Birchbox November 2016

LAST BOX! I tried to cancel after the points fiasco, but they would not let me. So, I had to stick it out, and now I’ve just earned Ace status and am done with my first even subscription box addiction.

Birchbox November 2016It came in a different sort of outer shell this month that felt slightly fancy.

Nice box, as always!

The Box: The Finishing Touch

Birchbox November 2016

TokyoMilk Light And Soul Eau De Parfum: $42 for 1.6oz. “Featuring notes of pressed oolong tea leaves, bamboo reed, orchid, and white musk.”

I do kinda like the fruity scent of this And Soul perfume, but it’s a bit too girly. I prefer my scents more masculine/unisex. However, there are notes of white musk and whatever oolong tea, bamboo reed, and orchid & reed are supposed to smell of.

In the ad for this I imagine soft pink things, a teen/20something female with thin delicate everything limply laying across fluffy pillows. That’s what it smells like.

Birchbox November 2016

Marcelle New-Age LumiPOWER 3-in-1 Moisturizer: $26 for 1.7oz. “A day cream, night cream, and eye cream… Slather on the oil-free formula to fight the signs of aging and fatigue, protect skin from environmental stressors, and get a radiant glow.”

I always like getting multitaskers and face lotions.

Birchbox November 2016

Coastal Scents® Blush & Bronzer Palette: $19.95. “Complex contouring and highlighting YouTube tutorials can leave a person scratching their head. That is, until we discovered this all-in-one palette that takes the guesswork out of picking the perfect bronzer, blush, and highlighter in complementary shades to create a truly flawless look.”

Birchbox November 2016

I tend to stay away from YouTube makeup tutorials, unless they’re from some guy who looks ridic when he’s done, because I just feel dumb. But, this says I’ll become a flawless makeup genius, so it better be amazing!

Birchbox November 2016

Number 4™ Fluoro5 Elixer Restore & Repair Oil: $26 for 2oz. “This strand-saving elixir gives drab, dull hair a coveted movie star shine (plus a whole host of reparative benefits).”

This is 0.5oz, which basically is more than half the cost of Birchbox. It smells nice, but I don’t like using oils on my hair because they usually make my curls frizzy. I’ll probably give it to my boss because I’m pretty sure the back says it is a color protecting treatment, and I just told her I’d give her any stuff for dyed hair.

Plus, it’s in French so it’s clearly fancy!

Birchbox November 2016

Chella Eyebrow Pencil in Tantalizing Taupe: $20. “This is the type of tool you use when you want the most defined, yet natural-looking brows you can get. The sleek, European-engineered mechanical pencil is made with a creamy consistency that glides on for a true, hair-like finish.”

Birchbox November 2016

The name of this color is on my info card, so they must’ve sent out the same color to everyone. Which is pretty lame and also points out that they don’t pay attention to the beauty survey. This was WAY to red for my brow color! It went on okay though. I’d show you a picture but I took it after three weeks of not getting my brows threaded… and I usually go once per week… so… I look like a yeti.

Verdict: This box was pretty meh, and there wasn’t anything I was stoked to try. The Lumi Powder and blush/bronzer are probably my top two to try, but otherwise this is a disappointing last box.

Does anyone else still get points from reviewing their boxes??? I used up the last of my points over the summer, but I’ve still been reviewing and I just got 10 points for several items I reviewed… Anyway, last BB review from me **takes a bow**.

Congrats on your ACE status! You will be able to take advantage of free shipping and random promos, some of which are sweet but unfortunately the low 20% ACE Black Friday code won’t get me to sign up for another year.
Sweet on you getting some points maybe the BB system was smart to give you points on boxes close/at the point cutoff? I had the 50 point countdown and then no points back at that point.

Hah, well I spent a year with BB and then finally got Ace status back one year after it expired. I probably won’t be buying much else from them, except maybe more Bombas to use up my new points.
