Ipsy Subscription Review – March 2016

Ipsy is a subscription that costs $10 a month and sends out four or five deluxe sample size beauty items. Because of the price point it invites comparisons with Birchbox. Ipsy is more make up based, and has a “waitlist.” You can skip this wait if you pimp out your social media. I just emailed and asked to be put on the list and it was done very quickly.

Pink bag! I reuse these for when I send out products to my friends!

Ipsy Subscription Review - March 2016

I am not sure what to think of this look… It isn’t very spring to me as more of a ghost of springtime’s past…

Ipsy Subscription Review - March 2016

The bag is ok. Last month’s was soooo much more my style. It seems like people are digging it so…

Ipsy Subscription Review - March 2016

Marc Anthony – 3 Day Smooth: I like the idea of this and am looking forward to using it! It is supposed to keep the smooth of my blow dry. I always get a big of frizz no matter what so I will take any smoothing help I can get. This is a large sample and should last a long time, so nice to bring on a trip where I want to look my best.

What should I bring on a trip where I want to look my worst? Also where would that be? Probably prison I would guess...

Ipsy Subscription Review - March 2016

Starlooks – “Jet” Luxe Longwear Eye Pencil: This is another black eyeliner. I am cool with that since I don’t mind getting things I use. I need to do more research on this brand though. I have been seeing it in my Ipsy’s pretty often. I haven’t personally been wow’d but who knows? This could be it!

Or I can send this to Mailbox Junkie and beg her to draw more pics of my cat!

Be A Bombshell – Baked Bronzer (Heat Wave): This is a large product! I can probably use this all season and still have a ton left! I like the color because it go on light enough to build so that I don’t look dusty dirty when using it. I can actually use it as a natural looking eyeshadow. I think I will mainly be using this to put on my legs once I get a summer glow. I like to try to make my legs look a little more glam when I go out and about. Right now they look a mess though…

By the time I get my leg color right it will be Winter!

Bean Guachie – Eyebrow Brush: I am so bad with my eyebrows. I actually need to pluck them ASAP. They look like some sort of weird child’s drawing of caterpillars that aren’t fluffy enough. So I probably could use this brush when I finally get around to actually getting my eyebrow game up.

First though I really need to get my baking game up. Priories.

NYX – Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick (Pink Lust/Passion Rose): This product pretty much makes the entire bag for me. I have wanted to try this since it came out but never got a chance until now. I see so many pretty chicks on “The Instagram” showing off their pouty lips in different shades and it does look pretty cool. My lips are small and are not full. I don’t care I will just go ahead and slap this on. I also like the bright color because I keep getting sent muted and nude shades. Those kinda bore me now.

The name of this makes me wonder what “Grey Lust” would be…

Ipsy Subscription Review - March 2016

Verdict: I pretty much always feel Ipsy is worth the money if you just like trying out new products. I spend so much more on maybe a lipstick and a nail polish inside of CVS or Target so the value is there for me. I am also open to trying just about anything. So Ipsy is a great if you are open to giving anything a whirl and if you like to have a pile of make up bags that will shock your friends, and worry your boyfriends/husbands/dude you let take you out to dinner sometimes when you are hungry (but who really cares what HE things anyway).

I dropped ipsy for 3b but I’m so greedy I want both. I have put a moratorium on my boxes till after I move in April but will probably subscribe to everything under the sun during a wine induced unpacking binge. :/

I am TOTALLY greedy. hahaha I wish I could find a way to do this blog and also lighten up on subscriptions. I think those who can actually stop the addiction will always be my hero! As long as you keep stopping by at least.. 😉

I thought the card said “hella Spring”, which would actually be kinda funny. Also, I’d assumed Be a Bombshell was a Wantable brand because I’d never seen it elsewhere.

I like the idea of Hella Spring LOL I swear I never heard of the brand until sub boxes. I hate to be a jerk but I usually just sigh when I see it. I guess I have a wee bit of the label whore in me.

I recently canceled my Ipsy after a 1yr sub – it was good (my first sub ever… beat Birchbox by 1 month) but it didn’t WOW me. I also need more make-up like I need another hole in my head. If Ipsy had Birchbox’s point system and gave me 40% off a 1-yr sub (like BB did for Black Friday!), would I have gotten Ipsy for another year? Hell yeah.

Looks like a great Ipsy month for you Subista – yay! And I’ve seen your lips – that bottom lip does have a little bit of pout to it. More than mine. 🙂

Wow! Ipsy was your first? I swear birchbox to me is THE first for almost everyone. I should do a post on it to see everyone’s first. I TOTALLY wish they had the point system. Even if they had better prizes. I have so much make up I don’t use. I want for 40% sales!!!! Great, now that you said something nice about my bottom lip it has been sitting on my face like it owns the joint! 😉

Ipsy was also my first sub ever. For some reason I really wanted the March makeup bag last year, but I ended up starting with April. It didn’t really WOW me and I quickly discovered that there was an entire world of sub boxes! I cancelled Ipsy after one month, lol.

This month’s makeup bag is really cute! Please report back on the NYX Liquid Suede! I’m not really a lipstick wearer, but that one looks intriguing.

So… this really does cover like a lipstick,… but it for some reason gets all over my teeth. I don’t even know how it does it honestly. It just cakes on like no other. The color is super bright and vibrant so nothing subtle from a bright color!

Heh was Ipsy your first! Birchbox was my first makeup sub box. But before there was a company that did one time boxes (RIP Cravebox) which was my jump from GWP to boxes.

I wonder what made us so into it…

            Collecting and trying new stuff!

          • March 27, 2016 at 4:34 pm

That makes me feel a lot better when you put it that way

      • March 25, 2016 at 4:55 pm

        Totally do a post!

I also wish for more 40% sales for stuff I don’t really need but “collect/hoard for usage”!

        • March 27, 2016 at 2:06 pm

I totally feel you. I just always have so much more than I will use ever
