Saturday Trash Talk-A threesome

Trash Talk is all about stuff we are using or throwing away for various reasons. Do you want in on sharing your empties and seeing your opinions aired on the inter-webs?!? Email me at: mailboxjunkie808 at gmail dot com to get in on this trash pile extravaganza!

This week we are three gals and three cans!

Mailbox Junkie (that’s me!):

So believe it or not I used this all in one night! Here is how it went down:

6:55 pm: Run Bath with Not Soap Radio Liquid Freud This is actually the fourth and final container I had of this stuff. I think the universe was trying to tell me to calm down as this stuff promises emotional stability. After four bottles, I am still cray cray! As I have mentioned before it smells good and one small bottle makes enough bubbles for one bath.

My voice of inner reason is telling me to ignore my inner voice of reason. Freudian enough?

7pm: Baby goes to bed!

7:01pm: Wash Face with Acure Facial Cleansing Creme. Now this stuff pushes you to the hippie edge and makes you commit because it smells like seaweed (but actually contains none). But it works really well!

The strong minty smell may have given me dreams of mojitos….

7:02pm: Follow up face wash with Art Naturals Konjac Facial Sponge Set. These have been popping up in a lot of boxes lately. So I was intrigued to try it out. This set had 2 sponges. One is for daily use and the other is for weekly use. Because I love to be efficient I tried both. They have a nice lightweight and gentle texture giving you a scrubbed behind the ears feeling.

These are multi-use so here they are drying….

7:03pm: Pour boiling water over Skin Owl Facial Steam and jump in bath! It smelled like really wonderful tea. It felt fabulous on my face and the steam helped open my sinuses. I do think these would be really easy to make your own version of with loose leaf tea. Here is the steam in action:

7:10pm: Apply Tony Moly Seaweed Mask. This one was probably my favorite of the three. Although here is a disclaimer that it probably felt the best because my face was scrubbed and steamed prior to use.

7:25pm: Drain Bath and use Real Beauty for a Cause Coffee Scrub. This was my first coffee scrub. I was surprised to find it was drier than a sugar scrub. The grittier and drier texture makes it feel much more scrub like than a sugar scrub that leaves you feeling like your all oiled up. The only part I found hard was the smell. Which is ironic because I love coffee. The smell takes me back to my days of working at Starbucks schlepping coffee and bagging coffee grinds for people to take home to their gardens. All that being said, you have delightful skin post use.

Because the ingredients are so simple, you could always use this in the morning if you run out of your regular java!

Pnut’s Trash Can:

I just received C&E LaSource in my Glossybox and it is great timing because all my subscription box tube creams are turning into empties! And everything in this picture is fabulous and I highly recommend for ultimate hand succulency!

Susie’s Trash Can:
Susie actually has her own blog but because she believes that trash should be shared she has let us repost. Check her out here

1. Eco Beauty Goodnight Cream– Ipsy.  This lotion was okay.  It wasn’t great but it wasn’t horrible either.  It is not thick enough for me in the winter.  But I finished it up when it was still hot outside.  I used it after all my other nighttime products and before my face oil.  It did the job.  I like the pouch but I would not repurchase this lotion.

2. Angel Face Botanicals Grace Facial Toner–Goodbeing Box. I loved this.  I used it every night after cleansing and it made my skin feel great. It was not drying at all.  I can definitely see myself purchasing this toner when I finish my others.

3. Olay Botanicals Moisturizing Toner–Walmart (I believe).  This was a nice toner.  I used it in the mornings after cleansing and it didn’t dry me out.  I like the Olay brand and would buy this when I run out of all the others in my stash.

4. Royal Apothic Bubble Cream–Little Lace Box.  I was so happy to discover this!  I loved the cream itself.  It smelled so nice and it made my skin so soft.  I felt like I was in a fancy hotel spa every time that I used this. I definitely plan on buying this in the future.  My only complaint is that it was hard to squeeze the cream out of the tube.

5. Laneige Water Sleeping Mask– Popsugar + Target. This was the first sleeping mask that I ever tried and I immediately became a believer!  I used this twice a week and I loved the way my face looked in the morning.  All plump , dewy and soft.  I’m so happy that I have a couple more of these thanks to Target boxes.  I will purchase a full size when I use those for sure.

6. Suzanne Kaufman Shower Gel/Shamoo. Net-A-Porter 2014 Holiday Box.   This gel showed me that just because it is expensive, it doesn’t mean that it is better.  I tried it as a shampoo and was very disappointed.  So then I used the rest as a shower gel.  It was okay.  Will not purchase full size and will even give away if I get another deluxe sample.

7. Simple Micellar Wipes–Target.  I love these.  I use them in the mornings to remove my nighttime products.  I have several other brands to use right now, but I will definitely repurchase these at some point.

8. Dove Dry Spray–Allure Thrills.  This worked just fine and it was nice to get a full sized deodorant in a box.  But, it made me cough every time I used it.  I don’t think that I will buy it just for that reason.

9. Olay White Strawberry Body Wash–Walmart.  This gel worked fine, but the smell just wasn’t for me.  My grandkids ended up using it as a hand wash because they liked the sweet scent.  They called it the candy wash. I would buy this, but in a different scent.

10. MD Solar Sciences Tinted SPF 30–Birch Box. Loved this!  I don’t wear foundation unless it’s as special occasion, but I love tinted sunscreens and BB Creams.  This was a great match for my skin and I do plan on purchasing a full size this summer.

11. Beauty Protector Conditioner–Birch Box.  My new favorite shampoo and conditioner!  I love the way it makes my dry, mature hair feel and the scent takes me to my happy place!  I have already used my BB Points to buy the full sized set.

12. Eyeko Black Magic Mascara–Quarterly Box (?). I did not like anything about this.  It was a very dry formula and flaked in my eyes.  My eyes were so irritated and watery that I had to remove it within the hour.  I did not finish this.  I just filed it under “trash”.

That’s all folks! Tune in next week for more trashy talk!

Susie I also loved the Laneige and disliked the Eyeko.

I’m always happy to like a product that I can actually afford! So I’m kind of happy when I don’t like the expensive stuff!

Susie, your review of the Kaufman Shower gel/shampoo cracked me up! Also I agree about the eyeko mascara too!

That was the only Net-A-Porter box I’ve ever purchased. I decided that I don’t want to take the chance of falling in love with expensive products!

    Great empties everyone!

Susie, I have 5 of those products but have only tried a couple so far. I agree that I like the Simple Micellar wipes and that the Dove spray deodorant makes me cough. 🙁

I know spray deodorants are making a comeback. Have you tried any other? Do they all make you cough or just this one? After using this, I’m leery of buying any sprays.

I never buy sprays so I don’t know if it’s just this one or not?

I have the degree one from a box and I like it, but it does make me cough too! Glad I’m not the only one who thought that!!
