Target Beauty Box Review – June 2016

Subscription: Target Beauty Box

Cost: Under $10 per month [not a rebilling subscription], free shipping

What to Expect: “Each month, our team of beauty experts will carefully select the products to send, and you’ll receive your beautiful box with 5 products to discover and enjoy. We strive to feature a product from a Black-owned business in each box.”

Target Beauty Boxes seem to come out every month in a time frame that is as mystical and hard to pin down, like getting a good parking spot. It is not a subscription but it does seem to come out each month. You just have to be fast enough to get in on the deal when it posts! This box costs $5, $7, or $10 and includes shipping. They also usually have a coupon with $3 off of $15 for beauty products.

This was a $10 box, and they had one for men and one for women this month! Kinda nice because dudes like stuff too. Secretly, though.

Not my boyfriend… he gets mad when I ask him to wash his face with my new cleansers or smell my new perfumes. “CHANGE GRRR!”

Sun Kissed Coupon

I used my last coupon to buy some hair products [see below], and this coupon will probably be used to subsidize my July box and another misc. item I probably need =D

uncle funkys daughter

I received a sample of this in my March Essence BeautyBox, and loved it! I loved it so much I gave the rest of my sample to my sister, and bought the full size $15 bottle for myself with this shipment.

Goodies!

Pixi Petra

Pixi Mesmerizing Mineral Duo in Apricot Glow: $12 for full palette.

pixi shadow

Ooooh, I haven’t had a light brownish shadow in a while, and these colors look nice together. One in shadow in one under the light.

Pantene Salon Shampoo

Pantene Expert Intense Hydration Shampoo: $5 for 5oz.

This makes me laugh because I got this in my Influenster Blush Vox box, and whenever I hear that Selena Gomez song I always think about her swanging her hair around.

Even though I don’t have swingy hair, I still pretend 😀

I actually really liked this! I was shocked because I figured I’d have to send it to my blonde mom because it looked like the blonde lady products she always has when I go home, blindly grab some shampoo in the shower, then get this horrid parched/coated feeling on my hair. Ugh. Anyway, not this! It left my hair feeling nice and cleansed. I haven’t purchased any new shampoo or conditioner in a long long time because I go through stuff so slowly, and my Essence box hasn’t provided me with something new and awesome. So, I guess I’m a Fantene!

Shea Moisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water weightless creme rinse

Shea Moisture Fruit Fusion Crème Rinse: $9 for 10.3oz

Shea Moisture makes a lot of nice products for black natural hair, and I’ve enjoyed almost everything I’ve purchased from them, so I look forward to this one.

Laneige Water Bank Serum

Laneige Water Bank Serum: $35 for 60ml full size

love Laneige and so does Target, apparently because it’s in every box! It makes my skin so soft, plump, and wonderful. It also has a really nice subtle smell. I’ve yet to try this product on my face, but on my hand it was a bit sticky. It has great reviews, but I am confused about serums and if you still use lotions/cremes after applying them.

Also, it has quinoa in it, so basically I’m super healthifying my skin.

SW Basics Exfoliant

S. W. Basics Exfoliant: $25 for 3oz spice shaker

I wasn’t a big fan of the smell or texture of this last time they sent it, so I’ll probably slip it into someone’s purse.

Bye, Exfolialicia!

L'Oreal True Match Liquid foundation

L’Oréal Paris True Match Cushion in Nude Beige W3: $16

I don’t recall picking a skin tone, so it seems weird to just hope everyone matches this tone they sent. Were there variations?? I think Buff Beige or Natural Tan are more my match.

L'Oreal Revitalift Volume Filler day cream

L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Volume Filler Cream: $20 for 1.7oz

This smells nicey nice! I collect / hoard skin creams because I’m turning 30 next month and I went from having zitty skin to wrinkles suddenly appearing. I’m secretly applying moisturizers day and night singing “IF I COULD TURN BACK TIIIIME!”

But, definitely in the voice of Jack from Will and Grace.

Soap and Glory Look Better Naked body butter

Soap & Glory Righteous Butter Body Butter: $15 for 10.0 oz. “Fresh scent of bergamot, mandarin, rose, jasmine, peach, strawberry, and soft musk & amber base notes.”

I love body butter, so I’ll use this! Plus, aside from rose, I love all of the scent notes listed, and it does smell amaaaazing! I may have to buy this…

Yes to Cucumbers Soothing hypoallergenic facial wipes

Yes To Cucumbers 10-Count Facial Wipes: $6 for 30

Wow, did we have wipes on our spring/summer predictions?? This is the fifth box of face/body wipes I’ve gotten in two months!! I love this brand, so I was happy to get these.

Plus they have “cucumbers, green tea, broccoli and spinach”, so I think that fulfills my daily veg requirements…

CoTZ Face Natural Tinted SPF 40 sunscreen

CoTZ Face Natural SPF 40: $20 for 1.5oz

I’ve gotten this stuff many times, and given it away every time because I don’t like the packaging. I’ll try it this time though… don’t judge a sunscreen by its jacket.

elf Lip Kiss Balm Bare Kiss

e.l.f. Lip Kiss Balm in Bare Kiss: $2

Wow! Cheaper than most chapsticks. Looks pretty, but I’m on lippie overload. I’ll slip this into someone’s purse as well.

Favorite May product: L’Oreal La Lacque! This shocked me. I didn’t think I’d use this, but I put it on almost every day and my sesstra even tried to steal it! It is creamy and goes on smoothly. I just have to make sure to look in the mirror because I tend to get a nice juice ‘stache going if I smoosh my lips without watching what I am doing.

lip stuff

Verdict: I am loving Target Beauty Box! If I could cancel the rest of my 1yr sub to Birchbox I would, because even without a “beauty profile” I find that Target sends me more usable items [and NO Harvey Prince]. I really liked this box, and I will use almost everything. My only wish is that they let you sub to this box. Waahh.

I can’t stop smelling my hand… definitely putting that body butter in my shopping cart so I’m ready to go once July’s box rolls around!
