Birchbox Subscription Curated Box Review (Multifaceted and Mighty) – June 2016

Subscription: Birchbox

Cost:

Monthly $10.00

Yearly: $110.00 (you get one month free)!

What To Expect:

At least 5 items allegedly based on a profile. Sometimes you get lucky and can get 6 or 7 items. Review each item for 10 points each. Every 100 points equals $10! I hoard my points and then attempt to use codes when something strikes my fancy. My first year with Birchbox I saved up all my points and bought a Clarisonic Mia!!! I think I got it for a few bucks after points and a code!

Sit Down and Get Comfortable:

This curated box is themed “Multifaceted and Mighty”!

Translation: Awesome sauce products that multitask (ummm that are “multifaceted”) according to Birchbox. I think the mighty part was overkill. Multifaceted was enough. Less is more.

The box is very lovely and is a great angle for Marketing to get some share into the June bride season.

Davines Authentic Cleansing Nectar Hair/Body

Davines Authentic Cleansing Nectar Hair/Body

This is a lovely sized sample! And the packaging reminds me of something I would see at Anthro(pology). I have not tried it on my hair yet. I will try it when my gray roots come in and I want some squeak to my hair since clear hair poos usually are more clarifying. I tried it on my hands and I like the scent but could not place it. I googled carthame oil and it stated that it is safflower oil (which is similar if not the same as sunflower oil).

I think it smells a little like chamomile meets edelweiss with a herbly grassy teaish scent. I am not a perfume nose obviously lol.

Davines Authentic Moisturizing Butter

Davines Authentic Moisturizing Butter

I loved this so much that I put it in my Birchbox wishlist. This foil will last awhile. If it came ocean scented I would be in heaven. I will settle for the above scent (“chamedel” yes I made that mashup up from chamomile and edelweiss and I  proud of it)! Is would be perfect for layering the same scent if your into that.

The packaging on this Davines is a little too busy. OMG it was so busy I realized now that I see nips!

What really sells this product is its multifacted/multipurpose capacities. You can scoop up a schmear after a hot shower and slather it all over your body without any body parts retaliating on you. My hair really likes it and I hope it passes the honeymoon phase. My face liked it as well as my elbows, knees, and toes!

Elbows, shoulders, knees and toes…

My hair loves everything the first time for the most part. The true test is what happens after the first time.

My hair is a fickle tart.

NUXE Rêve de Miel® Facial Cleansing and Make-Up Removing Gel

NUXE Rêve de Miel® Facial Cleansing and Make-Up Removing Gel

Smells like honey. Makes me hungry. Works really well and did not leave my skin feeling stripped.

Don’t use whilst hungry as you may consume more of your caloric daily intake.

Here is a drop of that honey goodness for your viewing pleasure.

Air Repair Complexion Boosting Moisturizer

Air Repair Complexion Boosting Moisturizer

Hmmmm… I received this before and I liked it. Another upcoming cult item. What bothers me is the insert statement. And yes I did read the insert it had pretty diamond thingies on it! This product is a moisturizer and it is supposed to moisturize so its kinda off-putting to me why they also called this a mask. It is not thick enough to be one of those moisturizing masks. It is a just a plain jane moisturizer for crying out loud in my humble opinion.

Maybe I should not take inserts so literally when I am hangry.

The Beauty Crop PBJ Smoothie Stick – Raisin the Roof

The Beauty Crop PBJ Smoothie Stick – Raisin the Roof

This lippy stick is so darn cute I am stoked to have one. Smells and tastes nice but I would not go eating it. It also twists up too! I wonder how much it twists up too I only did a little and put is back down because it looks pretty much twisted up to me as is!

Maybe it is the promise of multiple frozen alcoholic drinks … Ummmm … Smooth”ie”s. Because visuals of frozen alcoholic drinks masquerading as smoothies sells lippies.

I am not sure whether the above swatch is misleading. It does not look like a dupe of my upper lip. I did not realize that my lower lip was a tad darker until I tried it on and was like ” hey my lips are the same color!”

Not only I am hangry, now I am thirsty.

LOC One and Done Shadow Stick

LOC One and Done Shadow Stick in Heavy Petal

This is my second time receiving this Shadow Stick. I gave mine to Subscriptionista as a backup and I was sure she did not need a backup of a backup so I swatched this up for you all…

I am putting this in my face/body/glitter/tattoo kit for the girls. If you smear the product it gives a nice glitter sheen without the fallout that powderized glitter products do.

I you could make the color petal heavy then this is the perfect color!

Birchbox Subscription Curated Box Review (Multifaceted and Mighty) – June 2016

Verdict:

As you know me, a person who loves spoilers, I love this curated box. I love love love the box too! Everything will be used up this time and nothing will be sent to the giveaway pile. Hopefully I will fall more in love with the multipurpose foil sample if my hair allows a relationship. It would be nice especially in a rush to take a scoop out and put it all over from head to toes and just go out the door!

With clothes of course 😉

Me too! I swear I was once cool. Eh, probably not.

Cooler than “This is the song that does not end…”

Great review. Now I’m really excited to get this box, mine was shipped today. I got Davines “Love” shampoo and conditioner in my last box and loved it, I almost bought the set, so I am really looking forward to trying their Authentic products. After your review i’m excited for the lippy too, especially because it’s NOT a gloss.

Thanks! I am hoping that we will get to sample the new Davines hand cream eventually since they discontinued the awesome one they once had!

Wow, total FOMO on this one!!!! I want all of the everythings in this box!! Except the PBJ smoothie stuff because I already got that and put it on my swap list. I’m swimming in lippy and mascaras. Though I think I have two mascaras to toss because one seems to be dead and the other melts down my face. How can you tell when mascara is done for?

    • June 9, 2016 at 8:15 pm

When one seems to be dead, or flakes, or makes your eyes itchy, or just pisses you off are signs a mascara is done for.

If it melts down your face and you like it (with the exception of the melting down your face part), use it in cooler temps and wear waterproof mascara during hot days.

Toss out mascara every three months like toothbrushes and air filters. I have an air filter delivery every 3 months on the Amazon Save & Subscribe to further remind me of doing everything at the same time. Got tons of mascara due to boxes in a subscription box. I get my toothbrushes and brush head replacements via the Amazon S&S and those are in one of the larger subscription boxes.

Yeah, I guess it was only $12 and I got it in December.

Ahhh! I used to LOVE Nuxe, but they are no longer cruelty-free. This has saddened the Cruelty-free Makeup Gods.
