Saturday Trash Talk! Holy Moly!

Hi friends, it has been awhile. I haven’t been going through much lately but Dayle generously sent us her trash haul!

Dayle’s Bin:

So I thought I would be painfully honest this week, and included just a few of my empties from the green recycle bin along with my other empties.   A shout out here to P Nut – there is an empty bottle from Pipeworks Brewery – Abduction – from Chicago.  I got it on one of my trips and was saving for a special occasion.   It was AWESOME!   I like beer and wine, but a while back I realized my budget better supported world class beers – so I love to explore different beer whenever we travel.  I also included a pic of my birthday gift from my favorite sister – I turned 49 on  Nov 19:-(.   Pat Conroy was/is my favorite author – he passed away last spring and this book is a compilation of some of his blogs that he did when he was too sick to write.

-Ursa Major Fortifying Face Balm – I can’t even.  This is almost full – It is thick and smelly, like toothpaste for my face.   I know the Ursa Major brand is great, this just wasn’t for me.

-Shea Radiance Advanced Brightening.   Honestly this seems to have gone bad.  I think it was in my humid bathroom too long.   Never really got to try it.

-Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil – this came in Petit Vour and there was enough for just over a week.  I liked it, but the smell is very grainy/earthy.   With so many other natural oils to choose from I don’t know if I would purchase this one again.  It is however another great price point for natural oil – so I might!

Kari Gran Three Sixty Five SPF 28 – this came the week I got home from my vacation in the sun.   I have used it religiously since then and it is a nice SPF Moisturizer.  I think you could even skip a primer with this.  It does provide a bit of an ethereal glow

Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia cleansing oil – I have been searching for a lower priced alternative to in Fiore cleansing oil.  This works very well, and it is still special, this is now my go to cleansing oil, but it is no in Fiore!   If I ever win the lottery I will swim in in Fiore.

-Kari Gran essential serum – Nice Serum and I love Kari Gran’s philosophy They are the Little Black Dress of Beauty

Lomi Lomi Luscious Massage Oil – nice I loved the magnolia, coconut, kukui scent!

-Odacite skincare oils: CaR – Wild Carrot for Vital Glow and PO+R – Pomegranate Rose Geranium for hydration.   Another one of those things if I won the lottery I would own every Odacite and I would dispense it to all my friends and people I talked to.  I would be a skincare shaman handing out my oils and potions.  Love the Odacite brand!

-Bare Minerals Bareskin Sheer Sun – this came in a Sephora Play and I mixed it with my foundation to extend my tan for a little while longer

img_8014

-Elate Lipstick in Lively – this got old so it has to go.  It was a neat idea for a healthy lipstick in a bamboo case.  A little dry but I liked it ok

-Evelyn Iona Natural and organic gel eyeliner in black.   This stuff was a game changer for me.   I even bought a full size.   A little hint – when gel eyeliner gets dry you can put a few drops of a nice face oil in it and extend its life!  I was always a little scared of gel eyeliner, but I actually got this sample with a brush right after I had elbow surgery.  I knew when I could put it on neatly, elbow and all, that it was for me!

-AnnMarie Rosemary Peppermint Body Wash – small sample, enough for 2 weeks though?  It was ok – a little medicinal and no lather (which is ok for me)

-3 little pots of Suntegrity Lip.  I’ma be real here.  These just pissed me off.   They were like free samples you get at any counter, but they came in 2 different sub boxes.   Just the fact that they weren’t a full lipstick made me angry.  I didn’t really give them a chance, I don’t do lip stick in a tub.

-Graydon Hair Smoothie Cleansing Conditioner and detangler.  Now I don’t need a lot of (any) conditioner, but I gave this a chance.  Just couldn’t handle the smell.  Medicinal and on my hair?  No thanks

Dr Hauschka Rose Nurturing Body Oil – Rose.  This was very nice, thankfully I got another sample in my Goodbeing Surprise box – this body oil also has a great price point

-Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Toner.  Honestly I bought this 3-4 years ago.  It is more than half full,  It is a 5 on my Think Dirty app.   It has a few things in it that I try to avoid, so I quit using it but then couldn’t toss it.  Buh Bye!

Fitglow Beauty Mineral eye trio, it broke it dust.   Can’t keep it anymore

-LilFox Kalahari Eye Serum: This was a tiny little sample from Petit Vour.  It is a cold pressed oil from African Watermelon seeds, with moroccan organ oil, cooling cucumber seed oil, pomegranate seeds, Chilean Rosehip Seed Oil and Sandalwood oil.  Nice!!!  I would buy this again

-Lilikoi living- ginseng genie peptide priming serum.  This was a nice serum – I am not sure if it was super special, but I did enjoy using it and it was a nice full size sample from Goodbeing

-Becca Backlight Primer – this came in a Sephora Play box and was one of those things I tried even though Becca brand does not really meet most of my desires for healthy beauty.  I liked it, and if you don’t worry too much about ingredients I would say try it!   It works well

—Korres Wild Rose Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial.   Another Sephora Play.   Guys this stuff is NOT natural, but it works!!! Holy cow.  I used this with my Laurel Whole Plant Organics facial serum.  I then looked at pictures of my face from the end of August, to October.  OMG, I look like I had work done, but I swear I didn’t!   I just have two stubborn spots left, but I am sure if I continued to use regularly they too would be gone!

That’s it for trash this week – As you can see in the background, we are getting ready for the holidays.  Those are really my year round party deck lights that I turn on 5 times a year, but I wanted a little festivity in the hood tonight!

Hope everyone else’s trash/recycle bins are as happy as mine.

Dayle, ok I have so many responses I have to bullet them:
    1. I had the same problem with the ursa major deodorant!
    2. Did you see that Mahalo has a new cleansing balm?
    3. In regards to Odacite, so I have been buying my exotic oils off Garden of wisdom and I can’t tell the difference between them and odacaite and the price is 1/4th (I just repackage them in glass bottles I got on amazon)
    4. Are you still subbed to Petit vour? Did you get the Elate universal creme?!
    5. Going to have to try that gel eyeliner!
    6. OMG!!! I felt the same way about the suntegrity lip stuff!! And personally I do not want sunscreen in my lipstick. nope. just no.
    7. ok so you would rebuy the Lilfox eye stuff but would you rebuy the Bottega Organica eye cream? I am dying to know your thoughts on that!

I had not seen the Mahalo cleansing balm but will most definitely look into it. I am finishing up my in Fiore, I have a Tatch just opened and with December Beauty Heroes I received 2 of th Mun cleanser. So it may be awhile!

I have the Garden of Wisdom website bookmarked so I can try it. Definitely would like more wild carrot!

I do still get PV, I got the Elate cream in “Love” which I do love but I am not impressed with the cardboard container. A review I read said this is full size, so not sure if this is the normal full size container, it is a cardboard tube that you push up (like an old school push up orange ice cream treat). If you push it too far, which you are likely to do the first time you use it, it gets messy pushing it back down. But it is a very nice product. Just checked the website and the cardboard tube is in fact the standard container. 🙁

Let me know what you think if you try the eyeliner. I love it!

I love Bottega, but let me tell you why. I inherited really I mean really bad dark eye circles. Like I get filler bad. Even my friends that don’t believe in “having stuff done” think I need filler. So, I had used the lilfox for 2-3 weeks and it literally ran out the week I got the Bottega from BH. I was thinking I needed to call and schedule my next full. But after using The Bottega for a few weeks, I am good! I think the lilfox does an amazing job with moisturizing and wrinkles, however the Bottega revitalizes, enhances elasticity, brightens and stimulates skin renewal. Luckily I got 2 full size with my Beauty Heroes sub plus a deluxe travel size in the Kristen Arnett’s Green Beauty Team Best of Beauty collection.

So I have been back on Petit Vour for two months. When they offered the full-size Red Apple Lipstick I had to bite. I actually am loving the Elate but hating the container as well. I guess the one advantage is that it is recyclable. I also got two eye creams!! I have really been enjoying it. I have seen some people posting on Instagram though that theirs have been going bad. I have not had a problem with mine but the shelf life is supposed to be only 2 months after opening.

My dental hygienist gave me SPF chapstick, and aside from being one of the nastiest tasting chapsticks I keep finding it in my bag instead of something… tasty! Grr. Need to toss it in my closet for next time I travel somewhere sunny.

This was a good haul out! I immediately went and looked for the Korres on a swap site. But, does it actually smell like roses or is that the name?

Yes it does smell like roses. But it goes away pretty quickly. I always put something on over it too. I always laugh when something is rose scented. Did our grandmas just wear out rose scented things? I think some of the newer rose stuff is not as awful as it used to be. I hate strawberry scented stuff too, too much bonne bell and strawberry shortcake stuff when I was young!

Haha, I’ve just never liked anything rose, vanilla, coffee, or mint scented. I understand the strawberry chapstick thing. My Milk blush stick has this oddly familiar scent, and I finally realized it smells like the pink lemonade lipstick I had when I was a kid!
