Ipsy Subscription Review – September 2016

Cost: $10/month

Why Ipsy? Ipsy is one of the more affordable beauty subscriptions. People enjoy receiving Ipsy because you get 5 beauty samples (the samples received are usually makeup, and if you are lucky you may get a full size item every once in a while). Ipsy also sends out brushes, which is amazing. What makes Ipsy unique is the fact that each month you will receive a “Glam bag” with your products which is super cute.

Here it is, the September Ipsy Glambag.

Each Ipsy Glambag always ships in a pretty pink foil mailer and contains a card describing the theme for the bag.

The theme for the Ipsy September Glambag is “Glamazon”

When I saw the preview for this bag on my Ipsy account I was pretty bummed because I did not think the bag was pretty at all, but once I received it I honestly liked the material and the fact that the gold accents make the bag stand out. Makes it look very glam like its theme.

Let’s see what is actually inside this month’s bag…

Here are the five beauty products I received this month. At first glance this might look like a great bag, but for me it was a fail.

Now let’s take a closer look at each product in the bag.

AveneHydrating Serum (Full Size $38 1.01oz), size included 0.1oz sample

This cream is supposed to provide a high level of hydration to your skin. The product itself is new to me. I always enjoy receiving skin care items in my subscription boxes, so I am pretty sure I am going to like it.

Bellapierre – Mineral Blush in Autumn Glow, Full size $20

I am unsure of the true value of this item, the value stated above is based of a 4g size blush. The size received in the Ipsy bag is a 6g blush so the value may be slightly higher but I do not think by much. I was not too excited about receiving a blush because I already have so many. However, after doing a swatch I think I will be able to use it. It is more like a bronzer type of shade than a blush.

Too Faced – Lip Injection (Full Size $28 .14oz) Size included .05 oz Sample

I tried lip injection from Too Faced before when I received it as a sample for purchasing some items through the Too Faced web site. I have to say that when I saw I was receiving it I was completely disappointed. I hate this product because it doesn’t give my lips a tingling sensation, it was more of a burning sensation. I also already have full lips so I have no need for this. Anybody want it? LOL

Be a Bombshell – Nail Polish, Full size $14

It was extremely difficult for me to decide which picture to post because I felt none of the photos captured what the nail polish actually looks like, even in daylight. So this is the best I could get. I really do not like the fact that Ipsy included a big bottle of polish. To me it felt like Ipsy tried to include a filler item to make the value of the bag higher. I was completely dissatisfied. Thumbs down for me on this one.

To Go Spa – Under Eye Treatment, Full size $12

Honestly I think this was the only really great item in the bag this month. I am really excited to try these under eye treatments. I suffer from dark circles so it is perfect for my skin needs. I have a feeling that this is going to feel very refreshing and best of all, it comes with three.

To me this months bag was disappointing. Given the fact that it is September and a new season is on the horizon I was expecting Ipsy to really do better. The value of the bag was more than $10, however the items this month were not exciting (except for the eye treatments).

What did you guys think of your months bag? Is it everything that you hoped for? Share below! I love reading your comments.
