Birchbox Subscription Review – September 2016

Subscription: Birchbox

Cost: $10/month, with chance to review one box per year starting July 11th

What to Expect: 5 beauty samples

Wow, as I was copy and pasting my format from August, I noticed I used none of the items from that box! Sheesh. THIS box is a completely different story, however! I almost forgot about it on my messy desk, but then uncovered it and was like “I LOVE THIS!!”

Let’s see what I luuurved…

Birchbox September 2016

Aww… Birchbox <3 my money =)

Birchbox September 2016The Box: Multitaskers

Nice box, as always!

Ooer! A contest.

Birchbox September 2016

Balance Me Radiance Face Mask: $34 for 2.5oz [0.5oz sample]. “Suitable for all skin types, the clay-based formula cleanses, exfoliates, and brightens skin, leaving your complexion softer and more radiant.”

Birchbox September 2016

Davines MOMO Shampoo and Conditioner for Dry or Dehydrated Hair: $26 and $30 for 8.45oz. “Davines works with Slow Food Presidia to source farm-grown ingredients from rare breeds of plants, in turn preventing their extinction. Containing Cartucciaru melon from Paceco, Sicily.”

That’s right, I’ll be putting melon in my hair! This smells really nice, and I’m almost done with my last Davines sample, which smells heavily of fabric softener.

Birchbox September 2016

Helmut Lang Cuiron: $165 for 100oz. “Developed for modern men and women, this clean spin on a leather fragrance first awakens the senses with uplifting citrus and spiced plum notes. Meanwhile, faint musk and woodsy balsamic notes can hold their own from day to night.”

Surprisingly, I won’t be purchasing this item… However, it smells wonderful! Very unisex and sexy. It’s definitely a musk, spice, woodsy balsalmic… it’s like a sexy leather briefcased person who walks by, and you just close your eyes, inhale, and sort of get swept away in a fantasy of… well… whatever you fantasize about 😉

I’m a fan of wearing men’s cologne. It really confuses men because they’re like, “whoa you smell amazing, but why?” Also, I can’t stop smelling my arm where I sprayed it…

Birchbox September 2016

“MOM WHAT ARE YOU DOING OUTSIDE!?!?”

She was running around in the window meowing loudly… she’s standing on the table by the door in this picture. It drives her nuts when I go outside.

Birchbox September 2016

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish™ Hot Cloth Cleanser: $25 for 3.3oz. Summary: “major cult following… remove all traces of dirt, grime, and makeup … sweeps away dulling dead skin cells for a gorg glow… cocoa butter… eucalyptus essential oil and rosemary.”

I’ll use this. After I make a dent in my 900 other cleansers! Actually, probably after my current Burt’s Bees one. Oh, and do you see that?? A CULT following! Better start doing the Time Warp!

That’s what I think of when I hear cult following… Yes, I will watch the new show/movie/whatever.

And then a step to the right…

Birchbox September 2016

Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek in Perk (Coral): $24 for 1oz [0.1oz sample]. “Hydrating ingredients like mango butter, peach nectar, and avocado oils.”

I haven’t tried this on my lips/cheeks yet, but the color looks purdy on my arm! The swatch on the right is one pass and the left is three passes so you can see how it builds.

Favorite August product: Well, I actually didn’t personally like any of the August products! However, I gave the Oribe beach wave spray to a coworker with gorgeous red thick wavy hair, and she put it in one day and not only did she look fantastic, but she smelled great as well!! So, beach spray is pretty great if you’ve got the hair for it =)

Verdict: This box was rockin’! I will use everything, and I will hoard the heck out of my Helmut Lang cologne. I’ll probably tromp around like a slender, tall, sexy European model whilst wearing it. But, I’ll still look like Tina Belcher pretending to be a horse

What do you clean your face with? Let us know!

…but it’s the pelvic thrust, that really drives you insane… I would like to try the Milk lip and cheek!

    Damnit, Janet!

Dayle, I just tried the Milk tint today and I liked it on my cheeks but it didn’t really look good on my lips. My lips are purpley red and look best in darker shades or reds. I do suggest trying it though.

Let’s do the Time Warp again!!! Great review.

I got the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish in August and haven’t tried it yet but I’ve been waiting over a 1.5 years for Birchbox to send it to me! Super excited to try!

I just got my Sept box today – had the Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask which was my choice and hope I like it. Also got Madison Reed color enhancing shampoo & conditioner (I do appreciate a coordinating set) which I think I’ll wait to try after my stylist does a purple glaze in my hair at the end of this month. 🙂

Hi Onderria. My comment doesn’t have to do with birchbox but when I saw that there is a short story advent calendar it made me think of you. 24 short stories that are mostly pg-13. They ship them out I think at the end of October.

I saw that, Farmcat!! I was tempted, but also I am trying not to buy more books… or craft supplies… it’s not going well though, so I might as well 😉 Are you getting an advent calendar??

I have seen a few different advent calendars I’m interested in but it just not in the budget. But I still like to browse to see what different advent calendars are out there.
