Beauty Heroes Subscription Box Review-April 2016

20160307_105449-1

Beauty Heroes is a subscription box that desires to send you something good. And they mean superhero good. The goodness they desire to send you can only be compared to the equivalent of opening a box of Girl Scout Thin Mints and only eating the suggested serving of 3.

Like I said, stuff only superheros can do……….

Ships: Monthly
Cost: $39
Shipping: Free as a bird
In the box: One super hero beauty (skincare, hair, body or makeup) product and a possible sidekick!

********New Feature!!!!!**********

I will now give a mini update on the March Product as I have had a full 30 days to use it.

Update on March’s Beauty Hero Product:
Item:
Skin Owl Mangosteen Pm drops
Claims: Anti-aging, Brightening, Clearing, Hydrating
Thoughts after multiple weeks of use:
The only claim I can validate from personal use it that it is moisturizing. I can apply it at 8 pm at night and my face still feels soft at 8 am. I think that is outstanding for a 2 ingredient oil. I don’t struggle with acne so I can’t speak to its effectiveness on clearing. I will also add that it smells delicious and that for an oil it does not go on greasy.

Now Onto April!

April’s theme is Nature is Luxury!

Claims: Transforming dull skin to dewy in minutes?!? Restoring skin to youthful and supple glow?!

Well, superhero, let’s see how you fair against this sun-damaged, tired, and old skin!!!!!!!

Pacific Exfoliating Moisture Mask (Rv $90)

Yep, that retail value is solid. One thing I like about Beauty Heroes is that they are actively choosing products and then featuring them. You are going to see brands you don’t get in other boxes. And the retail of the brands you get are currently selling at those prices (which can be a double edged sword when you find something you really cannot live without).

Green and white tea, mango butter, avocado butter, potato starch, jojoba oil……….

Wait whaaaat? Potato starch?? Whyyyyy???

Good thing their website can explain: This potato tuber contains high amounts of catecholase, a potent skin-lightening enzyme.

Ok good because I was worried that they just used it in the mask for its earthy potato scent….

This is a small container and I was intrigued to see the consistency to see how far a $90 jar of face mask would go:

It is very lightweight. Goes on smoothly almost like a thick serum. You are directed to leave it on for 2-5 minutes and then remove with warm wash cloth.

Impressions: Lovely. It smells earthy with strong overtones of Neroli. It gives a slight tingling but I had no irritation. I followed up the mask with the included sidekick Pacific Face oil. Oh mama, did my face feel good for hours.

So happy to get a mask that is already mixed!!! Powder masks and I….well, we seem to not mix well together….. bu dum bumf… pun intended.

Sidekick: Pacific Face Oil

This baby didn’t get any face time in the info card but it packs its own punch of oil ah-mazingness with hemp, marula, chia, passion fruit, papaya, watermelon, red raspberry, kiwi, and rosehip. And I didn’t even list them all!! It also has a topping of Marine EFAs which are essential fatty acids.

I am craving fruit salad after reading those ingredients!!

Impressions: Delicious. Goes on like a typical face oil. Smells of Neroli

Survey Says:

Home run. Yep, home run. I am really excited about this month. A mask that fights dullness and delivers a youthful glow in 2-5 minutes is exactly what you need when you have a toddler and a newborn at home. Also I can’t believe with all my melsama research that I have never heard of the lightening benefits of potato starch! Check back next month for a 30 day update on this product

When I use mY Skin Owl I think of watermelon Jolly Ranchers!

The scent of watermelon Jolly Ranchers on any beauty product sounds like a good thing (provided its not actually watermelon Jolly Ranchers)!

I am over the novelty of powder masks for the most part too. And lazy.
