Face Mask Alchemy Subscription Box Review – February 2018

This will be a dual review of this month’s featured mask as I used different mixes for two separate mask indulgences!

Cost: $10.88 plus tax + shipping

Note: Unfortunately like the majority of subscription services, there will be a small increase due to new USPS shipping rates I forgot the amount but I think it was less than a dollar’s increase starting next month.

What You’re Getting: A box from our very own Subista Sista, Mailbox Junkie, who moved forward from blogging to creating a YouTube Channel as And The Color Green. She recently created her own subscription box, Face Mask Alchemy. Marie occasionally still dabbles in subscription boxes but her new love is skincare and masking! Marie also has the assistance of a chemist in creating her curated face masks.

And you can totally see a glow in her skin! She knows what she is doing!

The theme for February 2018’s Face Mask Alchemy is Ku’u lei, Ku’u ipo (My flower lei, My sweetheart)!!!

We have a flower lei in this house (the one who does the Grove Co reviews see them here). This little flowergirl automatically picks up any leis she finds and puts them on.

Here is one of her leis featured for this review.

FIRST MASKING:

I mixed with Face Mask Alchemy’s Honey Stick and Face Oil.

*Added water to reconstitute the mask*

I am finding the mask very fragrant. I can smell the Rooibus tea and if I really huffed hard I could detect the ever light fragrance of the white tea.

I resolve now to do a second masking whilst sipping some tea.

*Added Face Mask Alchemy’s honey stick and face oil*

The scent of the face oil is hard to detect so I really had to huff hard to what I believe was a faint scent of guava.

I could not detect a mac nut scent, although I wished I had some actual mac nuts 😉

*mix, mix, mix*

SECOND MASKING:

I mixed with Lilfox’s Jungle Glow Rainforest Mask (thanks Dayle)!

*My (lukewarm) tea of the day*

*Added water to reconstitute the mask*

Fragrant Rooibos Tea mask meet your match! I found Lilfox’s Jungle Glow to smell of a really nice hippy.

Throughout this masking experience, I smelled like a really nice hippy drinking rooibos tea!

*mix, mix, mix*

*& apply*

Verdict:

Marie always mentions one of the best ways to get the full experience of Face Mask Alchemy is to play around with recipes. You can always use tried and true methods or you can mix it up and elevate the experience. I knew I wanted to redo another mask to add in that lei but I could not really think of making it any different other than maybe adding tea instead of water to make it different (yes I know I am boring). Then Dayle brought it to my attention that the Lilfox she gifted me would make a perfect winter mask and then I put one and one together. Perfection!

The first masking experience was really nice as I used the standard Face Mask honey stick and face oil. I love the tea fragrance experience and the mask itself and I ended using the face oil itself as the finishing touch! The second masking experience with the Lilfox took the fragrance experience to another level. Also the Lilfox had grains in it leaving me the opportunity to exfoliate whilst washing the mask off.

Wow. Amazing. Times Two!

I am too lazy to mix masks… I should do it more often but usually just stick with sheet masks or occasionally a pre-made mask of some other kind.

Great review! I think you’re creative & not boring at all. Shout out to the amazingly generous Dayle! XOXO

Ugh… I need to get into my sheet masks they are mating in the refrigerator door (with the jar of “cocaine” I need to remove since I have a box of unassuming baking soda in it). I also found my jar of Palmetto Derma “Burn Yo Face” mask in a bathroom drawer I need to use it hope its not dried up its the only burning mask I will use (again not a Marketing major). Dayle rocks and so do you thanks Heat 🙂
