Birchbox Subscription Box Review – December 2018

Subscription: Birchbox

Cost:

Monthly $10.00

Yearly: $110.00 (you get one month free)!

What To Expect:

At least 5 items allegedly based on a profile.

Kick Back and Get Comfortable:

So after a two year separation from Birchbox because I was sad that they stopped points and would lose my ACE status, I came back.

Our loyal reader Ake put it perfectly that I had an subscription box “itch” to scratch.

And if you missed my first box review of my year subscription, I have put any items that I plan not to use in a “gift pile for you” baggie.

Gift pile for you!

You would appreciate this more if you like the Seinfeld spin reference and/or a hoarder that needs to be brought to reality.

To which I am both.

Here is my second of my twelve Birchbox boxes:

Birchbox – December 2018

“What’s meant to be will find a way.”

Well that sounds a little threatening.

Birchbox – December 2018

Oh… I bet this $10 off is not stackable and/or requires a minimum purchase!

Winner winner subscription box dinner.

Birchbox – December 2018

My selection, OI ALL IN ONE MILK, came with some sidekicks!

OI ALL IN ONE MILK

Davines OI ALL IN ONE MILK (deluxe sample with with shampoo and conditioner foil samples)

I LOVE this leave in conditioner. It smells heavenly (it dissipates in case you don’t care to smell). I use this on my Squeakers’ fine hair to help with tangles. I have this leave in conditioner via LE Birchboxes (and one subscription box Birchbox) and this is my third or fourth bottle. It is a very generous deluxe sample at almost 2 ounces! I believe when I received the subscription box Birchbox sample it also came with foil shampoo and conditioner samples. I will be using the foils during “holiday” (because I am fancy and I like pretend I am Europeon instead of using the word “vacation”). My hair responds well to “new” products (but to the first time then I need my standbys) so these foils work perfect for trips.

Gifts for me and the squeakers!

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner

Ahhh… nothing kills an itch like a (repeat) black eyeliner. This is a nice eyeliner that I have “kitty swatched” here before but I am not into liquid eyeliners.

Gift pile for you!

(MALIN+GOETZ) vitamin e face moisturizer

(MALIN+GOETZ) vitamin e face moisturizer

I like this brand because it reminds me of shopping the MALIN+GOETZ’s Manhattan store back in the days when NYC was my backyard.

Nowerdays I just live for subscription box samples of this brand.

Other than originating in New York City, its nothing special and now resides randomly in a pouch or somewhere where I can easily access for some moisturizing in this dry, cold, and biting Chicago winter.

Marcelle CC Cream SPF 35 Complete Correction – Golden Glow

Marcelle CC Cream SPF 35 Complete Correction – Golden Glow

This is a Canadian company and sister company of Lise Watier. Other than being a Canadian company with a cool sister (I am just drawn to the coolness of the name “Lise Watier”), these products are awesome to sample and purchase (I bought a Lise Watier sample kit from the recent Birchbox Winter sales and I adored all of it). I have sampled this CC Cream before and I like it. Not enough to repurchase.

Lavanila The Healthy Fragrance Vanilla Coconut Eau de Perfum

“Try Our Healthy Deodorant”

Why yes why don’t you send a sample of the deodorant and not the perfume that would make me smell like a deodorant?

Lavanila The Healthy Fragrance Vanilla Coconut Eau de Perfum

Lavanila The Healthy Fragrance Vanilla Coconut Eau de Parfum

Why do I want to smell like a deodorant!?! Where does fabulous deodorant company come up with this idea that people will buy a fragrance to match their deodorant!?! I do not want my armpits nor my body to smell of vanilla. I also despise perfume vials samples in my subscription boxes.

Gift pile for you!

Before the verdict, here is the second month’s Gift Pile For You!

I could not “add-on gift” the horribly marketed “Let’s Get Naked” frizz fighting sample presumably for the hair on one’s head.

As per last month’s note, please reforgive the recycled look of the bag, I realize my other bags I had in mind had those labels and this was the only gallon size that did not. If I find another clear gallon size bag next month I will use that but at this stage of my life it needs to magically appear. Please send a clear pristine gallon plastic bag to Pnut at (I kid, I kid, unless it really bothers you lol)….

Gift Pile For You!

Birchbox – December 2018

Verdict:

My itch has been scratched.

I wonder whether the itch will go away in another 10 months. Stay tuned.

Next month I will be reviewing Birchbox’s Curated Box for January 2019.

Because I have a fondness of full spoilers rather than surprises. AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I am looking forward to confirming the reports of the Blaq black peel mask ripping my skin as I peel away because I hope it also pulls those pesky blackheads.

A peel away face mask that doubles as a nose strip? Stay tuned.

Hey, that’s a real improvement over last month! Half a cheer for Birchbox! I always appreciate when they give you the whole set of hair products. Even better when they all count as a single item.

Happy New Year! I have now culled my sub boxes to BoxyCharm, Grove Co, Taste of Home Quarterly, Fortune Cookie Soap Quarterly and Redline Shirt Club (vintage drag racing shirts for hubby). I’m so proud of myself! Now… how long can I stay away from Ipsy, FFF, Target and PopSugar? We shall see! On a side note… I get ridiculously excited when my email lets me know that Subscriptionista has a new post!!
