kinda actually hate. Yeah, I am a page folder. Emm Hmm… I am freely admitting it to you. I. Bend. Pages. To. Keep. My. Place.

This bookmark is so pretty, and just all around cute it makes me want to change my ways. I mean why bend a page when I now can break out my bookmark with a flourish and loudly give out a contented sigh as I slip it into my book and lay it down on next to me. People will totally wonder what I am reading about right???

The story is sweet. Because in the end this product demonstrates how humans and animals can live together in a harmonious way that also provides humans a way to make a profit to better their lives. The paper is great quality as well. Once Sub Bella sent me a note book from the company and I LOVE it.

These book marks are indeed made from the fiber of elephant dung, I wonder if zoo’s know they are sitting on a gold mine of good stuff?

Basket: Every month you will usually get a basket. I love these and have been storing all my various sundries in them. It makes my place look a lot more neater and it has been fun collecting them. They hide my messy shame in style! I also like all the different colors I am collecting. Really cute.

One hides my sheet masks!

Verdict: I think the theme of this month’s GlobeIn  was awesome! I have an awful memory and honestly I don’t work on it enough. These items make putting my thoughts and work space in order a joy. The simple designs go well with just about anyone’s decor, and the planner is very much needed. All of this at a great price where our money was put toward directly helping people and empowering them to make a living off of their wonderful skills.

Pnut’s wood joke is HARD to follow, so don’t BARK at me for trying. Did you remember to put away your new items? In a TRUNK perhaps? Or did you LEAF everything out in the open?? I digress… and I better BRANCH off to other things, such as this lame $100 textbook which mas made from a tree.
