Allure Beauty Subscription Box Unboxing Review – September 2018

Subscription: Allure Beauty Box

Cost:

$15 box/month. Hitting that link above or here takes off $5 off your first box.

What to Expect:

Allure states that it is the only “editor-curated” beauty box. Every month subscribers will receive [Allure] editors’ favorite beauty products.

I have been getting Allure on and off depending on the spoilers. I always meant to do the reviews but I had not completed them. For some reason I just came to the conclusion that I can do an Allure unboxing instead since I usually buy Allure because there is usually just one item that makes the box for me and I squirrel away the other stuff as add on gifts (or “me” gifts). But in truth I usually squirrel all of it :/

For example, I got September’s Allure Beauty Box solely for the MAC lip. I heart MAC lippies.

Sit Down and Get Comfortable:

Here is a first peek!

My Hero Item:

MAC Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo

MAC Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo

I have been always obsessed by MAC lippies (and basically almost everything about the brand). I might be showing my age but MAC usually delivers long lasting color payoff. And MAC is one of the few brands that gives you a free lippy for exchange of 6 MAC empties.

For me to channel my inner Gwen Stefani.

Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial

Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial

This is a highly praised item but I have not been personally impressed by this brand. I am going to put it in my facial pile and will eventually get to it.

I personally think Drunk Elephants are scary why make one a brand name? Why get an elephant drunk in the first place? That is a lot of booze and/or fermented food. I did not major in marketing and this brand is doing very well so what do I know about drunk elephants.

Tarte Tarteist Pro Cruelty-Free Lashes and Adhesive

Tarte Tarteist Pro Cruelty-Free Lashes and Adhesive

I am wondering whether I can use the adhesive for loose glitter tattoos. Because glitter tatoo glue is expensive.

Talk about out of the box Pnut.

Watching YouTube videos make me want to put on false lashes at events. Whenever one of my beloved YouTubers does not wear falsies, I notice. Then I want to wear them but then I see Eva Longoria without lashes and she has none because she uses them constantly. Maybe at the next upcoming wedding. They look so lovely. And fluffy.

What lovely and fluffy eyelashes you have Pnut.

Living Proof full dry volume blast

Living Proof full dry volume blast

For laundry spot cleaning. Don’t ask me if it works as I attack stains with a cocktail of Blue Dawn, hairspray, dry shampoo, and actual stain removers.

The more threatened I am by the stain, the more its overwhelmed by various products.

Allure Beauty Box

Verdict:

This would be a perfect box to bring to Vegas or to an overnight event where you can put on the eyelashes and red lipstick and come home to a facial and use the dry shampoo the morning after.

But for me, Ruby Woo will happen when I choose to channel my “inner Gwen Stefani”, a rare event. And a fancy party for the eyelashes which will be another rare event.

Rare events do happen.

But probably not the Ruby Woo and falsies at the same time.

I go with one “wow” when I want to “wow”.

The facial will be used at random and the dry shampoo will get the most use as a laundry stain remover.

My life is so exciting.

As being true with most of my Allure boxes, I have squirreled everything away for future use. I do have a family wedding coming up so…. Maybe I will try the lipstick on Halloween. That would be an easy thing just a bold lip. And if it smears (which rarely does happen but maybe its because I don’t use fire engine red lippies), it’s Halloween!

Do you snap up a box because of one particular item? Did you miss out on a box that had an item on your list?

Share below any thoughts (randoms thoughts are always welcomed here) that you may have!

I saw the title and knew I’d have fomo. Allure was a really good sub! I think I got overwhelmed by beauty samples because I can’t even remember why I quit…

I think it was a string of previews where I lost interest, but I’m resuming this with a good Black Friday code.

I would LOVE it if Allure had a Black Friday Annual code!!!

Decided to look at Dermstore/Beauty Fix! And by that I mean, I bought a sub. Ahem… my late night shopping is really really really bad right now!!! >O< Books, makeup, clothing, furniture… ugh we had roomies for five years and they just moved out this summer, so we remodeled our tv room, and now I get my own office so there's so much decorating to do!!

Sub box twinsies! Are you staying on for Beauty Fix November? I am thinking about it the first spoiler came out.

An office to call your own. With it comes more space for sub box goodies 😉

Sounds nice. Expensive! I’m ok with that.

FOMO is why I am staying for December. Not that I need to add any more masks from November but they are a nice extra to include in curated spa holiday gifts.

Always so happy to see your reviews! I have never been able to put on false eyelashes. I glued my finger to my eye once. True story. Of course, I didn’t have eyelash glue, so I used craft glue. Go me. I’ve since gifted every pair that has come in a subscription box. Quickly. I’m only getting 2 monthly sub boxes nowadays. My new goal is to use everything and have empties to show for it!

    • October 28, 2018 at 11:13 pm

      Thanks Susie 🙂
I only put on false eyelashes one time and it was from a GWP box I think. It had the adhesive already on so I did not have to glue my finger to my eye (oh my goodness so sorry). I actually did pretty good but it was probably my awesome nearsighted skills.
Working with craft/gel/krazy/gorilla glue always gets my fingers stuck :/
You are more than welcome to email me some pictures and reviews of your empties 😉

Reading this I thought the dry shampoo was really stain remove at first. I didn’t know dry shampoo could be used for that!

I got a GoodBeing box this month and I’ve been meaning to send a little blurb for you to post. Realistically, I’m not going to get around to writing much. There’s just too much thinking involved for me.

I really enjoyed this review! Big props to you for your posts! I have no idea how you do it while keeping up with all your little Pnut people!

    • October 31, 2018 at 10:47 pm

      Hi LC!!!

Feel free to email me picts and blurbs for GoodBeing (or any sub box). We have not done a reader’s review in awhile. I can probably add to it via actual experience or just my natural peanut commentary. Pnutatsubscriptionista at gmail dot com

That is funny but now you mention it, every time I see dry shampoo I instantly put it in a box where I have my stain removers. I just have not been a fan of dry shampoo for its normal use on hair.

Thanks for the compliments 🙂 I blog after midnight (like PA Anna). A post will be posting November 1st and maybe I should be able to get another one by the end of this week or early next week. I need to pace myself lol. I think I am getting excited for holiday codes which means more boxes which means more reviews. I hope this year’s end will be a good year for codes and/or LE boxes *fingers crossed*
