Saturday Trash Talk

S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y morning! Let’s bust out the trash!!

Can we all just give Ake a hand for making trash talk way more interesting than I ever could because she is just that awesome with her masking ways?!! This week she does not disappoint!

Etude House I Need You – Coenzyme Q10: Hello again.
Bonvivant Botanical Mask Pack – Sodium Hyaluronate + Lotus: I’m not noticing any drastic differences between most of these masks so far. But this one was nice too.
LLang On The Skin Sheet Mask – Seaweed: This was a new brand for me and couldn’t find any English reviews, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. The essence was creamy and absorbed well, and the mask fit was standard enough. I wouldn’t pay $4 for one, but for the sale price of $1 I’m quite happy.

Homemade Body Lotion with Vitamin E: This was a lovely homemade Christmas present and I enjoyed every last bit of it.
Scinic PreLab Toning Tap: Another week, another tap.
100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream: How do people ever use up full size bottles of eye cream? I admit that I didn’t use this every day and I’ve been distracted by various samples, so when I realized I’d had it open for going on two years, I started using it on the driest parts of my face as well. And it still took me forever to finish! It’s a very nice eye/dry spot cream though, and I like the scent.
Harvey Prince Hello Shampoo and Conditioner: I did not anticipate liking these at all, but they were actually quite nice! The scent was very mild and they left my hair feeling soft and clean.
Mahalo Skincare The Petal Mask: O. M. G. After reading MBJ’s review of this I was interested, but I saw the prices and fainted. Dayle was incredibly generous and sent me her sample from Beauty Heroes so I could try it. Thank you, Dayle! And it was distressingly good. Distressing because this is definitely not in my budget, but it really worked well. I used it every evening for a week, all over my face. It has a bouncy, gloopy consistency that I wasn’t expecting and dried down to a slightly tacky finish. Since it’s a moisturizing mask I didn’t feel bad when I got wrapped up in my work and forgot about it for an hour or two, but if I was in a rush I could wash it off after just 10 minutes. Perfect. The first couple of days I wasn’t too impressed. I mean, it wasn’t bad, but it just wasn’t anything special. I have extremely dry cheeks, so that’s where I focus my hydrating efforts, and I really didn’t see any changes. But on day three I noticed that the skin on my forehead was looking pretty good. I have lots of little bumps there and the start of some deep wrinkles, but I can’t use many hydrating or moisturizing products or I turn into a shiny grease ball with clogged pores. But after this mask my skin was looking smooth and hydrated without being greasy. Best texture I’ve seen since childhood. And you know what else? I actually got that “glow” that people always talk about rather than just shininess. My skin was almost luminous! A few days later I caught a glimpse of myself in a dressing room mirror. Usually I cringe when I see my skin under florescent lights, but I actually looked okay! I didn’t want to put a sheet mask on after this, but when I had time to use one in the morning, I looked even better. I realize that this is a very long rave, but this product is ever so rave worthy. I am currently doing budget gymnastics and stalking Mahalo’s social media in hopes of some form of sale. I must have this on my face again!

Dayle’s Vacation Trash!!!

Vacation is almost gone and so are these products.  Vacation memories will be stored in my mind, these containers will go to a landfill somewhere in Northwest Wisconsin!

Thanks to Ake, I decided that I needed to jump on the sheet mask train.  I tried the SpaLife three-step anti-aging and hydrating Hyaluronic Acid mask.  First I put on a thick moisturizing cream and let it soak in for 2 minutes.  Then I wore the sheet mask for 30 minutes and finally followed up with a serum.  I can honestly say that my almost 50 year old face looked lovely and hydrated when I was done!   It lasted for a full 24 hours too!  Luckily this came in a three pack so I can repeat.  Most of the ingredients in this mask were acceptable to me.  (I bought this at TJ Maxx)

Stop The Water While Using Me! Toothpaste.  I bought this just because I liked the name.  The toothpaste itself was ok. It made me think of when people used to brush with baking soda maybe?  I would buy it again.

Sunday Riley mask/serum. I am on board with whoever else didn’t really get this.  It was ok and I used it freely this week because, while I know I should not worship the sun, the fact that I grew up a “lake kid” makes it impossible for me to be at the lake and not spend as much time in the sun as possible.  Would not bother with this stuff again though.

Osmia Rose Nectar oil. There is actually still a few uses, but I wanted to get the picture so I will be finishing this in the next few days.  I actually had received several of these. It is a nice oil, the scent just isn’t for me, it smelled like bad breath in my opinion?  Hmmmm. I do love Osmia products overall though…

Kat Von D tattoo liner.  This is my go to travel liner so that I do not have to bring my gel liner brush.  It is pretty easy to put on, lasts quite well and works for a no makeup look.  I also included a picture of a cat that I drew.  More than anything, I have wanted to get in on the eyeliner cat art since I have been reading this blog!  😻
Deep Steep Fresh Honey body butter. Another go with me travel item. I love the packaging and a little goes a very long way with this stuff.  It does have a slight floral smell which I don’t always love but it is mild.  Another fabulous Deep Steep product!

Tarte guard SPF 30 facial moisturizer.  This worked very well for as much as I was in the sun!  I was religious about putting on my sunscreen and I definitely think it helped!

Juice Beauty cleansing milk.  I paired this with my Kari Gran cleansing oil. It worked.

Juice Beauty Green Apple Brightening moisturizer with SPF. Another! Juice Beauty sample!  It seems like every box I get has at least one. Is Juice Beauty the Harvey Prince of skin care?  I never have any complaints about Juice Beauty. It does what it is supposed to do.  Wait, one complaint about Juice Beauty…the samples always appear to be deluxe sized, but I swear they are only half full!  Has anyone else noticed that?

Well, that is all the trash that is fit to print for my vacation version of trash Saturday!

I am so happy that you loved the Mahalo Ake! Who knew you had to use it every day! I definitely think you should consider Beauty Heroes, I get so many products that I could never justify paying full price without knowing for sure that it works and is worth it to me. An amazing review!

Kitty drawings are my go to scratch when I am in a meeting! It was fun to try my eyeliner kitty!

Thank you again for sending it to me! I’ve been cutting back on boxes, but I’ll have to give Beauty Heroes another look.

Anyway, I love your cat! And I’m super impressed that you took photos and wrote reviews on vacation. That’s serious dedication to Trash Talk.

Nice reviews. I feel the same way about Sunday Riley products, I’m happy to try their products but I’m usually underwhelmed and I think the stuff is crazy expensive. I do want to try that Mahalo mask.

Ake, I also have that eye cream and have been wondering how long it lasts! Holy spinnoli. Every day I’m like, okay I guess there’s still MORE in there after 6 months… Eye cream is good for the eyes AND the wallet, heh.

Dayle, I love your kitty sketch!

Speaking of kitties, while I’ve been at my desk catching up on blog stuff [instead of homework], my cat decided it was time I got a cat hair beard, so after rubbing herself on me and tapping her tail on my face, I’m now quite furry. Cat love for sure.

    Kitty Swatch <3!!!

I need to look into those Mahalo samples you know how obsessed I am about Hawaii!

That Sunday Riley started to sting ma face. I am sure it was something else that I am using that the peel part made sting so I am using it on dry spots randomly found and peace in the jungle was made. I love the Tarte sunscreen sample *sucker for pumps*

    Lovely trash ladies!
