Grove Collaborative Subscription Box Review + Coupon – May 2016

image

Box: Grove Collaborative (this link gives you $10 and me $10 when you sign up)!

Contents: Curated and/or self-selected eco-friendly products such as Cleaning, Laundry, Hand and Body, Face and Hair, Kids, Scent Free, Oral Care, etc. to ship when you want it (monthly and on demand)! Some of the Brands carried are Seventh Generation, Acure Organics, Method, Mrs. Meyers, Molly’s Suds, and house brand Grove Collaborative.

And they have CANDLES! *still on a candle kick*

Cost: Price of your items (usually discounted) plus $2.99 shipping (waived if you are a VIP member see more details below).

Kick Back and Get Comfortable:

I LOVE the service that Grove Collaborative offers. Every item that I received was either a promotional free item or discounted. I will keep a lookout for more promos and let you know! Most of the products that I bought were not found on discount via my beloved Amazon. Because I wanted to avoid passing Target and paying $200, we would buy our cleaning products on Home Depot (which were not discounted at all).

We all know how I want to save money in the comfort of my own home.

I found signing up was easy. Grove Collaborative asks a few questions and then curates a box for you. You can then feel free to delete and add items as you wish.

There is a $2.99 shipping charge BUT if you sign up for VIP status, the shipping fee is waived! So while you are shopping look into the VIP trial because you receive free shipping for two months and then you pay $19.99 for a year. In addition to VIP status, you will receive freebies amounting to five (5!) full size items within a year so $19.99 pays for itself in (1) free shipping and (2) five full size items!!! And if you forget to add the VIP trial to your order (like I did) the VIP trial option appears after you place your first order. And then if you forget that, I am sure the awesome customer service will take of you!

Once you make an order you can set up to change when you want your next delivery and what products you want for that delivery. Grove Collaborative will send advance email reminders and a text reminder (if you give your cell) when a monthly box is scheduled so you can make any modifications to that order. Also a week after you sign up, you will be able to “purchase now” if you need something now.

Note on Customer Service:

Not only is customer service awesome, make sure you look under the customer service representative’s signature because there might be a link with a coupon to one of their favorite products. You know me and codes and coupons.

I also was recently sent an email blast from Grove Collaborative with some points that they wanted their customers to be aware of and if you are not happy with a product they will compensate you! How awesome is that!?!

An other awesome plus is that if there is a promo for new customers, Grove Collaborative usually also rewards continuing customers with a promo as well!

Codes and/or Coupons for new and continuing customers = A Happy and Loyal Pnut

Here is a birds-eye view of my order:

Note the 🙂

Everything was taped and bubble-wrapped if need be. Everything was shipped fast!

The power of tape and bubblewrap is a wondrous thing when it comes to subscription boxes!

I had two of my Pnut people, Pipsqueak and Squeak, assist:

They went straight for the Disney Soaps so we will review those first!

image

Method Minnie Mouse Foaming Hand Wash in Strawberry Fizz: Man I wished this fizzed. It was a yummy strawberry scent that any child and adult would enjoy! I love the ear detail!!! And the bow does not hurt being in a household of little girls. The girls have been finding ways to find themselves in the bathroom to wash their hands! I originally was planning on refilling with other soap but now I will need to add this to my monthly delivery! I wanted to bite my hands the strawberry scent was so juicy!

Pricing Comparison: Grove Collaborative 1 vs. Amazon 0

image

Method Mickey Mouse Foaming Hand Wash in Lemonade: Oh my juicy lemonade! I love how Mickey Mouse complements Minnie Mouse. Mickey is not getting as much love as Minnie. I am sure because he does not have a bow so I will have to re-order him every other month.

Pricing Comparison: Grove Collaborative 2 vs. Amazon 0

image

Mrs. Meyer’s Hand Soap in Honeysuckle: I was only able to purchase Mrs. Meyer’s Hand Soap in Lemon Verbena via Amazon at a good discount so I was really happy to be able to have Mrs. Meyer’s Hand Soap in Honeysuckle! When I was a little Jersey girl I would walk to and from school passing a honeysuckle bush and I always made some time to have a drop of nectar when the blooms arrived. I love the heady scent of honeysuckle and this soap brings very fond memories of my childhood.

Pricing Comparison: Grove Collaborative 3 vs. Amazon 0 (you would need to buy a set of 3 to have a lower price-point)

image

Mrs. Meyer’s Large Soy Candle in Lavender: Grove Collaborative offers only the large candles by Mrs. Meyer’s. I buy the smaller candle in bulk during my Amazon Save and Subscribe deliveries. So you can tell that I love lavender. And Amazon. By buying candles online, I am reducing my glass breakage potential to my home and not in a store or between the store and my home.

Pricing Comparison: Grove Collaborative 4 vs. Amazon 0 (you would need to buy a set of 2 to have a lower price-point)

Random Digression: Why does the song Lavender McDade randomly come to my head? “Laaaavender… Lavender McDade”  oh someone wee just interrupted me with a baby Cabbage Patch baby in her arms.

image

Mrs. Meyer’s Dish Soap in Spring LE Peony: Sweet! Not only do I not need to goto Target and pay $200, I can pick up a Limited Edition scent via Grove Collaborative! One of my wedding flowers for my bridesmaid was peonies. Love peonies. Hence, I love this dish soap.

Pricing Comparison: Grove Collaborative 5 vs. Amazon 0

Another happy memory brought to you by Grove Collaborative!

Method Squirt + Mop Wood Floor Cleaner in Almond: I bought this to refill a spray from Method (a wood treatment spray in the same Almond scent). Grove Collaborative also sells this Method Wood spray with a discount, unfortunately I bought this for an arm and a leg at Home Depot.

image

I did clean of my dining room table floor in two sections to check for slippage  between the two above items and the Method Squirt + Mop Floor Cleaner did not slip while the Method Wood Spray did. I am refilling this because I rather spray that squirt.

Pricing Comparison: Grove Collaborative 5 vs. Amazon 1 (Using Amazon Save and Subscribe)

Do skunks/cats/llamas spray or squirt?

Seventh Generation Natural Tub & Tile Cleaner – Concentrated Refill: There is nothing like receiving cleaning products in the mail that makes one want to CLEAN. Ahem. Forget about the concentration and putting this container into a bottle of water, I made sure the water was hot in the bathtub and then put the stopper and added some of this bad boy. Scrubbed away with you guessed it, a scrubby brush! Now my tub is clean and my bathroom smells nice rather than the alternative chlorine bleach smell.

Pricing Comparison: Grove Collaborative 6 vs. Amazon 1

image

Seventh Generation Glass & Surface Cleaner – Concentrated Refill: Ok I eyeballed this into the below bottle. Please do not let the label make you think that I am some ultra-organizer the label maker was on sale on the Amazon! Now that I mention it, maybe I need to buy a refill because I hate it when I am using something without a backup. *adds label refill to Amazon cart*

What is it with an internal need for backups? Must be my squirreling tendencies. I digress…

image

To be more specific on my eyeballing techniques, I used approximately 1 part concentration to 3 parts water. This worked really well and better at removing my Pnut people’s hand marks than the Method glass cleaner in Mint which is reviewed below. But it did not smell. Well it smelled kinda lightly Windexy. So I just put this little spray bottle in the girl’s bathroom to use in the mirror there.

Pricing Comparison: Grove Collaborative 7 vs. Amazon 1

I guess I like my glass cleaner to smell non-windexy?

image

Method Glass Cleaner in Mint: Ok so comparing Method to Seventh Generation I would prefer Method for the scent. I did note that I had to use more product but it was a more pleasurable cleaning experience.

Pricing Comparison: Grove Collaborative 7 vs. Amazon 2 (using Amazon Prime Pantry)

Seriously, did I just say “pleasurable cleaning experience”!?!

The Back

Grove Collaborative Walnut & Cellulose Scoring Pad (2 Pack): This is dishwasher safe. I like scrubby brushes so I really do not use sponges anymore but I am giving this a shot. It does work well I am just a scrubby brush gal.

No Price Comparison here because this is Grove Collaborative’s house brand.

Pnut’s Grove Collaborative Haul

Verdict:

Final Price Comparison Tally: Grove Collaborative 7 vs. Amazon 2

In order for Amazon to beat Grove Collaborative in those two instances you would need to have been an Amazon Prime member and use the Pantry and Save + Subscribe programs.

I love love love Grove Collaborative! Sometimes Amazon requires to buy in bulk to get a deal if they have the product. As much as I am addicted to the Amazon, I have not done Prime Pantry (it’s too much work to inventory tetris for me). I really wished Amazon would fulfill all my needs but Amazon is not perfect and luckily Grove Collaborative came to the rescue! I also want to avoid going to Target and paying $200 for products listed. Before Grove Collection entered our life, we went to Home Depot as new homeowners to purchase what selections they had just to avoid Target (but these prices were higher). Check out Grove Collaborative here especially if you are one to avoid going in stores (because you spend too much and/or you have kids and/or just want to spend more time with your fur baby and/or all or none of the above and then some)!

Great review! I’m def going to look into a Grove Collaboration! I use Method products already, but have yet to try 7th Gen or Mrs, Myers.

Thanks LC! Grove Collaborative has all the best brands! Seventh Generation is expensive but the items I bought were on sale! I am going to make another order ahead of my monthly delivery and I will review that haul too!
