The Ecocentric Mom Subscription Box is a monthly subscription box for moms and moms-to-be sending five (5) full sized products that are good for you and/or baby, eco-friendly, and useful.
There are four choices of box subscriptions that Ecocentric has:
For the preggers and the majority of the items curates to the mom-to-be. This subscription transitions to the Mom & Baby box after the due date has past.
This box is suggested for moms with newborns through 18 months. This box caters towards the new momma and baby on the outside.
This box is for mom and toddlers up to age 4.
The “me” box.
Spoilers for February:
I choose the Mom & Baby box!
I will be getting a much needed wet bag (with straps)! The bag says hello in many languages. The bag had me at “Aloha”.
One does not realize the wonders that having a wet bag with a strap provides.
The other item is not something that I need but as you know I love pouches. I also adore anything from LOQI I first discovered them via Good Being when they had that awesome LE box two years ago. I have been using the shopping bags I received in that box ever since and I am so happy to add on to my collection via the Things To Pack Zip Pocket by LOQI pouches I will be getting in February.
The pouches also serve as a checklist for contents. Very useful for all 😉
PSA: There are some nice insulated cups with the toddler handles!!!
My love for pouches overrides my love for cups.
January’s theme is “Fresh Start”
A New Year to freshen up and give a boost on your resolutions to get a fresh start!

I usually go for the noms first, but I needed to get something sharp out of the way…
Oh my. I feel pretty bad for small company Ecocentric Mom. I am pretty sure anyone that choose this expensive bottle of Labor of Love by Love Bug Probiotics as their selection choice received it broken because the glass was not that thick and there was no bubble packaging. I was able to salvage the pills and because the glass was blue it was easy to separate it from the pills. I popped one in my mouth last night and this morning. Think I am doing good. Amazon is tempting me with a $4 off coupon via Save and Subscribe for more savings.
While my gut is being regulated, my finger got cut whilst unwrapping the plastic seal on the jar. I would have taken a picture of my band aided booboo, but it was my middle finger.
Why my middle finger!?! Such a conversation starter.
If you love dried chickpeas like I do, you will LOVE these. I ate these in one sitting. Luckily, I remembered to take a picture. Good thing because the real thing looks better than the over salted picture of these Sea Salt Chickpeas by Saffron Road. I would definitely repurchase these for an on the go snack. I have made my own via dried off canned chickpeas placed in the oven to dehydrate but they do not store well. Which works out because they get nommed up immediately.
BTW these were not over salted, they were rightly lightly salted. Yum!
These look and sound unappetizing. But if you like chickpeas crisps you will like these. Sea Salt Chickbean Crisps by Saffron Road is something that needs to be in every crunchy subscription box that has a food component because it totally a product that people would sample but not go out and outright buy the product. This would go well with hummus!
Don’t knock it until you try it!
If I receive a hair product in a subscription box, my favorites are hair masks and conditioners. I totally love this Transformation Mask by Loba Mane! Transformation Mask by Loba Mane smells like a tropical treat, it is great for color treated hair and makes my hair soft!
I am happy to receive this Surface Sanitizer by Yorba Organics. Most of my multipurpose cleaners are not one of those fighting germs. And sometimes you need the fighting germs spray. I used this and it worked pretty well to remove grime whilst sanitizing.
I am a happy villager!
Always a fan of face sprays and I am digging this Face Lift Toner by Z Skin Cosmetics! This was my second choice selection. I have used Face Lift Toner by Z Skin Cosmetics already as a mask refresher and its perfection!

Simply Organic Sunblock by Z Skin Cosmetics

SPF 45 in a natural sunscreen yes please! I am going to save this Simply Organic Sunblock by Z Skin Cosmetics for the spring though as I usually use up my SPF 15 samples up in the winter. But the ingredients (Cinnamon, Maca, Triphala, Hibiscus, Amalaki, Bhringaraj, Ashwaghanda, Wakeme, Almond, Avocado, Baobab, Moringa, Coconut, Watermelon Seed, Kuikui Nut, Bitter Melon, Aloe, Carrot Seed, Taminu, Pumpkin Seed, Raspberry, Cranberry, Pomegranate, Rosehip, Frankincense, Lavender, Geranium, Chamomile, Grapefruit, Bergamont, Patchouli , Myrrh, Clary Sage, Rose Absolute) sound divine so I will be excited to try this out!
Ecocentric Mom Pregnancy January 2018 Subscription Box

VERDICT:

Absent a finger cut, I loved everything in this month’s Ecocentric Mom box. New noms to try out. A luscious hair mask. Expensive probiotics (needed really for me at this time), and SPF 45 (not SPF 15) face product, face toner, and a sanitizer cleaner spray. And I am excited for next month!

If you are looking for a perfect gift for a mom or mom-to-be, I highly recommend Ecocentric Mom!

Sorry about your cut finger and the broken bottle! I think you will be quite pleased to know that Trader Joe’s sells crispy chickpeas! I got some, but they were ranch flavored which tastes fine on Doritos, but not so much on chickpeas. We gave them to the squirrels.

Oh I tried those! They were nommy but they were heavy on the ranch I tended to shake the bag to shake off some of the ranch to the bottom of the bag. Lucky squirrels 😉

Do you like ranch flavored pretzels? There is a recipe called “Crack Pretzels” out there in the internets that my cousin used to make that had some ranch dressing powder as one of the ingrediants. Totally addicting I would totally make it if I wouldn’t eat the whole thing!

That box looks awesome! I love probiotics, but usually get them from kombucha, it would be nice to have a pill form some days though. I make crispy chickpeas too with all kinds of exotic flavors, usually Indian spices because they are so tasty!

I am not a big ranch fan, but I will occasionally eat ranch Doritos. My family loves ranch and that is how I get them to eat their vegetables, husband too! Last week I bought broccoli seasoned with ranch to have as an easy veggie and my daughter ate it all including taking some off her dads plate!!!

Do those steam in bags vegetables scare anyone else though? I buy them for convenience but only occasionally, I fear the plastic leaches into the food?

My husband and one of my squeakers like kombucha! He gets them from Costco.
I am trying to stay away from dairy unless its really worth it. Like ice cream.
Trying to do more fruits, veggies, protein and less dairy, sugar, and pasta. Fruits are easy but the pasta… I love my pasta.
I used to hate ranch doritos but my boyfriend (now husband) loved ranch doritos so they grew on me. Ranch does make veggies better 😉
That is so funny that you mentioned the steam in bag veggies! I read some stuff and now I am freaking over all the canned veggies I bought. Everything causes cancer nowerdays *sighs* I do like the steamer bags though because it is convenient like you said plus it gets the veggies perfectly steamed which is something I cannot acheive via a combination of real life and patience.

I LOVE pasta! I’m 3/4 Italian so it’s healthy for me.
I need to research and get on the probiotics bandwagon…

Great review Pnut! So it’s easy to switch which box you want each month regardless of baby age?

        • January 5, 2018 at 6:28 am

Thanks Heat! Currently I have three out of the four subscriptions active. I have not subscribed to the mom box yet. At the end of the month but before the 5th at the begining of the month, I am able to see and make the two selections of any of the three active boxes but end up choosing one box with 2 custom selections and skip 2 of them. I am only allowed one box as per hubbie. So if I don’t do anything by the 5th, I would be charged for 3 boxes if that makes sense. There is also a cancel button so no email or phonecall is required to cancel just do it before the 5th of the month. I think the baby age thing would only make a difference if you are loyal to one box and your baby ages to the next box… that is what I think because I forgot which birthday I put down for each box lol.
