Merkaela is a subscription that wants to assist you, yes you right here reading this, toward your journey towards a better life of balance. Each product they send is created to help your connection to nature. I think the last time I connected with nature was when a bird pooped on my arm, so I can dig any connection that doesn’t involve that.
This seasons collection is called AWAKEN. Which if I yelled in your ear as the sun rose you most surely would. Reflecting and turning over a new leaf is the aim of these products so that subscribers can form their own healthy rituals for self-care.
Merkaela keeps their products All-Natural, without chemicals or anything that will bring you down. I can credit you ladies for helping me learn about and appreciate natural products both for how well they work, but also for their benefits. I can’t say for sure that they will help me stay healthy but I can say that the peace of mind is a nice thing. Plus I don’t get weird allergic rashes, which I believe will never be in style. I also can credit you ladies with opening my eyes to the fun of taking time for myself to really enjoy my own spa time. After all, I don’t have to worry about what I will tip at home!
Cost: $48 per box quarterly or $44 per box annually
You can skip or cancel at any time
Right away when I opened this box I could smell a scent that was relaxing and like a boutique spa. I mean wow! I couldn’t wait to delve in but made sure to take pics of the box because it really is very nicely put together. I think because I get what most would call an obscene amount of subscriptions that I now really notice the little touches that curators put into what they send out. Often times it is when these things are overlooked that I start to worry about the subscription itself. However, here you can see the nice touches!
Elevate Soap: I love how fresh and full of energy this soap smells! I also like that it has a lot of kick butt oils for my dry skin. I find that around this time as the weather turns my skin gets even more dry. I have to be careful to make sure my skin doesn’t look like it has been snowing outside!
Essential oils always raise the question of the idea of non essential oils and those oils feel about that. Not great I would assume.
Awaken Body Butter: They say to use this to start each day to support my spiritual practice. Since my morning bliss is waking up to a cat butt in my face I think I will use this lush cream after said cat puts said butt in my face.
Will be nice to get calm for the morning rush… where I nearly lose my mind.
Awaken Body Exfoliator: This is one of my favorite exfoliators I have ever tried! I wonder if it is the grain of the sugar or the turmeric in it. It just left my skin super soft after using it. A little goes a long way, so this should last me awhile and then I will have to get my hands on more. I love smelling like cinnamon and feeling like I am smooth.
Even if I didn’t shave my legs! 😉
Awaken Mineral Bath: Remember being a kid and being made to take a bath? I do. I was a dirty little kid who would have to get thrown into the bath like a dog. I think my parents would have sprayed me down with a hose in the yard if they could! I just loved playing in the dirt and even now I think my best cooking had to have been my mud pies.
Funny how now a nice bath is such a luxury. To take the time out for yourself to really make a nice bath and sit and relax is a little pleasure I should indulge in more. With this beautiful bath mixture I have no excuse! it is filled with herbs, salt crystals, and minerals. Basically a bath salad of goodness worth making time for!
I swear when I first saw this I thought it was something to eat!
Awaken Elixir: This elixir is to be rubbed on your hands and breathed in as you relax. The ingredient are said to help the immune system. Relaxing also helps the immune system! I am one of those people who love to huff good smells, so this is perfect for those of us who don’t mind being caught with our hands to our faces sniffing and affirming our good intentions. Now, if that is not you, then lock the door silly!
‘Awaken Elixir’ sounds like something you would give to Sleeping Beauty! “Awaken Beauty it is your turn to do the dishes!”
Awaken Tea Potion: Oh man this has Chai! Score!!! This is perfect for an midday sip. Though I would also say putting milk with it makes a great after dinner treat for when you have a sweet tooth but want to fit into your little black dress!
Nutmeg is also an ingredient and I swear all good things have nutmeg!
Awaken Facemask: YAY for a hydrating face mask! While this is a little small, a mask only take a dimes worth of powder and double the amount of water. They included a couple mixing spatulas which was thoughtful. You leave it on around 10 mins and wash off. Easy peasy!
Is it weird that I feel strangely proud when I mix my own mask? Like I actually made it or something?
Chakra Meditation Candle: What?!? Another item you ladies (especially Pnut and Sub Bella) got me far more into is candles! Before I would just light them if I was trying to create a mood and at the same time hide my messy apartment! This candle is ideal for meditation and is intended to balance your Crown Chakra.
No I don’t know much about Chakra’s and had ZERO idea as to what a Crown one would even be. So I did what any super learned blogger who likes to learn does… I searched for it on the internet.
Here is what I found:
The crown chakra is the center for trust, devotion, inspiration, happiness, and positivity. It’s also the center for deeper connection with ourselves and deeper connection with a force of life that is greater than ourselves. –http://www.mindbodygreen.com/
I can dig it. Lately I have been in a rut and also suffering writers block so a little mindfulness on these matters should do me a world of good!
Palo Santo: This purifies the air of harmful bacteria! My job means I am around all sorts of people every day, and it is around this time of year I really start to side eye everyone. Anyway, obviously this is meant for home use but it makes me happy to just sort of have around. Like a good luck charm.
I want to pull this out on an elevator and sort of clutch it waiting for someone to look a little under the weather just for luck…
Amethyst Bracelet: As many of you may know if you read these reviews, amethyst is a very meaningful stone to me. My father would always buy me amethyst jewelry and clothing of the same color. It was our special thing and it touched my heart to see this simple, wearable bracelet looking up at me!
I can wear it to continue to awaken all the good memories of my dad and his love of life!
Verdict: Merkaela curated an outstanding Fall box! I am blown away! The products are the real deal. They were high quality and really worked together to make my bathroom into a spa and not just somewhere I hide when it is time to vacuum. This box would make for an outstanding gift because it is packaged so well and really has some of the best curation I have come across for one of these boxes in a long lonnnng, super super long time! I dig how it has a spiritual tint, while at the same time doesn’t beat me over the head with it. Which I doubt they would ever do, as actually I am pretty sure these ladies are pretty relaxed most of the time! Still, the thought and detail that was put into this makes me miss when subscription boxes were about the labor of love and not about shoving junk into and claiming outrageous RV’s. Truly a spa in a box with products that have great chic looking packaging and quality ingredients to back it up.
