Sunday Morning Coffee Talk-Comments

Well folks, my in-laws are in town. So with two tiny humans, a fur baby, and all the mess in-between things have been a little busy around these parts. I am feeling a little uninteresting right now.

3me5up

I am not sure if it is the massive amount of cheese I have eaten in the last two days or all the fresh air I got today making me a mental vegetable.

With this blank mind, I should really try to be one with the Force but I think that will be my goal for a different night.

Anyhoo, I can’t help but wonder……

What makes a post interesting?

But even more interesting than what makes a post interesting is….

What leads you to comment?

I got to thinking about comments on blog posts for several reasons. One, a lot of people mention that they lurk for awhile before commenting. Two, we recently had a box curator comment  with an impassioned  comment in response to our random post (not specifically about their box). I had to step back and think about what will motivate me to comment on other blogs. I boiled it down to content (was it a box I really like or dislike), energy level (meh, some blogs are harder to comment on than others) and connection to the writer.

So that leads me to…

What is your favorite Disney Princess?

For me, it is a tie….

Betcha on land, they understand…..

I can open your eyes…..take you wonder by wonder….

Alright, your turn. Answer all, some or none of the above questions….!!!!

Personally, I LOVE reading all of these posts, but I’m always hesitant to comment because I’m not sure my comment would be interesting enough. Also, I’m new to subscription boxes (and their reviews), so this is a learning process for me, as well.

New to subscription boxes?! We are so excited for your journey! It may lead to a 12 step program but at least we are all in it together. Thanks for reading and commenting!

I comment on sites that are more interactive… Where other people post regularly and the blogger or other readers often reply to the comments. That’s why this is my favorite blog ever! And because it’s hilarious, honest and welcoming to all. Quirks and weirdness aren’t just accepted, they’re celebrated! <3

I’m not sure which Disney princess I would be. Maybe Snow White. I sometimes sing and hum while I work. I have deer and rooster pheasants come right up to me while I’m singing or humming while working outside.

The trust and intrigue of animals is the sign of a good soul!!

If I had to pick a Disney princess I would go with Belle, love me some books. In the spirit of honesty though I’m not a fan of any of the Disney princess movies, I like my fairytales OG. I will watch the live action Beauty and the Beast (I love Emma Watson and books!). I’m curious about the live action Little Mermaid, I hear that they are sticking to the Hans Christian Andersen original so I assume there will be a lot of upset people who don’t know the whole story.

yeah, I wasn’t the girl who imagined herself as a princess either but I still to this day love the soundtracks to the movies. I agree that OG fairy tales are the best. I love how the characters get eaten or etc. I like my faires with a little bit o gangster!

I thought about the Disney Princess all morning and the only answer I can come up with is that Pipsqueak would want to be Ariel because she is/was a mermaid.

I am a huge lurker but I choose to de-lurk here at Subscriptionista because she would respond back to her commentators (and now it is one or more of us responding to our commentators). I did not like to read comments by commentators only to have no response or worse “selective”‘responses from the blogger. Since Subscriptionista has grown, I feel we do an excellent job of responding to our commentators and we actually engage each other and our commentators which makes us special and more unique than we already are.

What makes your posts interesting is the humor. The jokes are what keep me reading esp since a lot of box reviews are very bland. And they always seem to love everything they got…which makes me feel like they are faking the review. Here, ya’ll are honest reviewers and call out when something isn’t right. Blame it on the goats, that’s what I always say! lol As for Disney princesses I guess I am closest to Belle or Ariel since I like to read and am curious about a lot of things, and I am usually a loner and do my own thing.

Hi Laura, I totally agree!! I started reading Subscriptionista a year ago and I loved the sense of humor and the real reviews. Some sites definitely seem to have an “everything is awesome” policy and never find anything wrong with things.

I love this site because of the humor. What pulls me to comment on any site are nice pictures [and not too many, some food blogs go WAY overboard with 80 slightly different angles], a humorous writer, or interesting items. I also wanted to be Ariel as a kid because of her red hair [I still want red hair!!!] and Belle because she got to live in a castle with a huge library and 900 billion books!

I love all the reviewer’s writing style and sense of humor. I definitely feel like I “fit” here better than other blogs. Some of them feel an awful lot like high school cliques, and it seems as though people turn on each other quickly in the comments. Even reviewers/contributors on other sites sometimes have an almost bragging tone, or an attitude of being better than the readers.

Here though, I’ve always felt welcome, even though I lurked for a long time before commenting. Everyone has a distinct yet complementary personality too. You guys rock!
