Ipsy Subscription Review – October 2016

Subscription Box: Ipsy

Cost: $10/month

Why Ipsy? Ipsy is one of the more affordable beauty subscriptions. People enjoy receiving Ipsy because you get 5 beauty samples (the samples received are usually makeup, and if you are lucky you may get a full size item every once in a while). Ipsy also sends out brushes, which is amazing. What makes Ipsy unique is the fact that each month you will receive a “Glam bag” with your products which is super cute.

Here it is, the October Ipsy Glambag.

Each Ipsy Glambag always ships in a pretty pink foil mailer and contains a card describing the theme for the bag.

The theme for the Ipsy October Glambag is “Black Magic”, I think this bag is super super cute!!! What do you guys think?

Let’s see what is actually inside this month’s bag…

The products in this month’s bag look really exciting as compared to last month’s. I haven’t tried any of these products so lets see what they have to offer.

Now let’s take a closer look at each product in the bag.

Make Up Forever – Ultra HD Foundation (Full size $30, size received: sample)

I was so happy to see that I was getting this foundation in my bag. Even though we only received a sample size item, at least I say I got to try it before spending money on it. I have seen really good things and reviews about this foundation and I will be wearing it until I am out. According to the product description this is a very light weight foundation so… woohoo!

Preventive Measures 101 – After Hours Lip Balm, Full Size $13

This lip balm is supposed to renew your lips. It relieves the cracks and provides a great amount of moisture. I think the fact that they included it in the bag is great because fall is here and as soon as winter hits, my lips will be really chapped. I am excited to try it and I will probably begin using it nightly once my current nightly lip balm runs out.

Sally’s Box– Aqua Moist Gel Cream (Full size: $43, size received: sample)

This cream does exactly what the name states, it moisturizes. It is supposed to provide deep hydration and I have to say that it smells really really nice. According to the product information provided on the Ipsy website this gel cream contains flower water from Provence roses which I believe is what makes it smell so good. I tried it on my face and I did feel a bit of a cooling sensation.

Noya – Natural Lipstick in Smoke (Full size $18, size received: sample)

The Noya lipstick received in the Ipsy glam bags was a sample size. At the beginning I was a bit disappointed that it was small, but then I thought, I have so many lipsticks why am I sad? With that said, there were two variations, you either received the shade Currant or Smoke. The shade pictured is “Smoke.” It does not look too bad on my lips, I am thinking to wear it any time I use a heavy smokey eye or those times where I just don’t want to look like a clown. Shade is perfect for fall, although I know depending on your skin tone this shade might not suit you the best. Depends on your style and skin tone.

NYX – Liner in Liquid Gunmetal, Full size $7

Even though I am not absolutely thrilled about this shade of liner received, I am excited to try it. I mean Halloween and the holidays are coming so it might be a good time to be adventurous and pop this liner on. I typically wear black eyeliner, so this one is definitely out of my comfort zone.

This month’s bag was definitely a thumbs up for me. Last month’s bag was so disappointing that I was skeptical about this month. I love the details of the bag and that the items were curated to suit the season.

What did you guys think of your months bag? Is it everything that you hoped for? Share below! I love reading your comments.

    Yea Boxkraze for posting!!!

There must be some anti-blogging flu at Subscriptionista that you came out from. I need to get better… Ugh… I got a bunch of subscription boxes UNOPENED. In my defense, I have a bit more than I can chew but I am kinda excited it was like christmas this afternoon when my husband brought a ton of packages home 🙂

I’m glad this bag was better for you! I love the addition of the netting to the pictures.

Last week before I left for my conference I got 5 boxes, and I’ll be editing and posting soon, Pnut!

That’s exciting! I am just literally exhausted today. No naps.

Plus too much going on and I missed out on the Target Baby Box.

Hopefully tomorrow will be a motivating day…

I agree this bag was way better than last month’s. I too received the MUFE. But it just didn’t work for me. The coverage was not buildable enough for me. And it separated after a few hours. I got the essence liner and it’s very smudge proof, but the product is not in the tip of liner overall I was very satisfied with this month’s bag!!

We got basically the same bag!!! LOL I love your pics and nails. I am seriously gaga for peoples nice hands. (I have a jacked up hand and shall never be a paw model but #goals for my next life right?) They sent me too dark of a color for foundation. Not sure why they would send someone fair the same color but I am sure I can send it to someone!

Thats crazy I mean why don’t they follow beauty profiles.

      • October 23, 2016 at 12:49 pm

I need to check to see if I made a mistake but either way, I find it tough to get a proper match. I always secretly want darker skin and am never happy with true foundation. It always looks like a mask to me! I like BB cream and sometimes Bare Minerals powder. Where I don’t feel too covered up. I like to pretend I am not super pale pink!

Did anyone else smell the noyah lipstick packaging? It smelled wonderful to me and initially thought the sample was a fragrance until I opened it. Did anyone else smell this and was there a fragrance sample that maybe didn’t come in my bag? Does anyone know what scent this is or know any comparables. Thanks in advance!

Hehe I did not smell it but I am sure you are right. I mean I usually smell products because I am curious but I did not for this bag.
