3b (Beauty Beyond Borders) Subscription Review – April 2016

3b stands for Beauty Beyond Borders and is a beauty subscription that seeks to bring you the best in Asian beauty and perhaps products in general.  I have heard a ton about these types of items and so decided why not give this box a whirl because it was $12 which isn’t too much of a monthly gamble for me. I mean, all I have to do is get a cheaper bottle of wine or two and the budget it all good!

There is a waitlist to sign up. If you decide you are interested I suggest you get on it and they will email you to tell you when a spot opens up. I think I waited over a month. It is not like the fake Ipsy waitlist!

Oddly, I noticed that they say the $12 subscription also includes “Unlimited access to our team to answer any questions you might have.” This to me feels like a challenge of sorts. Wouldn’t it be funny if I started writing this team all sorts of odd questions? I wonder what kind of relationship advice they give!

The Box!

3b

But it is actually a bag!

The description card is soooo useful half the time I have no idea what I am getting!

Benton Honest – Cleansing Foam: I am not a huge face wash users. Yeah I am gross. I heard this was a little drying from reading other comments so I think I will give this away. I find that this brand is pretty nice and so if it were any other product I would be pleased!

I like how this is “honest” and not one of those other “Lying” type of face washes…

It’s Skin – Color Play Powder Eyeshadow: This might work well for underneath my eye brows. I just find it a bit too yellow for my skin tone. I will give this away most likely. Though part of me wants to just try to see if it will work or not.

I mean it’s color “play!”

Too Cool For School – Egg Mellow Cream: Usually I get upset when I see a foil sample, but in this case I am cool because now I can travel with these and we got 7 of them! I love that they call this egg cream. I am not sure why… makes me think of sweets I guess! This moisturizer did a good job on my skin before bed and I did not break out with it. No, my break out came later when I decided I was going to test out all the cleansing waters (who know when THAT post will get done).

The package implies that egg cream is too cool for school… I agree.

Botanic Farm – Natural Energy Mask (Rice): I can’t say how much I love to use sheet masks enough! I love them! They make it so easy to just slap on a mask and also scare anyone else in your house. Talk about sweet sweet alone time!

I need an energy body mask!

3b 7

Lador – Sleeping Clinic Ampoule: I love how fancy deep conditioners are these days! This is a product you slap into your hair and hope you come out looking like a beautiful show dog. Or maybe I just want to come out looking like a beautiful show dog?

My fancy dog name would be “Elle the Island of Refuge in The Storm of Your Heart”

Verdict: I am still getting a value out of 3B but this month wasn’t my total favorite. I think the eyeshadow was just not in my color and so it made the rest of the items have to make up for it. I don’t get a ton of Asian beauty products so a lot of this stuff is new and interesting to me. I can see some people feeling a bit disappointed but for me it is always a good time to try something new and slap some egg cream on my face!

I bought a whole bunch of drugstore and nicer ones to do a head to head test. I can say as far as super cheap drugstore as of this moment simple is winning out for its over all clean feeling. More to be posted!
