Sheet Masks

Etude House I Need You – Royal Jelly: I didn’t realize until I took this photo that I totally had a green theme going on in my sheet masks this week! I’m going to pretend that this is the mugwort version instead.

Etude House I Need You – Bamboo: See? Green.

Tosowoong Pure Aloe: This was a gift from Subscriptionista and was great after a long morning in the sun.

Sure Medic Vita Collagen: The perfume smell on this one was unpleasantly strong, but it worked well.

Tony Moly I’m Real – Broccoli Vitality: Another Subscriptionista gift! I’d never used a Tony Moly product before and it was pretty good. I like watery essences and this was the thinnest I’ve ever encountered.

Others

Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion: I liked the idea of this, but it never seemed very moisturizing. Maybe I rinsed too thoroughly, but it’s hard to get out of the shower feeling like there’s still something left on your skin.

Desert Essence Deodorant: This one isn’t from a subscription box, but I know I’m not the only one looking for a good natural deodorant. The tea tree oil in this is supposed to keep odors at bay and looking at reviews for this, most people seem to love it or hate it. Unfortunately, I’m the latter. It did nothing for me.

Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence: This is still the best face sunscreen I know.

Nivea Sun Protect Super Water Gel: This is almost exactly like the Biore, but it’s only PA+++ (the Biore is ++++) and it a bit cheaper. I use it for my body as an everyday sunscreen when I don’t anticipate sweating. It’s great for work and I love it and will keep it

And now Dayle!

dayle

I have two separate trash tales this week, one devoted exclusively to my masking experiment. I have a newfound respect for Ake because masking is HARD work! 😷 sorry but this is the best mask emoji I could find!

Thursday and Friday Mahalo The Petal Mask -Apply 10-20 minutes to brighten, revitalize and tone and give skin a smooth texture.  Also promises to deeply hydrate for a plump glowing appearance. Aroma of sweet floral layered with notes of rose, vanilla, jasmine and ylang ylang. This worked as promised.  Effects lasted a full 24 hours.

Saturday- Andalou Naturals Instant Lift and Firm Hydro serum sheet mask.(20 minutes) This is enriched with Resveratol which is also found in Red wine so I felt confident that my bottle of red that I drank on Friday night made this mask even more effective!  This mask is supposed to hydrate, lift, firm and fade dark spots. I am no sheet mask expert, but this seemed to be a little stiffer than other masks and did start to itch a bit so I took it off early. My skin did seem hydrated though.

Sunday- Spa Life Hyaluronic Acid Anti aging and Hydrating 3 step sheet mask (20 minutes). This was my second go around for this mask and I like it!  I can definitely attest to my skin being more hydrated and plump. The mask was very generous and soft. I am not 100% clear on the ingredients, so not sure if I will buy again, the box had 3 masks in it so I will use at least one more for sure.

Monday -Pacific (now True Botanicals?) Resurfacing Moisture mask.  Massage onto clean skin (2-5 minutes). First I love a 2-5 minute mask!  This can be used 1-2 times per week in the evening avoid sunlight after use. This mask uses lactic acid to exfoliate for anti-aging effect. This mask smells heavenly!  (Tuberose). You can really feel it work which is why the 2-5 minutes is recommended.  This leaves my skin SO smooth and is one of my favorite all time sub box discoveries. (Beauty Heroes)

Tuesday – Laurel Honey Berry Enzyme Mask – mix with a few drops of warm water (10-15 minutes). This mask smells and tastes awesome. I got some on my lips by accident because it is STICKY!  The mask features Royal jelly, a bee secretion known for its anti-aging abilities. It is also high in Vitamin B considered a SUPER antioxidant!  So this mask promises to cleanse, nutrify(?), hydrate, plump and also help control breakouts.  My face did sweat a bit as the honey is thick, but MAN did my face plump and look young!  Seriously guys, this is a game changer!  Especially before your next class reunion!

Wednesday- Spa Life Collage 3 step sheet mask. I like this ok, not as much as the other spa life and took it off before 20 minutes were up.  My masking patience was nearing its end!

Thursday- Bliss Triple Ixygen Instant Energizing Foaming Mask!  That is a whole lot of words!  (5 minutes time I think). This mask goes on as a gel and then bubbles. It says that it will clarify, protect and revitalize. It kind of felt like I rubbed baking soda on my face and then poured vinegar on it..but no vinegar smell!  It was a nice quick mask and I think I saw some benefit, but at this point I can’t be sure anymore!

Friday!  Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask (not pictured).  First, after reading prior reviews on this website, I was not expecting to see any black balls rolling down my face, and I did not.  This mask was ok, probably my 4th favorite of the non-sheet masks that I tried.   I will give it another try in a few weeks though because really is your 8th glass of wine ever as good as the first few?

So, my week of masking was fun, my family put up with it as we watched the Olympics, and I got to throw away a bunch of product that had built up in my stash.  Maybe every four years, like the Olympic Games l, I will do this again.  Maybe

This week I resolved to diminish my stash pile,  and I succeeded!

Pacific Face Oil, I got this with the Pacific resurfacing mask. It is a nice oil and I used it specifically after using the mask.

Josie Maran argan oil Milk. This is very milky and thick. I mostly use it under a balm in the winter when we are out for hours in the cold Iowa wind. It works well.

Osmia Purely Simple Face Cream– this is a Fantastic simple face cream!  Think Clinique dramatically different for grownups and natural too!

Bare Minerals Mineral elixirs eye nourishing oil balm. Seriously I bought a different eye product to try in April! when I though this would be gone soon. 4 months later, seems to be a theme around here!  I used this only at night because it is a balm. I think it did the job it was paid to do.

EO All Natural Body Lotion. I included this just because I wanted to show that you can get a Good, natural body lotion for a good price!  This big jug was less than $13 I think.

One Love Organics-gardenia Tea body oil. This one made me so sad to finish.  This one won my Daylie award for Most awesome oil ever, Most likely to repurchase, Best summertime after shower oil and Best oil delivery method. This oil changed my life.

Red Flower purifying body wash – ocean. This was a fresh scent and a nice size for my gym bag.  I am not sure if I would repurchase.

Board and Batten Farm to Skin Regenerating Steam. I love Facial steams.  This one I may have kept too long prior to using, but I did still get a nice result. There was also a little bottle of facial oil to use with it.

Nude Advanced Renewal moisturizer. I bought this when I was first getting in to the natural makeup scene and I didn’t know much. This jar is more than half full. I have learned that I need to do more research before silly nilly buying a full jar of anything!

Kari Gran Cleansing Oil and Facial toner. These were amazing products. I would still choose in Fiore cleansing oil as my favorite, but this is a good, lower priced alternative.

American Botanics Super C+ Skin Perfecting tonic with brightening complex.  These came in the form of skinny little pads and I think they worked as well as any brightening tonic I have used.  I loved the little pads, they just seemed to work and I felt like they lasted longer than a bottle would. I will buy this again!

EO deodorant wipes. I like these for after my noon Yoga class. I don’t usually sweat enough for a full shower, but it is nice to freshen up.

Kahina Brightening serum. I love Kahina brand.

Korres Greek Yoghurt foaming face cleanser.  This was a free sample. It had sulfates.

Benefit Roller Lash – I can’t quit you Benefit Roller Lash!  I really want to, but you make my eye lashes curly, and long, and you make each lash feel special, like you like them,  you really, really like them! So I am going to leave you for a while, but I’ll Be Back!

Such great trash ladies! Ake, my current natural deodorant fav is Schmidts. They have a baking soda version and a sensitive skin version. For the amt of running you do you might like the baking soda version but they both work extremely well. I am not sure if you have encountered this but a lot of people develop sensitivities to baking soda in the pits. The sensitive skin formula is baking soda free and uses magnesium as the base.

Dayle, trash olympics! I wish I could serve you both up a sample of the biodara face mask that came in Boxwalla to see your thoughts. It is by far the best detox mask I have ever tried!!

I am currently using Schmidts Bergamot and Lime. It does leave white streaks if it touches your clothes. The Lavanilla did not. But it works pretty well and smells amazing!

Wow, Dayle. I’m so impressed by your masking. Aside from the Mahalo mask which had the 10 minute time, I don’t think I’ve ever managed to mask every single day for a straight week! You rock.

I like to set tough goals for myself. Ha! It was good to really compare and pay more attention to what I liked and didn’t like. I think I will try to keep up 2-3 times per week with hydrating and exfoliating though. Thanks!
