Saturday Trash Talk

Three day weekend ya’ll!!!!!!!! Let’s party and throw some trash around. Also can we just give some props to our resident masking expert?!?  Ake! She is totally making trash talk a must read!

Without further Ado:

Hand in Hand Clean Water Collection Hand Soap – Sea Salt: I feel a little nostalgic about this one because it came in the Kloverbox/MSA summer box, and it was Subscriptionista’s review of that box that first brought me to this site. Anyway, this soap was really nice and liked the scent, but my sister LOVED it and commented on it every time she came to visit. It’s over $20 with shipping and I just can’t bring myself to pay that much for soap, but I’m keeping an eye out for deals so I can buy her some.
100% Pure Super Fruits Reparative Cream: This was a very rich cream with a very powerful fruity smell. The scent was a bit much for me, but it was nice on my extra dry cheeks.
Vichy Idéalia Skin Sleep: I read some rave reviews of this and was excited to try it, but I think the fact that I already use sleeping packs kept me from seeing miracle results. It’s just as good as (but not any better than) other sleeping packs I use. The scent is very strong and reminds me a bit of cough syrup.
Eucerin Daily Protection Moisturizing Face Lotion SPF 30: I actually got these from the dermatologist, who recommended Eucerin when I was complaining about physical sunscreens. He said it didn’t leave a white cast. Hah! No, it definitely does. But it stayed on better than last week’s sport sunscreen so I may eventually circle back to this one for exercise.
Scinic Prelab Toning Peeling Tap: This is one of a pack of individual chemical exfoliating pods. You squeeze the product out of the packet and rub the little sponge over your face. My dry, dry cheeks don’t handle the AHA and BHA that I use on my T-zone very well, so I use these from time to time over my whole face. They’re very gentle and non-drying.
Oribe Shampoo and Conditioner for Moisture and Control: I was thrilled to get this sample because I’ve heard so many good things about Oribe, and I find it both amusing and confusing that my random Birchbox mystery sample packs tend to be a better fit for me than the supposedly tailored Birchbox samples. At any rate, the effects of this were comparable to my beloved No. 4 moisturizing shampoo, which caused me to give a huge sigh of relief. The discounted cost of No. 4 on Amazon already causes my raised-on-Suave soul to cringe, and I hate to think what would happen if I needed to upgrade further to Oribe.

Etude House I Need You – Bamboo: Still like it!
Botanic Farm Natural Energy – Sea Mustard: This is actually probably my favorite of the Botanic Farm masks so far. It has a nice, thin essence that absorbs well.
Soo Ae Freeset Donkey Milk Skin Gel Mask Pack – Aqua: Now this was a *good* mask. It’s like a web of cloth with gel on it, and the gel just slowly sinks into your skin, leaving the cloth behind. I used it after chemical exfoliants dried out my poor cheeks. They were red and tight looking, but after this mask, they looked normal. I was stunned! It’s also one of the cheapest hydrogels out there. I will definitely be getting more of this one, and also of the whitening and healing varieties.
My Beauty Diary – Apple Polyphenol: This is supposed to be both hydrating and good for oily skin, so it sounded great for my patchwork face. I used it right before bed and went running early the next morning (guaranteed to turn me red and blotchy), so I can’t really speak to the results. But I have a whole box to use, so I’ll pay more attention next time and find out soon enough.

MJ’s Can:
trashBoard and Batten Calming Lift (Good Being):
So I had literally just run out of toner and this appeared in my Good Being box. This stuff is awesome!! It is a Aloe Vera and rose water so it is more hydrating than just rose water mixed with other stuff. Delightful!! I want to buy more. I have not yet though because Sub box land just provided one in the summer PSMH (review to come!)
Honey Stinger Organic Salted Caramel Waffle (Pnut box)
Holy Moly! This may be my find of the year. Pnut sent me two of these and I mistakenly opened it with the toddler in the room so I had to share. It is soooooooo ONO (hawaiian for yummy). You would think it was packed with sugar but nope only 10 grams. Which isn’t bad considering it is a pre-workout or endurance workout snack. I ate it while chasing the toddler. Yep, that is an endurance sport.
London’s Pedisoaks Foot Polish (good being):
Man oh man, I love Good Being. This stuff is awesome! It is the only oil based foot scrub I have ever tried and it is awesome. They have their own sub box and I am thinking about trying it.
14e Cosmetics Aloe Vera Foundation in Sunkissed:
Do you every feel like it is hard to know how you really look? Take this foundation. Sometimes I think this is the right shade and other times I think it makes me look purple or brown. As I have been trying natural foundations it is interesting to see how some brands tailor their shade range. This company definitely caters to the neutral/ cool/ global undertones. It is based in Aloe Vera so it feels great on. I actually have another sample so I will make a final decision at that time if I want to repurchase.

Onderria’s Trash
I’ve been saving this stuff up for weeks because I’ve been too busy/lazy to write about it!
Saturday Trash Talk
This probably works best if Target doesn’t assume your skintone. I don’t wear foundation or concealer, but I found the texture of this to be quite nice. I knew it was way too light, and my boyfriend asked me “why is your skin white?” Part of me wants to write a snarky letter to them…
Kerastase Conditioner [Birchbox]
This is from like… three years ago… I bought the $35 shampoo [and still have it], and love it. I’m savoring it, and while it makes my hair silky and wonderful, I won’t be spending that much on shampoo again and likewise will not invest in the conditioner either.
Ugh… this tea was good, but because I didn’t like anything else in the box it ended up being a $40 tin of tea.
Clairol Hair Food [Target] and Rusk Elixer Mist [Birchbox]
These are just getting donated to someone who’d use them.
Acure Day Cream [Target]
I’ve swapped for so many of these and bought one! I’ve still got one more, but I also have several other day creams to try. I love the orange spice scent, and it does a wonderful job moisturizing my oily/dry skin.
Good Night. Night Cream from Eco Beauty by La Fresh Group [Birchbox or Ipsy]
I LOVED this! It smells wonderful, the foil packaging with a screw off lid meant I could use every last bit, and 1oz lasted me three months. If I didn’t have so much night cream I’d buy this.
They’re Real [bought from Birchbox]
My favorite mascara. I kept trying to convince myself it wasn’t all gone, but my eyelashes weren’t as fabulous as they could be so I had to toss it. I picked it for my July sample choice though!!
Scandal Eyes Rockin Curves [swapped for]
Meh. The brush was too big and I kept getting mascara all over my eyelids. It wasn’t done, I just was done with it.
This may be my HG [holy grail] face cleanser. It’s inexpensive AND takes off my makeup like magic!
Midnight Monarch body butter from Camille Beckman [bought from Birchbox]
I love this stuff! Mailbox Junkie mentioned once that Camille Beckman was old lady lotion. At first I was like, well but I like it… but then I saw a display in a store and the white containers are definitely marketed toward the mature woman who likes fake tiny flowers hotglued to their lotion lid. I love all three BB scents though, and it’s my night hand cream because it’s so thick and wonderful!
I was a SKEPTIC about these at first, but they actually work! Just be careful that you don’t rip your zits open. I would buy more, but $30 for zit stickers makes me die a little.
I love these.
I liked the scent of this, but it was hard to scoop out of the container and got weirdly melty a couple months ago. Homemade I’d think, but it was nice as a winter knuckle salve.

That’s all folks!! Email if you wnat in on this: mailboxjunkie@ gmail dot com

MBJ, Beauty Heroes is selling past boxes and I was all, “Yes! Now I get that pink Mahalo mask!” And then the May box wasn’t available. Sob!

Onderria, I’m all about trying to get subscription box finds for less. I don’t know which Kerastase you’re using, but Amazon has their products for about half of what’s listed on Birchbox. And CosRx (a well respected Korean brand) has zit stickers that sell for around $5-6 that might be comparable to PTR ones.

Thanks Ake! I’ll check that out.

Ake talks poetry to me with her love of the Amazon as well 🙂

*gasps* Thank you so much! That would be amazing. I’ll ask MBJ for your email.

Sophia von Bearcat de Coronado said she is sending you a Farmancy mask… I am unsure as to how she even has them. However, I have learned to not ask too many questions…

Nice trash ladies! I need to go through my makeup stash and trash old products or things I’ll never use (I’m looking at you fake tanning products).

Re the Oribe: I received the Oribe gold shampoo and conditioner in the winter/holiday box from Net-A-Porter and I liked it but nowhere near enough to shell out cash for it.

Such comforting words because I have always dreamed of trying the Oribe because I loved the smell of their texturizing spray so much

Ake: I keep remembering Subscriptionista’s review of Hand In Hand clean soap in that she wondered what the dirty clean soap would be like or something like that lol.
MJ: I am so stoked that I won the award for best subscription box find! Got ONO status yea! I can see this being a staple in your Amazon S&S orders now 😉
Onderria: That Camille Beckman packaging definately looks more modern then the sample BB gave which had the hot glued flower on it!
