Please check out the March post to see an in-depth look at how you fill out your Art Crate profile.

I last reviewed a box in March, and then got this box in uh, aherm… errr… June… coughcough… and it sat unopened for a few months until Art Crate sent me a survey link asking me for feedback and promising an 8×10 print. I took them up on the offer, and when my selected piece showed up I figured I ought to open up my last piece as well and check them out!

I am always envious of the cool prints people get in boxes, and I’m slowly building my art collection, so I decided to sign up for an art subscription!

Before getting started, here’s the pricing and size guidelines so you know what size of print to expect. I went for a medium print at $32/month, and some awesome person used my code for $15 off for both of us, so I paid $17 this month.

NOTE: They seem to have vastly increased their pricing, which is super disappointing. The prices for s/m/l went from $22/32/49 to $39/49/69. This seems pretty outrageous to me since http://Society6.com has a lot of the same art for cheaper than the original ArtCrate pricing, and now ArtCrate has increased pricing by 50-70%!! In fact, if you check out this comparable Society6 print, the large goes for $35 which is cheaper than the ArtCrate small.

Did I do my maths right there?

After completing your survey and signing up, on the 15th of the month your art curator contacts you to let you pick between three options. These were my three options:

A. lady face

B. planetary

C. kiss collage

NeverForever from Frank Moth

I went for the kiss collage by Frank Moth! You can check out this HuffPo article about the duo behind Frank Moth, and a lot of their cool pieces.

Musicolor by Frank Roth

I hadn’t realized this was also a Frank Roth print until I was perusing his Tumblr! After taking a site survey they sent me this print as a thank you. I really like it!

artcratecode

Not sure if they still allow art codes with their price increase, but I’ll post this just in case. Also, I hope those of you who’ve ordered something share what you got! Share it on Instagram or email us.

Verdict: This was my last last last print from ArtCrate to be sure… the price jump is ridiculous and I couldn’t justify buying more art before but now I definitely won’t be! I do love my two prints though, and getting them over the summer I’ve yet to frame either one… or several of the others from Spring.

What do you think? Which piece would you have chosen?

I like the print that you got for doing the survey, but $40-$70 for a print? Ludicrous

I agree with you love the prints but the price is definitely steep.

Yeah, Artemis and Boxkraze even last winter/spring when I was subscribing I was questioning paying $22-32/mo for someone to pick out art, and I ended up with a lot of art. I like it, but for $40 now?? I can’t see that lasting… plus they’ve implemented very few of the changes I was interested in seeing.
